Do not recommend this company. I could not use the service because the owner did not pay the garage fees. I would be eligible for a full refund per the refund policy: "The owner was unable to fulfill the rental (unavailable, wanted to cancel)." It's been 8 days and the company is still "reviewing my refund request".

Common ground
No support. I had run in to some phone trouble. Would not charge. Only on a wall plug. At a slow charge. I tried texting, email on the app. I know some one can lock the car. I needed little more time. So I got an extra two hours. I text owner. Informing them about the trouble with the phone. I received a text message a hour late that I was still need to check out the car. If I was informed right away I could of went when my phone turned back on. Checked in before the 30 min window. The car was. This is the 2nd. Time trying to contact someone still no reply. I returned the car cleaner, more gas. Then I received it. Thank you

much more expensive than it used to be!!!
Since Getaround re-launched their app for IL the prices have increased substantially- there is a booking fee that seems indiscriminate and adding 30 min to the end of your booking is MUCH more expensive then it used to be and you can only do it in 30 min increments.

Only disadvantage is need to arrange transport to location.

Interesting but expensive
The car was great, concept is cool. Not sure it is great value for money. Renting a car for a day via Kayak would have cost 1/2 of what a 4 hour rental with Getaround…..

All false charges without fair review
All false charges without fair review. Allowed a owner to charge a fee when the car was dirty and noted this car has had complaints about its cleanliness.
Never again will I give the benefit of the doubt to an owner or getaround I rent all the time and this by far I had a similar issue with another platform.

Not Bad. Need more transparency.
The getaround app is fairly convenient from getting the car booked and using it.
However, the hidden fees in terms of license verification and booking fee was a surprise while paying to book for that trip. Also, the app shows the fuel in terms of percentage, whereas the car shows in miles(range). So it was not convenient to predict what would constitute that same percentage at checkout. My range was 233 Miles at checkin and 243 miles at checkout. I still haven’t received the refund because it was 95% in app both at check in and check out.
A little more transparency would be good.

Getaround doesn’t make owner of vehicles keep they vehicle serviced. Nor do they penalize owners for faulty vehicle but penalize renter. I paid money to rent the vehicle on top of that had to pay to have tire replaced because of blow out from worn tire on vehicle not only that vehicle wouldn’t work properly contacted getaround and I was held responsible for having car towed back to home location. Car wouldnt crank after fueling so because I didn’t wanna be responsible for damaging vehicle more I was penalized. Owner has so many complaints on vehicle for same issues and getaround does nothing and nothing to protect renters.
