I would be 'very wary' using them

I found 'Gym Service UK' or is it 'Gym Repair Service UK' (gymservice.co.uk) whilst I was looking for ‘Tunturi service’ on Google on 23/11/25 & emailed 'Gym Service'. Within an hour Jamie R had emailed me four times offering a full service for £160 including VAT. I paid a £60 deposit & booked an appointment for Monday (24.11.25) at 12.30.

The ‘engineer’, who didn’t really announce or introduce himself as anyone, but I assumed it was Jamie R. It looked as though he was carrying a small toolkit & had walked to our small development. No sign of a car or van. I left him in my study for an hour or so and appeared to have been taken it apart. He then told me “all was done’ and wanted £100 cash. I said I agreed to pay by card & anyway I don’t have cash. He took my card & didn’t offer any receipt printed or emailed one later.

Within 24 days (18/12/25) the RHS pedal on my Tunruri exercise bike was making a louder noise than the original fault I had reported to Mr Jamie R on the day ‘he’ visited.

I had contacted him (by email) a number of times and he eventually responded on 11/01/26 wanting the serial number of my Tunturi Exercise bike which I gave by return. I emailed Mr Jamie R on 17/01/26 saying I had heard nothing from him and wanted a receipt with a VAT number. The website has no address, no registered business name or number, no landline or no VAT number when he’s charging VAT. An address listed for Gym Service UK is Cambourne, Cambridge or Leicester. I’ve searched Companies House and can’t find any information.

He emailed me at 16.00 on 17/01/26 with:

“Yes of course I will bring all this information for you when I return to look at the bike“.

Why would I want an Anonymous/Incognito/Secretive person in my house, who also parks his car/van away from the house some distance away?

I’m asking neighbours with a Ring Camera to display the car/vans registration number that arrived.

I have contacted my credit card company and will be speaking to various people.

(26/01/26) After giving 'Gym Repair Service UK' 14 days to respond I heard nothing. I contacted my credit card company again on 26/01/26 & today (28/01/28) received a full refund of £160.

Scammers?

As others have mentioned this appears to be a scam operation we were charged £160 to diagnose what was supposedly a faulty control board. The engineer said it was not that expensive a part to replace and would send us a quote. After hearing nothing for several days I emailed and was told by Jamie that he would would chase it up. Several days later having still heard nothing I emailed again and then again after that with no response. Would recommend you avoid this company.

Absolutely would NOT recommend

Absolutely would NOT recommend. Is this just some scam???Charged me £160 to come to look at a spin bike we had, told me it needed a new control panel, which would be £80 and that he would come back and fix it. I asked him to send me an invoice for the £160 "call out" fee. I never received it. and haven't received any communication since. Despite my trying to contact via email, text and phone, we've never heard anything since. Not even a plumber charges that much for a callout. I will be taking this further with my bank and the small claims court.

I am happy to recommend Gym Servicing. Jamie was very responsive on email, was punctual and priced the job keenly. Life Fitness were not willing to repair an old running machine of theirs that had been in storage for 3 years. Jamie repaired the machine without fuss, which is now in good working condition.

This bloke scams you

Made an appointment and paid a £60 deposit
First appointment was missed due to “van problems” which seems to be a bit of a common issue reading other comments on here
Another appointment made, yes you turned up and looked at my machine and said it needs a new part that you would source
Since then there has been no contact despite several attempts by myself to contact you, like others on here have been ghosted
You was at my house for no longer than 30 minutes and charged £160
Absolute con
Avoid this scammer at all costs

Brilliant Service

Jamie is brilliant, he is knowledgeable, professional & has fixed our treadmill & Pilates reformer. We highly recommend.

Ghosted

Seems to be a trend of them turning up and then ghosting if further repair is needed.
Initially good communication and service, but similar to others on here, after they said they would look for the part and return to repair, they turned into a ghost.

A no-show, lack of communication and timely response

Booked an appointment, and the person who confirmed the appointment via email, and just happened to be the same person who would be making the visit, the Operations Manager, was a no-show.

I was later asked if I had a confirmation number or had paid a deposit, neither of which I was asked for when I booked. I was also told that there were 'van' issues, and that's why the person was delayed.

I left several voicemails, emails, etc. There was no response until early in the afternoon, so I lost half a day waiting around. A waste of time that I had to take off work and will not get back.

So I cancelled the appointment and probably saved myself a lot of hassle, given the other experiences listed here.

I did explain there was van issues and apologised. I gave you a time slot of 2-3. You clearly were not having a good day and asked to cancel. I said yes of course and cancelled your appointment. There really wasn’t any need to be so easily triggered over such a small thing.
You then sent me this email below:

(Upon reflection, perhaps I was a bit harsh.

I was incredibly frustrated at having to take time off work and then having no-one turn up.

I'm sure you can understand that.

You don't have the best reviews on TrustPilot, but I'm happy to discuss an approach around this and the removal of my review.

Let me know what you think.)

Of course I declined.

Appalling service

Appalling service. Multi-gym was faulty. Engineer turned up, sprayed some oil. Charged £160. Then disappeared indicating it needed a new part which he would order and fit. 6 weeks later he’s ignoring all my messages and is ghosting my calls. Avoid at all costs is my recommendation.

Paid £160 for a call out and still waiting for engineer to make contact. Very disappointed with what looks like being a complete scam. Doesn't answer phone or reply to text and emails. Would definitely recommend not using this company.

Thank you for your review.

I am so sorry about this. I understand the engineer could not make it on the day due to reasons out of his control.
