I can not believe that they are doing…
I can not believe that they are doing this to my account. I am a real person with a real business. This is an honest review. Don't subscribe to them.
I am not happy with their service so I wanted to stop it but the cancel button on their site doesn't work. So I started emailing them about cancellation request several months ago.
I sent so many emails to cancel the service because it didn't work for me. they have been following too many and really weird accounts on Instagram. But they kept ignoring my cancellation requests and kept charging so I called my credit card company to stop the payment. It was blocked but River has its own tricky way to get away with charging your credit card even with the block.
So now I'm stuck. It's really bad what they are doing here. My credit card company said they will dispute but if River doesn't respond to this request there is nothing I can do but keep giving them money 99 dollars every month. You can't cancel because they don't respond. you can't block charges because they keep changing their ID on credit charge and you can't get money back because they will simply ignore and take your money. this system is really shady and I can't believe they can get away from them.

River by Colibri IO are Spammers & Scammers
If you EVER get a message from this "Asia Zukowska" woman she is not real, is a spammer, and likely a scammer. You cannot get yourself off their list — even though you will never sign up because they buy lists.
In fact, their address "180 Sansome St., San Francisco, CA 94104, USA" is a place that you can rent office space by the hour.
STAY AWAY THEY ARE NOT GOOD/REPUTABLE!!

Spam spam and more spam.
I've been getting countless spam mails to signup for their site, i've warned them several times that i will go to an instance to sue them if they continue to send me spam mail since i've clearly stated i don't want anything to do with their services. And i'll state it again here. Next time one of your super annoying spam mails goes into my mailbox i will make sure you'll have to shut down your bussiness (if it's even legitimate). My advice to anyone looking into this bussiness, if a bussiness sends emails without you being registered they're usually scam just like this one.

Do not waste your time or money
I can't even be bothered explaining how rubbish this service is. If you are dumb enough (like I was) to read what their users say about them and still sign up, then you deserve what you get.

No longer functioning, but happy to take your money anyway
Updated Review as of November 2019:
TLDR: River no longer works, so, unfortunately, my previous review no longer applies. River did work in the past and it was awesome. But Instagram has changed quite a bit to ensure apps like this can't help you cheat your way to better engagement. Don't pay for it, because they won't refund you for their faulty software.
I decided to give River another try after I'd had such amazing success with them in the past. I paid the $99 for the month and waited for something to happen with my account.
Almost a whole week later, nothing in my account had been touched. I reached out to customer service to make sure everything was good on my end. I was told that River was "working very hard on my account", but they admitted that the app wasn't functioning properly since Instagram's recent security updates. When I politely asked for a refund, I was continuously told that they were working on my account, I just wasn't able to see what they were doing on my end.
They refused to refund me and kept, instead, trying to educate me on engagement and how it works (I know how it works).

5/5 Stars as of December 2018:
I signed up for the free trial for River about a month ago for my small business. The River software pulled all the hashtags I was already using on my posts regularly in order to target my audience. I didn't gain a ton of followers from the trial, but I did go from an average of 100-150 likes per post to 400-600 very quickly.
For that reason alone, I signed up. Ever since, I've averaged about 400-800 likes per post (depending on the content, sometimes more). I've gained a whole lot more followers through River than the spam-ish approach I was taking before (following a ton of people and unfollowing them all at once a couple days later). Yes, I've also lost a lot of followers, but these are followers that weren't actually interested in my content, so they're followers I'm okay with losing. River has helped me gain quality followers who are genuinely interested in what I'm selling (!!). My sales have gone up, and I'm at a level of engagement that I'm super happy with!
All I had to do to get my account set up was add a ton of hashtags (I believe River recommends 100+). I added every possible hashtag I could think of that had to do with each individual product in my shop (so, a whole lot of hashtags). From there, River makes it easy and does all the work for me in the background, so I can worry about my content.
I WILL say: River has been such a successful investment for me because I'm posting quality content – every single day, sometimes twice a day – that people WANT to engage with. If all you do is post selfies all day, this may not be for you. Small businesses, however, I'd highly recommend!

INTRUSIVE, UNWANTED MARKETING EMAILS
I have never heard of this company until they started sending me marketing emails without my prior permission. I have tried in vain to unsubscribe using the link contained in the mails and using the email address contained in one of the responses below which, according to the server is an invalid recipient. Hopefully they may read this and if so, my message to them is
STOP SENDING ME YOUR EMAILS - I DO NOT WANT THEM

Use the $99 and buy groceries instead.
I signed up for their monthly managed service. They did build my account and initially the number of post engagements justified the expense. Unfortunately, the River team doesn't do a great job of attracting like-minded accounts and you end up following and being followed by Instagram feeds that have nothing to do with your account. they also spend time liking your own posts which is puzzling, not mention bad social etiquette (never "like" your own posts).
In addition, their service "goes down" more often than it works. Each and every change to Instagram's algorithm put a dent in River's effectiveness and eventually caused it to stop working as I was unable to like or follow accounts and hastag'd art through their on-line app.
Note: Their customer service team had zero answers as to when the service would be fully functional, which put me in a position to have to cancel my membership.
Point blank: Don't waste your time or your money with this service; it's not stable and it's not ready for prime-time. Use the $99 and go buy groceries instead.

GetRiver.com...GetRid!
This is basically a scam.
You pay $99 and you lose followers...tons of followers!
I lost almost 1k followers in less than a month...(I can prove it!)
This service should be helpful for people like me that are very busy, and they pay for someone to manage your IG profile.
They don't do it, and you've to follow their "job" constantly...
The good thing is you get some extra "like" and "comments",
but obviously it doesn't worth $99 per month!!!
The customer service is slow, and they keep repeating the same excuses!
Mostly it's a copy/paste reply to your emails, nothing is customized.
They don't want to reimburse me.
Avoid this company!

Shady Operators. Regular spam with hard to find unsubscribe link.
They have been spamming my email address in attempt to get me to sign up (for a service I don't need). They claim below that every email contains an unsubscribe link. This is true, however the unsubscribe link is hidden in the email signature in a tiny font, among a load of unrelated information.
Unsubscribe links should be clear and obvious, especially when you've harvested emails without users ever having expressed an interest in your service.
Stop sending this stuff to people who haven't asked for it, and if you insist on doing that, stop lying that you make it so easy to unsubscribe.

I have used Get River for about a year…
I have used Get River for about a year and a half now - when I first started my results were outstanding. I actually quickly signed up for a year contract after using them for just 4 months. The MOMENT I switched to a year contract, my numbers decreased. Since then, I BARELY have any activity on my account. They are not doing their job and constantly have an excuse. I have written in countless times and tried to stay on top of understanding why there is such limited activity and they always say it will be fixed. It is absolutely not worth spending $99/month to receive less interaction that I can on my account alone. This service USE to be amazing, but buyers beware now.

Aggressive Spammers
They sweep all domains on our mail server with their unsolicited spam.
Once we block their sender domains they just switch to other sender domains.
Blocking them by helo or message id seems to work as those will always end with "rivergrid.ovh".
None of the recipients actually ever signed up to receive their e-mails.
Legally, they would be required to perform double opt-in to send advertising emails to users, at least in Europe.
I have filed Abuse Complaints with the company hosting most of their E-Mail servers, Hetzner in Germany, which luckily is in the same jurisdiction we are in and usually very responsive in this situation.
The information that an unsubscribe button is available in the e-mail is ludicrous since these spam e-mails shouldn't be hitting our servers in the first place.
I'll keep monitoring the situation.

Their Email SPAM Tactics Are Horrible
We never opted-in to this company however we are constantly getting SPAM from them. There is no option to opt-out and when we try to reply (to opt out), it just gets returned undelivered. Any reputable company does not conduct business this way. UPDATE - I find it amazing that they immediately respond to trustpilot reviews but do not respond to the hi@ email. BTW, You guys DO NOT have a opt-out on your spam emails. This is the email that is sending SPAM asiaz at instantriver. UPDATE 12-4-2018 - As you can see below, they have a template response claiming they remove all who want to unsubscribe. That's not true. I'm STILL getting spam from them (after unsubscribing numerous times). All they do is change their email address. I'm now getting spam from the domain 'river groups dot com' Same company, same spam. Stay FAR away from this organization.

Dubious Intentions?
At first I was so excited about GetRiver because they offered a free trial without asking for a credit card up front. There are so many scammers out there, and this indicated to me that they would be trustworthy, and that they really believed in themselves.
Everything from there indicated otherwise. No phone contact available, which they claim is due to multiple locations, although multiple locations do not preclude phone contact. Then I kept asking what countries they were located in, and the person I was chatting with refused to tell me. Admittedly, that freaked me out, and I was probably more nervous and uncomfortable after that. Eventually, as I kept asking WHY locations were a secret, one of the team did give me a list of countries where they are based.
The team hides their identities, and even their Instagram accounts. Wouldn't the team great at building Instagram want to show off their robust accounts?
One of them was saying there is a list of the team and Instagram accounts on intercom cards. I found nothing, kept asking what intercom cards are, and if he would send a link, but no link was sent. Finally one of them said that they had to protect their identities, but she sent her links. Not one of her social media accounts mentions GetRiver. The only answer I got about why they hide their identities, is "Because it's our choice" so I said we should just drop it, and let the work speak for itself. As a follow up, now one team member is finally explaining that intercom is the chat box, and she says that during chat the identity is there. I don't recall it that way, but my memory is not always perfect, and now can't verify one way or another because my account has been deleted.
One of the team is now saying that I was stalking by trying to find out who I would be working with if I went forward and gave them my credit card. Again, to me it's troubling that they are not forthcoming about the team members. Privately, and now publicly, I sincerely apologize if I made anyone feel that way.
If all you want is followers, and you don't mind spending a lot of money for it - then go for it. Some people can make money just by having followers.
If you want sales, interactions, and anyone interested in your business, this does not seem the place to get that. A huge percent of followers almost instantly unfollow. Over the entire week trial, not one single person commented on anything, and there was not one single click to my web site.
One more hint of trouble, there is no way to unlink your own account from GetRiver other than to change your password. They have to delete the account for you.
It is rare that I will write a negative review of anyone. Sometimes people just have a bad day, and we never know what is happening. But this site truly troubles me. It's not that I know they have bad intent, but it seems dubious that the identities of this small team are not readily available. Most sites have a page where they introduce the team.
