Awful customer service

Awful customer service, I'm actually shocked how poor they are when you try to get availability, advice, pointed in the right direction.
They asked if I needed anything else, I said I genuinely want some help choosing a product, and they hung up hahah.
I can see a lot of people reviewing since the "new customer service"... It's awful. I'll give my money to a business that want to talk to customers. Halfords has changed in the last 2 years.

Took my payment and did not give me order number and there is no record in my account about the for bike. The website is not user friendly and reliable. Be careful buying online. Now they say we need 7 days to investigate. Not acceptable for a big brand like this

I give Halfords a full 5 stars.

I give Halfords a full 5 stars.

You drive to the store, being able to park up.

You go into the store, select your goods (for example, snow foam), pay, and then leave.

You go home and use the snow foam to clean your car, which is why you wanted some snow foam.

Prices reasonable.

We especially like the fact you actually get the snow foam, don’t wait weeks for it to be delivered. It’s not delivered, you have to argue about a refund, and are not pushed over and verbally abused by the delivery driver.

UNLIKE SOME OTHER COMPANIES OUT THERE.

I recommend Halfords!

Possibly the worst customer service…

Possibly the worst customer service experience ever. Yes, they are very nice, but they only have the power to write down your issue and send it off into the air. You can't talk to a manager, you can't call up your local store, you can't email, you can't use chat, there's no one there. Ordered something. Asked for it to be picked up and returned as too big to go to the store. Two weeks of customer service calls that tell me the same thing: that someone will deal with it in 5 days. Finally get a call from someone who gets angry at me because I can't understand what he is saying. He eventually arranges a DHL pickup. The only thing is, he arranges the pick up from the factory, not from my address. I call to sort out, and he ignores his mistake and again orders a DHL pick up from the factory, not my address. I have now had this parcel for two weeks. I will never buy anything from them.

Helpful Hal at Halfords.

Visited Halfords, Perth this evening. Needed a new battery for a 50 year old MG GBT. Walked in without a clue of what I needed. Hal offered his knowledge and found me the right battery within minutes. Thank you Halfords and a special thanks to Hal - great service.

Worst customer service experience I've ever had.

I purchased a Carrera Crossfire E Men’s Electric Hybrid Bike 2.0 through the Cycle to Work scheme from Halfords, and this has been one of the most frustrating and poorly handled customer experiences I’ve had.

The bike was faulty almost immediately. At collection, it had already been assembled incorrectly in-store and had to be fixed before I could even leave. Within days, the motor began cutting out while riding, displaying an error message.

What followed has now dragged on for over five weeks with no resolution.

I reported the issue promptly and was given a booked appointment, however when I arrived in store I was told I would need to book another appointment to have the bike inspected, the next available being in over two weeks. I was told the bike could be replaced if the issue persisted, which it did, but no replacement was ever offered.

After multiple calls, live chats, and in-store visits, I eventually left the bike with the store for repair. I was given a collection date which passed with no update. The bike then sat in the store for 15 days without being looked at because the technician was on annual leave, something no one communicated at the time.

Communication throughout has been non-existent. Every interaction follows the same pattern: “we’ve passed this on,” then silence. Promised callbacks never happen. Even formal complaints and escalations to senior teams have resulted in no direct contact.

Most recently, the issue has been escalated through my employer’s Cycle to Work scheme and is now, apparently, “with someone senior” at Halfords. Even at that level, there has still been no proactive contact or resolution.

Meanwhile, I have been paying for the bike via salary sacrifice while also paying for public transport because I cannot use it. I’ve also incurred additional costs on storage and accessories for a bike that has effectively never worked properly.

This is not just a case of a faulty product — it is a complete failure of customer service. No ownership, no accountability, and no ability to resolve even a straightforward issue within a reasonable timeframe.

At this point, I have lost all confidence in Halfords and will be pursuing a full refund.

I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a bike here, particularly through the Cycle to Work scheme, to avoid Halfords entirely.

Gift Card Issue / Poor Customer Service

I have a valid gift card which I tried to use to purchase camping equipment for this bank holiday weekend. Unfortunately something's happened with Halfords systems and the gift card isn't working. It's still in the validity period, so I contacted Halfords support. Their live chat seems to have disappeared, so called up, and needed a resolution quite quick due to this camping holiday being booked for tomorrow. I was told someone would get back to me, but still waiting. Followed up today and told it can take 5-7 working days. I explained the urgency, but was rebuked. I've now had to cancel the family's bank holiday plans because of this, so not best pleased. Considering this is a Halfords system error and the circumstances, I would expect better customer service than this.

I have a TRADE account - NO PURCHASE HISTORY???

I have a TRADE account. I purchased a battery approx 2 years ago, which had a 5 year warranty. The battery is now failing, yet, even though I have a TRADE account, Halfords is conveniently unable to assist with my purchase history, even though I provide my TRADE CARD. Is the website, it is supposed to show you all your purchases, but again, conveniently, that purchase is not there! Now I need to fork out another £220 for a battery that is sub-standard!!!

Great service at Halfords

I needed my car fob battery changed and yesterday went to the Halfords store in Milton Keynes (store number 0980). There I was served by Malachi who replaced the batteries in both fobs there and then. Malachi was efficient, professional, kind and so very helpful. He is a great credit to Halfords.
Thank you, Malachi!

Life's too short to consider buying from Halfords

Can't give it no stars, unfortunately. Ordered something from their website worth £650, their courier said it had been delivered to me and signed for by me on the Monday (which was impossible as I was 22 miles away, in hospital at the time they stated). Halfords didn't want to know - said I had to wait 7 days whilst they 'investigated'. Then the courier said exactly the same thing the next day, and the day after that, that they'd delivered it on the Tuesday and that I'd signed for it, and then exactly the same thing about Wednesday. Again, untrue, and I have CCTV images to prove no delivery. The legal responsibility lies with Halfords, not their courier, but when I've eventually got through, they simply state I have to wait 7 days. Their offshore callcentre refuse to provide an email address (which I prefer as not only does it allow for clarity for both parties but it's a good legal record). They won't even escalate the issue. Meanwhile, I'm without the item, which I particularly wanted for a Bank Holiday trip, and £650 out of pocket. Never, ever again. What a dire company.

Bait and Switch

I went on the Halfords website to buy some replacement windscreen wiper blades. The website wanted to know my registration, which I gave it. It then showed me the right blades for my car. I bought a set (left and right) blades with fitting. It cost about £30. When I went to get them fitted I was told they were the wrong blades for my car and that I needed to pay another £12 for the right ones bringing to£42. I'm a pensioner and had to save for the £30 now I'm going to have to find another £12 from somewhere. How can this be a good way to trade. It's like bait and switch!

When I tried to contact them on their website I got "403 Forbidden" messages. So, I've had to come here to say what happened.

We purchased 2 low cost adult bikes…

We purchased 2 low cost adult bikes from halfords on line as i did not want to put them into my car. 1 was perfect the second came with a fault. I was advised by halfords telephone support team to take it into halfords whitstable for support. 2 young people building bikes in store were fantastic, offered replacement, but in the end repaired the fault. Met the manager in regard to warranty issues. At every step of the way i cannot fault the e treme levels of customer service. They even showed me (a pensioner) how to look after my bike.
I cannot recomend them more highly, it was a relief and a pleasure the way they dealt with everything.
Well done

Customer service back office is abysmal.

The company I work for made an online purchase. 6 weeks later I am still waiting for a copy of the invoice. On the first 2 calls I was advised that the invoice had been re-issued to the employee who placed the order. On the 3rd call I was advised that the email address it should have been sent to was typed incorrectly, and that the back office would make the amendments and send it out again. 10 days later, still no invoice. On the 4th call today, I was advised that the back office had closed the case without resolving the issue. The case has now been re-opened with a note to the back office to send the invoice. How hard is it to send an invoice?

Fast forward to 14/05/2026. Still no invoice, despite further phone call on 12/05/2026 assuring me that I would receive it within 24 hours. Apparently their tech team are looking into the issue with the emails. In the meantime I have requested it be sent by post as it will arrive quicker.

Terrible online click and collect order experience

I’m extremely disappointed with Halfords’ click and collect service. It’s now two days since I placed the order, my card has been charged, yet there has been no confirmation, no update, and no indication of when (or if) the order will be ready. The situation is made worse by the fact that the gift card is not available, despite payment having been taken. Each day I’ve had to chase customer services, only to be given a reference number and no meaningful support or resolution. I’ve been told it could take up to 7 working days to resolve. Frankly, that’s unacceptable in the 21st century, especially for a straightforward online click and collect order where payment is taken upfront instantly.

Would give Zero starts if i could

Would give Zero starts if i could. Put my car in for MOT which failed and was advised i needed 2 new tyres at a cost of £710 and one was dangerous to drive. After messing me about for 2 days they got the orders wrong and in the end i got fed up and went elsewhere. My MOT PASSED at a local test centre without any issues so Halfords were trying to RIP ME OFF making out my tyres were torn and cut. Absolute BS and I have reported them to the DVSA and made a complaint to their CEO. Never use them again for anything not even a car freshener!
