Visited Go Outdoors in Lakeside…
Visited Go Outdoors in Lakeside Thurrock today looking for a waterproof jacket for my wife. We were very well looked after by Rhianna who went out of her way to assist us with our choice. Her keenest to get things right was refreshing and we ended up purchasing what was probably one of the most expensive jackets in the store. She is a credit to the store.

If the outdoors is your thing then the Thurrock store is well worth a visit. Great selection of outdoor walking/hiking & camping kit all nicely laid out. Had a few questions and staff were excellent.

Visited new Thurrock store
Visited new Thurrock store. Very disappointed. Initial thoughts were where do we start? Finding items were difficult. Where we usually go to men’s or women’s trousers or jackets etc we couldn’t-everything was brand listed. So if you want trousers you had to visit each brand, then find another brand. It was quite awkward. Used Go Outdoors for years. Not sure I will anymore after this poor experience. Especially as changing rooms are locked with no one on duty so you have to find a key holder. Felt like a suspected shoplifter and not a valued customer!! Quite a poor experience! Didn’t enjoy one part of the experience.

Poor
We went to the new shop in lakeside. Not impressed. The goods are now sorted by brand name not by, trousers, jackets etc so we had to cover some ground to look for a down jacket for my mother,. difficult to find and the cherry on top was ostensibly being treated like a criminal when my partner wanted to try something on. Changing rooms were locked so we had to search for someone to unlock them. They checked every item (two) she had but thankfully l stopped short of a search- then lingered whilst she tried them on. We have spent a lot of money over the years at go outdoors, but it seems the move to being a more upmarket store have left us behind. We’d just prefer a shop that works, so will go elsewhere in future for our outdoor gear.

Visited the store today before they move to another unit nearby. Staff were incredibly helpful, Andonis and Lucy were brilliant in helping me select my first 'proper' bushcraft knife and were very helpful in sorting out my membership. Will definitely be back when they move to the bigger unit.

Fishing Tackle
Easy to look online and the shop was well laid out even though the shop will moving premises in may. The stock was low on the fishing tackle but that's because shop is moving so understand why.
