Not a great experience
This was the second time I rented with get around. First time was great experience and that what make me rent the second time. This time I had the worst experience ever. First of all, just a month before our arrival we were told that car owner had to change the car, keep in mind we did the reservation about six months in advance. Then it wasn’t for the best, we were given a really old car which was not cleaned and had mud on mats, stains on seats and crumbs. Due to weather we got delayed which I told the owner, my mistake I did not extend our rental. When we arrived at the drop off location it was pouring down and there was no shelter, we had to call a shuttle to pick us up as per owner’s arrangement, so we ended up waiting which pushed us just over three hours delay so owner charged us for four hours which was two third of total rental value of four days. I contacted and contested the charge but I was given a straight reply that charge is correct and they won’t do anything. No consideration to change of car on short notice to a smaller car and dirty and weather. I am left miffed and I don’t think I will be renting again.

Awful awful site
Awful awful site, service and app. Having had a really bad experience with it the past year or so I have finally given up and will no longer be using it. Massively unreliable and just a headache to use.

Although I had a problem with unlocking the first car I booked, but the call centre were very helpful in getting the 2nd car. I even had £80 discount.
It was then all easy and good.

I use Getaround a lot, and it works really well for multi-journeys or when a traditional car rental office isn't open on the right day, or when the return hours are inconvenient. I recommend it wholly.

Good value rentals from PERPIGNAN gare
Good value rentals from PERPIGNAN gare. No surprises and no on-costs for 2nd driver or going to Spain. Ford rely on the previous user cleaning the car. Ours could have been cleaner on the outside.

Didnt return my deposit
Since end of July I was asking my deposit. Someone emailed and said your deposit returned 16th of July. That day I didnt even start my car rent. Absolutely horrible

Unresponsive Customer Support
I have been trying to get in touch with Getaround’s customer support team regarding an issue with the app but am getting no responses after many chases and there is no number to call! This is very frustrating as I have a rental booked next weekend which I am nervous may not go ahead if I don’t get their support. Please help!

The owner cancelled the booking the day before.
The owner cancelled the booking the day before with a silly excuse (a flat tyre). Just after I sent my video (new verification system). That gives the owners the chance to apply a very conservative approach. It's like renting in a very conservative neighbourhood: your haircut or style will spoil your chances. I never had this problem with similar apps in Spain. Two times with this app in UK,even with good reviews. I guess in UK is a common issue.

Dishonest behaviour of the company
The app works well until there is a dispute. Then, the amount that is charged for repairs can be completely unreasonable. I have been charged more than £600 (!) for an alleged “scratch” which was not even visible (I shared clear photo and video evidence of this), but the company made up absurd excuses about the scratch “exhibiting a somewhat peculiar behaviour” and being “visible only when the car’s surface is dry” (funnily enough, it was dry when I took pictures and photos). I am frankly astonished by the absurdity of the situation and the dishonesty of the company. I will NEVER use Getaround again and would not recommend it to anyone who cares about honesty and being treated with decency and respect. I will take the company in front of a judge for this.
