Jack Harrison-Ord was amazing! Friendly and informative without hard selling, it was honestly refreshing! Ive not had a VW before and he explained all the features and how that would compare to my current car. He reassured me about any concerns I had and made the whole thing incredibly straightforward. He has been an absolute pleasure to work with! Thank you so much again Jack!

So your response now is to go back to the dealership that ignored me in the first place and will ignore me again. Also I have emailed complaints twice as you asked in your original reply and you have ignored me. I tell you what why do you not do the decent thing and reply to me as you have all my details as you requested. Again you are showing that you are completely uninterested in any customer after you have got their money. Why should I spend all of my time having to contact you countless times be ignored, not given call backs, write emails time and time again explaining the same problems. I presume you think customers will just give up!

Purchased a used Volvo V60 back in March 26, initial experience of the sales staff was positive, friendly and helpful. After collecting the vehicle experienced two issues.
Firstly purchased the paint protect from the dealer, the paint protection/ceramic coating was fault with various marks over the vehicle, after contacting the dealer they did refunded cost of the coating finally as the product which was applied was applied correctly. Was inconvenient as needed to find company to remove faulty ceramic coating and reapply new ceramic coat which cost more than the refund I received plus time to inconvenience complete process.
Secondly, dealer made an administration error and completed the V5 log book in a different customers name and address. After alot of back and thought with the dealer and the DVLA, I managed to sort new V5 log book with correct information with the DVLA at a cost of £25 after 12 weeks after the purchase of the vehicle. Still waiting for the reimbursal of the £25 from the dealer due to their administration error.
Happy with the car, as described and priced well, just a shame about the after care from the dealer and problems experienced which should have been easily fixed, shouldn't have happened.

Put car in for service and technician sent a video saying that gearbox oil, haldex oil and brake fluid all needed changing at a cost of several hundred pounds . Luckily I recalled that these had all been done by the same garage 3 months earlier so I cancelled that! Check carefully that recommended work actually needs doing.
Happy with previous experiences but this has made me ultracautious for future.

Arrived for a test drive booked a week before. Was denied a test drive, wasn't even shown around the car from outside! Left with less information I could have got from the website sked for business pricing and they basically just said no, even though this is freely available on line. Was hoping the Defender would be my next car but definitely not now if this is how they treat customers. Back to Mercedes lol

Recently had my Audi serviced at Watford. My service adviser Bhavesh was excellent in making sure everything went smoothly from start to finish, keeping me informed as necessary of progress.

They replied on the 20th of May saying I should use their complaints system which I did and I heard nothing. I think they have so many bad reviews they don't care about the way they treat people.

The worst company I have ever dealt with!
Thanks to this experience, I’ve realised that I should stay away from Volkswagen in the future. My car has been in the workshop for two months and they still haven’t been able to fix it.
Whenever I try to call the service department, nobody answers the phone. However, when they are trying to sell you a car, you can be sure you won’t experience these problems—they respond immediately and give you all the attention you need.
Extremely disappointing customer service and aftersales support.

I purchased a Toyota Corolla from Group 1 Toyota Warrington in April 2026.
At the time of ordering the vehicle, I had already paid my initial deposit and had not agreed to purchase any additional products or services.
Later, while I was experiencing difficulties with my finance application and was concerned about whether it would be approved, I received a phone call from a member of the finance team. During that call, I was offered a product called Toyota ProTect (Fabric).
I specifically asked whether this product would have any effect on the approval of my finance application. The response I received was, "I don't know."
As a non-native English speaker, and because I was under considerable stress at the time, I formed the impression that accepting this product might help with the finance process. Based on that understanding, I agreed to it and signed the paperwork.
I later discovered that £599 had been deducted from my £3,000 deposit for Toyota ProTect, leaving only £2,401 as the vehicle deposit. This increased the amount I needed to finance and reduced the benefit of my deposit.
I accept that the product was included in the paperwork, but I do not feel that its optional nature, value, or impact on my deposit were explained clearly enough. Had I fully understood that this product had no connection whatsoever to finance approval, I would not have agreed to purchase it.
I was also disappointed that when I later contacted the dealership with questions regarding servicing and warranty requirements, I received no response.
I am satisfied with the vehicle itself, but I was disappointed by the way this add-on product was sold and by the lack of communication and support after the purchase.

Bought a Mercedes from Mercedes Liverpool. Gone through right to reject process due to car breaking down 5 times in 8 months.
However ombudsman deemed in our favour and instructed to pay refund back.
Called group 1 twice and emailed all documentation to complain the way Liverpool Mercedes has dealt with us, however they have just buried their head in the sand and we have no reply.
Really poor service from themselves and Mercedes Liverpool, been given all money back but still waiting on refund for deposit, which a manager called John said he’s not paying.

We purchased a VW Used Approved Tiguan from Group 1 Volkswagen Chester. Two days later, the engine cut out completely whilst travelling at 70mph, requiring recovery by the AA. The attending technician informed us that they had previously attended the same vehicle for a similar issue before our purchase.
We immediately exercised our right to reject the vehicle and returned it to the dealership. What followed was three weeks of poor communication, ignored emails, unreturned phone calls and repeated promises of call-backs from management that never materialised. We were given conflicting information by different members of staff and were left having to chase constantly for updates.
Particularly disappointing was the conduct of our original salesman, who was rude and patronising, and gave false information to us multiple times, and the Used Approved Sales Manager, who despite multiple emails, telephone calls and a scheduled appointment, never once contacted us directly and failed to attend the meeting arranged with him.
Despite us making it clear in writing on multiple occasions that we were rejecting the vehicle and did not consent to any repairs, the dealership proceeded to replace the fuel pump and then informed us that the vehicle was ready for collection.
Ultimately, we had to escalate the matter to Citizens Advice and Volkswagen UK, and prepare for legal action before the dealership finally agreed to a full refund.
From reading other reviews, it appears we are not the only customers to have experienced similar issues.
If you are a consumer reading this who is in a similar situation, keep everything in writing and escalate matters to Volkswagen UK if necessary. Know your rights, and don’t let a salesman tell you otherwise!
To Group 1: please do not respond to this review asking me to contact you to discuss this matter further. Throughout this process we repeatedly attempted to engage with you for support and received no response. Should you wish to discuss the matter, our contact details are already held on file.
The one exception to this ridiculous saga was Tyler, the Finance Manager, who, upon becoming aware of the situation, acted promptly and ensured that our refund was processed the same day, and was very apologetic. For that, we are grateful.

From the moment you enter the Mercedes Bishop Stortford showroom you are treated extremely well. The staff are very professional and knowledgable and really try to find the perfect car for you. A big thankyou to Alex Pollitt who provided excellent advice and support to help us choose our new Mercedes.

Azharul was very helpful and friendly, and there was no pressure or hard selling at any stage. I felt completely comfortable throughout the process. He took the time to listen carefully to what I wanted, understood my needs, and offered options that suited them perfectly.
This is the second time I’ve used Toyota Medway, and on both occasions I’ve been very pleased with my purchase. Azharul handled all the paperwork and arranged the road tax, making the whole experience smooth and hassle-free for me.

Very positive experience in buying a second hand / nearly new car from Group1 Land Rover Watford. From initally seeing the car on their website, they immediately sent through a personalised video, reserved the car for me, to allow me time to travel to showroom to inspect. Helpful & friendly staff made the whole process very straightforward and from initally seeing the car, I had purchased and taken delivery within 1 week.
