General room for improvement in the walking shoes department.
Not only is this shop in general very overstimulating all the time, our visit today left us empty-handed. We wanted to try on some shoes which need to be fetched from a staff-only area and tried on. We waited around for an age at an unmanned desk with no staff members in sight, and we're about to give up before a young lad finally appeared and offered to summon a more qualified coworker. Said coworker (a nice enough lad himself) arrived, brought us the shoes we wanted to try on, and then completely vanished again so we couldn't ask for more sizes or advice on our purchase. We left without buying a thing, fed up of waiting around. In the past we've also dealt with staff members who sound like they're frankly fed up with having to speak to customers, which leaves a sour taste when you have to ask to have your feet measured etc.

A lovely experience
A lovely experience. I went in for some swimming shorts and a picknick blanket and the assistant Lauren was so helpful and kind. Store was clean and tidy.

Very disappointed
I have to be honest, personally I have been extremely disappointed with my latest experience with Go Outdoors! My husband and I were unable to purchase what we consider, basic camping products in store so ordered on line for collection in store and every time we did this a few days plus later I received an email to say they’d cancelled my order and then another to say they’d issued a refund! Needless to say we’re very dissatisfied with the service from Go Outdoors and ended up buying the items we needed elsewhere for equally competitive prices with free delivery :-)

We are sorry to hear about your recent experience. We understand how disappointing it must have been to find the items unavailable in store, only for your Click & Collect orders to be cancelled several days later and refunded after you had already made alternative arrangements.
While order cancellations can sometimes occur due to stock discrepancies, we appreciate that this does not lessen the frustration caused, particularly when you needed what you felt were basic camping essentials. We also recognise that the repeated cancellations and delay in notifying you fell short of the service you expected from us.

Confused!!
Checked stock on line - 6 in stock
Went to store to purchase and advised all sold that day!!!
Did click and collect next day at 1pm, told could collect at 6 pm.
Arrived to collect at 6pm and asked if had delivery that day to be told no deliveries had come in today but had one in Stock ready to collect!!
Totally confused !!!

Joshua at the York store was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He introduced a tent I hadn’t previously considered which turned out to be better made and more suitable. Excellent customer service.

A first visit to Go Outdoors Vangarde…
A first visit to Go Outdoors Vangarde York. Wow what a shop I think they offer everything. We went to look at a shelter to go with our camping setup. I think we were in there an hour before looking at shelters and had to swap our basket for a trolley. Every interaction was positive, great customer service and knowledge. A big shout out to the staff on the tills for their advice and help... Josh, Erin and Izzy a great example of patience and outstanding customer service ...thank you

Great sleeping bag, great price
Great product, staff very helpful when I went to click and collect. However, the confirmation email said I would be contacted when my sleeping bag was in store, but I didn't get any kind of message.

Morgan and Erin were super helpful and…
Morgan and Erin were super helpful and friendly when we had came to the York store. They served us at the till, were very welcoming and gave us lots of advice when enquiring about Yeti coolers!!
All the staff that we spoke to in the shop about camping gear were excellent with their knowledge and took the time to help us and advise us. We will definitely be coming back to this store! Thanks guys! You’re amazing!

Hassle free warranty.
Had to return a dometic fridge that had a rare intermitent issue with the display. Exchanged was easy and fast josh and the rest of the team at York did a fantastic job as I had lost the reciept amd there system had changed,they managed to access the old system to access my reciept all without being asked. Great customer service

Part of my item was missing
Part of my item was missing. Customer service cannot help as it was bought in store which is a 2hr round trip away. Store do not answer phone. My only option therefore is to spend 2 hrs returning to the store which is not in a location I would usually travel to.
Update - when I finally got through to the store they were really helpful & resolved my issue quickly.

Excellent in store service.
Hubby couldn't find what he wanted in store, till we asked SUE and she not only took us to the Tilly hats, but explained alot of facts about them, helped him choose and got hubby to part with his money (which is not an easy thing). She was a breath of fresh air as far as in store service in concerned.

We visited GO Outdoors York Vanguard just before closing time to look at a tent, and the service we received was outstanding.
The staff were incredibly helpful, taking the time to explain the tent in detail without making us feel rushed. Their knowledge and advice gave us the confidence to go ahead and buy it.
A special mention goes to Izzy on the tills, who kindly kept the store open for us while we completed our purchase. She was also fantastic with our kids, keeping them entertained while we sorted out a bank transfer. Nothing felt like too much trouble.
It's refreshing to come across people who genuinely care about providing great customer service. Izzy and the rest of the team are a real credit to GO Outdoors. Thank you for making our visit such a positive experience!
