If I could give this company 0 stars I would but I can’t. I rented a car with them in london I think ending of August 2023 it went smoothly. I had to pay a parking fine which was fine. However, all of a sudden my account is blocked now here’s where the problem started. Trying to get in contact with them is like a blind man trying to put a thread through a needle. My account got blocked because someone used my details in France and I have never been to France. There was no number to call them on. I emailed them and contacted them on Facebook they took forever to respond and when they did they would say pay €400 etc or you can’t use the account and no other option to fill for fraud nothing. I was willing to provide evidence but nothing from them.

If you are thinking about renting with…
If you are thinking about renting with them think twice. I rented my car out and the driver damaged the door. They had insurance cover and so I logged a claim with Getaround thinking it wouldn't be too much of an issue. It has now been six months and I still haven't heard back. Last time I heard from them was 3 months ago when they said it would 2-3 months to sort out.
Luckily my car is drivable but imagine if it wasn't. Not worth the hassle

Unfair treatment for penalty notices
Mostly I have found GetAround to work well, until I was hit with a penalty notice.
I had inadvertently entered a bus lane. I was in the bus lane for a maximum of 10 seconds and traveled for no more than 20 metres (up to a set of traffic lights) before realising my mistake. I immediately moved out of the bus lane before any buses came along. The bus lane was poorly marked, up until the point where it was too late to change lanes without entering the bus lane.
The owner of the vehicle received a penalty charge notice from the local authority because of this. They immediately paid the penalty, the cost of which GetAround passed on to me, with additional compensation for the owner and admin fees for GetAround. The penalty was £65. The additional fees GetAround charged totalled £35. This effectively doubled the cost of my rental.
There was no opportunity to challenge the penalty notice, which in many cases leads to the local authority dropping the charge.
The compensation for the owner incentivises them to pay the penalty without question, even though these can often be legitimately challenged.
It's definitely left me with a negative perception of GetAround and I'm unlikely to use the service again. I understand the logic of this arrangement, but I think the balance is wrong and means renters are likely to get stung by large fees for minor infractions even when there is a strong case for challenging the penalty.
