They’ve expanded their scam into the Scottish Borders. Received a letter yesterday. As others below have, I’d already checked that you can’t up your capacity and keep the same FIT payments.

Received letter to the home owner - no business address. It sounded marvellous, but knowing there are no grants, something sounded amiss. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write a warning here.

Even if they would actually install panels, the fact that they state that there is a “grant” is untrue. At best it’s a “sale.” No such govt grant exists. And calling it a “scheme” again implies a government-funded initiative when it’s simply a private business whose phone number doesn’t work during business hours. Why would anybody trust anything else they write?

Just checked with my FIT provider, just in case the streets were paved with gold, and they have confirmed this is not true at all

Just received a letter in post addressed to Home owner yet another scam.

Agree with everyone else. Just got letter to 'Home owner' in Cambridge. It's a pack of lies and obviously a scam. How do they keep getting away with it?

"The Green Home Scheme is a third-party marketing company that acts on behalf of its partners", it state this on their web site, so they have no money to give away, and the £4000 giveaway is, you guessed it, a SCAM.

scam - letter claims all sorts of falsehoods. do not touch!

Claims that existing FIT will be honoured, not according to my Utility - new User and a new REDUCED Rate.

Difficult to find out much about this Business online, plenty with similar name(s) - mostly no longer in operation.

No VAT number given, sounds at odds with a Government scheme of a similar name that requers you to have no more than XXK Income into a house to qualify.

Just got letter from this company- like many others reporting this scam. They claim they can get me a grant £4000 to change my existing panels to generate more electricity - but I will not lose my current FIT rate.
According to my contract I cannot change my system and get the same FIT rate. I guess that is so with other Solar systems. Clearly this is a SCAM.

As others have said, no company address, letter came with home owner as recipient, in very small letters at the bottom of the page, says £2000 grant towards an upgraded system, top of the letter says £4000 grant, who pays the rest of the cost? also i am sure you cannot change your solar system as its registered for fit payments when installed, BEWARE.

Total Scam. Writing to loads of people with little factual information.
No reputable Company would hide their details the way these do. Anything through the post, on the 'phone, or by email, that you HAVE NOT ASKED FOR - BEWARE -It's probably a Scam!

Got a mate who received this letter, its clearly a scam, probably by the same people who used to send out the solar panel service and check letter.

But what I'm more suprised abnout is that Dave who in his words is a "I am a solar designer and consultant, MCS and NIC registered (Approved)....." is not aware that you can now upgrade the panels and inverter on a FITS system, the FITS payment is still paid on the original system size though by the payments being pro-rata. So if you had a 4kWp system and now have an 8kWp system you're payments would be based on 50% of generation. Clearly you need to use an MCS registered company, which actually know what they are doing! Go on Dave check it out.

Received the same £4000 discount letter as everyone else. Clearly a scam.

I received a letter with a “Green Homes Scheme” letterhead.

The letter said that I was “eligible for up to £4,000 grant with Green Homes Scheme” to replace my existing solar panels for “new tier one 435W panels”. It said “keep your FIT payments”.

A quick internet search does not find any official grant for solar PV currently available and any changes to a system receiving FIT payments may cause a problem with payments.

The website address on the letter is in tiny white writing on green and with no postal address. Any reputable company would surely not send a letter like this.
