Similarly to many others, I didn't take their additional insurance and sure enough, they're trying to bill me for damage. I didn't take pictures or video, but luckily did take full insurance through the broker I used.
The damage theyre claiming I caused includes a bit of paint damage which has gone rusty - no way that could possibly have happened in a 3 day rental.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.

THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY MUST BE AVOIDED BY ALL MEANS!!!!!
They tried to charge me for a damage that wasn't caused my myself, unfortunately for them I had DATED pictures and videos I took on returning the vehicle.
Despite making my booking and purchasing comprehensive insurance with my broker try tried to get me to purchase extra insurance from them and if you refuse, they would deliberately make a scratch on the vehicle just to extort money from their customers.
My Letter
With regards to the charge of 1,300.48 PLN (£270.00) that was charged on my credit card, I would like to make it clear that I have images and recording with a DATE, TIME (10.29AM) & LOCATION that evidence the condition of the vehicle when it was parked in your bay at Krakow Airport.
The last email states that Global Car Rental customers are liable for any damages that happens to the vehicle after it has been returned and your company has up 24hrs to check the vehicle which I find ludicrous, because the statement below insinuates that you have a 24hour window where by you can hold your customers liable for a damage that can be caused by a third-party after they have retuned the vehicle safely and departed the country which is clearly an avenue to exploit your customers.
“We are obligated to check the car condition at the same day of return – up to 24 hours from the hour of return. Customer is responsible for the car condition until we will make an inspection.”
Find blow an extraction from my previous email that has been highlighted in yellow clearing stating how I exercised my duty of care on returning your vehicle back to the airport parking bay.
On returning the vehicle back to the multi-story carpark at Krakow airport, I inspected the vehicle with my wife and a dated picture and video recording was made as evidence that the vehicle was returned in the original condition it was taken. I also asked the gentleman whom I handed the keys back to at the reservation desk if he would come with me to conduct a final inspection of the vehicle, and he stated that if everything was fine he did not have to inspect the vehicle and I replied that I did inspect the vehicle and I can confirm that the vehicle was in the same condition I received it.
I would like to take this opportunity to implore you to revise your vehicle return terms and conditions by employing someone to conduct a visual inspection of your vehicle, because this is creating loophole for client exploitation.
I have attached pictures evidencing this alleged incident and would be raising this dispute with my credit card company over this unauthorised charge to my credit card.
ALWAYS USE CREDIT CARD AND MAKE CLEAR VIDEOS WITH DATE AND TIME.

Ryanair and global-rent-a-car company
I regret that i have rented a car with Ryanair. The Ryanair.com was just a searching engine, but it hides rules from real renting company as much as it is possibile. I read the rules, but important informations are hidden. on the GLOBAL RENT A CAR The price become 40% more...
We obtained different Class of car( they told it was a better car, but please... they gave me looong combi instead of my small-car choince)
When car was taken back everything was ok (nobody wanted to see like it was also in the morning). I came back home and received a mail that there is a news scratch on the roof. I came there to explain- they told me "don't worry" becouse the photo may be wrong/it was there earlier (do they know what od rented?!)/it is too small (>10cm). They have no photos to show me ("it was sended to Germany to decide/ other person made them/ call technical departament/ I know nothing etc).
Im the email there was no information about how long does it takes to get a decision, so i have lost my time going there.
The boy at reception told me that probably i haven't rent a car earlier... The rules are ok, but its wasn't my first time and i knew how to read documents. There were no clear Informations about extra costs and week-waiting to obtain a decision.
The car was clean, and the ride was ok, but i couldn't wash the front glass (lack of washing fluid)

Shame there are no zero stars available to give. Got a car after 30 minutes bickering with an idiot employee who insisted that because my credit card does not show my full FIRST NAME (had my initials and obviously full surname) it might have not been my card. Then extremely annoyed I just looked at the car body, but not at the tyres. That was a huge mistake, which I realised while driving in the rain and nearly crashed - the front tyres had NO TRACKS! Spent a day to sort it out, and lots of money on international phone calls. Absolutely criminal company, now I'm trying to get the money back for rental, they gave me... £20. Never again, stay away, go elsewhere.

A hidden use of GPS trackers in rental cars is in the EU is not allowed if they don’t ask you a written consent.
Block the payment from your credit card by the bank, file a complaint to European Data Protection Supervisor and then criminal complaint to the public prosecutor.
Please read my other posts and contact me please (yannis.kr at outlook.com).

Do not use this company, they claim no one available to inspect car on return and then charge you the excess with no notice or explanation. Untrustworthy

Below is a copy of email sent to Global Rent A Car Wroclaw Airport. The car in question is a Nissan QASHQAI REG: SK519RM
Their response on several occasions was Rules are rules and you have to pay!
I have to say this again very clearly:
1. You rented me a car with a fault that made the car start to vibrate at about 120kph /130kph during acceleration, in AUGUST, the car at that time also had BAD BODYWORK damage.
2. You rented me the same car on the 9th SEPTEMBER, the bodywork was fixed, I asked if there was another car available and you agent said NO.
3. I asked about the car vibrating at speed on the motorway and he told me everything had been fixed.
4. We took the car and when on the motorway the car was exactly the same vibrate at about 120kph /130kph during acceleration.
5. We chose to use the SAT/NAV and route the car to avoid motorways because of the “fault on the car”.
6. We set up the SAT/NAV to travel from Zakopane to Solina, avoiding Motorways BECAUSE OF THE FAULT ON THE CAR.
7. We followed the SAT/NAV, we have no knowledge of the area or border lines and we crossed the border line by mistake.
8. We did not want to go to Slovakia we did not realise we had crossed the border until my telephone sent me a message about being in Slovakia.
9. IF I WANTED TO CROSS THE BORDER I WOULD HAVE PAID YOU THE €60. I DID NOT WANT TO CROSS THE BORDER.
10. YOU ARE “RENTING A CAR OUT WITH WHAT MGHT BE, A SERIOUS FAULT” AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN INFORMED ABOUT IT.
I WOULD LIKE YOU TO GET THE CAR CHECKED BY PROFESSIONAL AND SOMEONE
TEST THE CAR ON THE MOTORWAY. YOU NEED TO SHOW YOU CARE ABOUT THE
SAFETY OF YOUR CUSTOMERS, NOT JUST MAKE MONEY FROM THEM.
11. I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE CROSSED THE BORDER BY “MISTAKE”
12. €239 IS TOO MUCH NONEY FOR A MISTAKE, IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I
AM SAYING AND TRUST ME YOU SHOULD CHARGE ME THE €60. I DID NOT WANT
TO TRAVEL ABROAD!
I am 65 years old, I work for the emergency services in the United Kingdom (England)
I have no reason to lie to you, I just want you to understand the situation we did not
want to cross the border, we just followed the sat/nav and it was a mistake.
I have always been very happy with your company but this has really upset me.
Thank you.

The worst hire company I had rented the car from. They have charged me 70 euros for chocolate stain. I have never ate chocolate in the car!!!!I'm really sorry I did not take a picture when giving the car back so I don't have proof in my hands. I will never hire from this company ever again.

The VERY VERY RARE 5* Ratings are an “interesting anomaly??” Are they REAL??!! Global’s repetitive “teflon” responses are similarly interesting.

I've rented cars from Global Rent-a-Car in Krakow several times now over the past 6 years and every time the process and service has been great. I've never encountered any issues with payments or been hit with any hidden costs following the return of vehicles. Occasionally they will try and up-sell you on all inclusive packages etc, but as I get my excess insurance from a third party for the whole year I just tell them to give me the basic, cheap package and they're always fine with me.
I can't comment on the experience people have had at different locations but if you just want the best price at Krakow I'd recommend these guys.

All reviews are genuine. This is the worst rental company ever. We rented cars all over the world and never had so many problems as with this company. They are scammers! Today they refused to rent us a car, because of a initial of a name on credit card. Of course if you pay their expensive insurance, then it will turn out that they can accept absolutely everything. We had our own insurance, so they needed to create a problem to rob us. Avoid this company, if you don't want to ruin your holidays. Stay away from them! Helpline is also useless.

I have booked the car for four weeks from the Global Car Rental in Wroclaw/Poland via Argus Car Hire website.
Despite the fact that the whole process of booking was very quick and easy, our problems began when we came to collect the car on arrival from the UK in Wroclaw.
First of all, the renting agent at Global had insisted that I have to pay additional €10 a day for the fact that I am 69 years old, although at the time of booking it was confirmed that the rental fee includes older driver. After intervention from Argus agent it was eventually rectified and confirmed that no extra charge should apply, so much of the disappointment of the Global agent, who even admitted that the news regarding older drivers came to life in June, but he didn’t have a chance to read and implement it although it was already 8th July.
We were thinking of cancelling the hire all together, but as we really needed a car, we took it.
On collection, at the first glance, the car had quite a lot of damages, scratches and dents all over the body and especially on the rims of the wheels. We took quite a lot of photos and when I questioned the agent about the state of the car, I was told that I would receive a full previous damage report via email. I have never received this report and was unable to check what was on it. I asked about the report when I was returning the car after four weeks and was told that they had wrong email address (with a double mistake in it ???), and that was the reason I did not get it. All previous correspondence regarding the rental was received without any problems, so where the incorrect email address came from, who knows - another cover up for a rip-off. Eventually the agent printed out the report and gave it to me.
As we already had a bad experience at the time of collection, I had decided not to drop the key in the box as advised, but to wait for the agent to have a final look at the car.
Straight away he found a scratch (about 1cm long) on the rim of the wheel which looked quite old to me, but insisted that it was a new scratch as it was not marked on the damage report.
We were also told that the car was dirty, although it was hoovered inside and outside was also clean without mad or dust marks or so ever. The final report shows in one place that the inside of the car was clean and in another place that it was dirty - confusion all the way.
Finally, I was told that I would be charged for the scratch on the rim and the cleaning of the car and that my credit card would not be released for 21 working days???
We have been renting cars all over the world for at least 30 years and never had such an unpleasant experience dealing with uncooperative and not very polite staff.
I would never recommend the Global Rent a Car to anyone, quite opposite - keep away from them as far as you can.

Please, please stay away from this company. Don't be fooled by low prices. They will catch you on something really small and than you will pay big time. This is my second time that I was charged extra for ridiculous things! First time for a damaged car - scratches. Sounds funny but it wasn't me! Second time they rejected my credit card because had initial on it!!! Yes! £115 extra on £35 rental...
Stay away!!!

I'm really not satisfied with the car I got. I paid for the SUV. In the description it was written that it will be VW Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai or Kia Sportage. I also called to make sure that I would get one of these cars and was informed that I would get it. At the airport, I found out that unfortunately none of these cars are available and that there is a Toyota Avensis Estate for me. An employee apologized to me and said that this is the only car I can get. So I asked them to refund my money because I paid £ 60 more for the SUV. He asked the other employee how we could sort the problem out but he said that the Toyota Avensis Estate is the same as an SUV. Personally, I said that this is not an SUV and I want a refund of £ 60 because the SUV costs so much more. So I got an email where I have to file a complaint. Refund should be done immediately on the spot because an SUV is not Estate, as one of the employees convinced me of. Ultimately, I took the Toyote Avensis Estate to not waste any more time. After driving a few kilometers, I turned on the air conditioning and there was a terrible smell in the car, everyone had a headache and stomachache and it was hot outside. So we turned off the air conditioning on the highway and we aired the car, after turning on the air conditioning it stank again and we had that for a few days. This is how you earn money. The customer pays for an SUV, he gets a estate that is much cheaper and is said to be the same car. They cannot pay you back and if you are not satisfied, you have to submit a complaint somewhere by e-mail and convince them that the Estate is not an SUV to get a refund of overpaid money. Nightmare

I was quite scared after reading all those reviews but GloBal surprised me positive. I rented a car In Krakow Airport. Staff were friendly (especially guy on return ;)) I had no issue with them. One think car was quite damaged and I supposed to get Mercedes and I got Kia (what I wasn't happy), over wise was ok. On return I asked if someone can go and check the car with me to avoid any surprises and they did it.

Very bad. We booked a car with full insurance from booking.com to pick it up at Chania's airport in Crete, Greece. When we arrived the car rental employees asked our permission to bind 850 euros from our bank account which of course we refused and claimed that they didn't know what this insurance covered, so they suggested to cancel the first one to pay their insurance which was more expensive. They also gave us a different car from the one that we booked. It was very small and narrow, our suitcases where placed at the back seats because they couldn't fit on the boot. Also, the car wasn't at the airport when we arrived and we had to walk 1 km with our suitcases to take it from the car rental shop.

THE REVIEWS ARE VERY TRUE. Rzeszów was the same. FORCED Into buying insurance by a scum bag of an operator. Making extra costs up on the spot. We had no choice to take the car. SCAMMERS. I can’t understand how they can keep getting away with it.
I have a very big social media following and secretly filmed them. So will be posting.

Disgusting service from Global Rent a Car at Chopin Warsaw airport. Long wait before I finally managed to pick up the car... later found out it was nowhere near what I had on my voucher (among tho other families in the very same situation). Person at office desk very rude. When I contacted my car rental broker (Argus Car Hire) the advised to refuse the car and get one elsewhere, they were extremely helpful!
AVOID GLOBAL CAR RENTAL - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I hired a car from Global Rent A Car for a period of 6 weeks over the summer.
The price was by far the cheapest.
I didn’t have the issue mentioned in many reviews here, regarding the credit card name, as my full name was on the credit card.
The handover went well although they did try to sell the extra insurance, which I had to decline a couple of times. I have a separate annual car hire excess insurance, so no need for it.
I’d booked a VW Jetta, or equivalent and received a Toyota Corolla, which I’d say was equivalent.
The car was just under 2 years old with around 50,000 Km on the clock.
I asked if there was damage on the car and I was told there was. (Quite a lot actually - almost every panel).
I went to the car and it was wet / raining and difficult to see damage. I chose to video the whole car outside and inside.
The rental agreement is emailed to you just after you sign the agreement on their tablet.
I hardly used the car during the time I was there, around 800 Km. It was garaged when not in use.
I returned the car full and clean after a car wash / vacuum, as I was told there is a PLN 250 fee for cleaning, during the pick up.
I handed the keys over and got my flight.
A day or so later, I was told that there was new damage on the car. The next day I received pictures of the damage and an invoice / receipt. Around £310 was debited from my credit card.
I reviewed the video I made and the damage they claimed I’d done was clearly on the video. I objected the charge, giving links to the date / time stamped video, with screenshots clearly showing the damage.
A few days later they accepted that the damage was there and they processed a refund, which took a few days to show up in my account. I didn’t get a full refund of what was debited, due to the exchange rate fluctuation but I’m happy that the majority was refunded.
Even though I had the excess insurance, I didn’t have to use it in this case, as clearly the damage was already there.
My advice to anyone hiring a car is to always have that annual car hire excess insurance policy. It costs less than £50 a year in Europe and you have piece of mind, should you get an excess bill.
I’ve given 4 stars as I would have expected a younger vehicle than that supplied, with less damage.
