Super friendly, efficient and a speedy service

As always excellent service at the Newton Aycliffe branch. Our agent listened to our requirements and noted our specific requests on the booking. She also suggested that she mention that we will be celebrating a “milestone” birthday during our holiday 😀

We always use Hays Travel for our holidays. The staff are all so helpful and friendly. Nothing is ever too much trouble. They will go out of their way to get you the holiday you want.

Sian was very helpful and patient as I kept changing my mind. She answered any questions I had fully and was very professional. It was easier to deal with one person so there was no communication error. I had already looked around on the internet but decided to book with Hayes travel as I was able to put a face to a name. I recently booked an Edinburgh/Glasgow Christmas Market trip through Hays Travel Newton Aycliffe and was extremely disappointed with the level of customer service I received.

When I paid the deposit, I was told that someone would contact me when the remaining balance was due. I trusted that, but heard absolutely nothing until the day they rang out of the blue to say the balance needed paying immediately or the trip would be cancelled.

During the first call, I made it clear that I didn’t want the trip cancelled and that I would pay that same day. I was in the middle of an appointment, so I asked for a payment link to be sent to me — which they did — but there was no mention of any deadline or time limit.

A few hours later, before I even had the chance to pay, I received another call saying my trip was being cancelled because the payment hadn’t been made by 4 pm. This was the first time any deadline had been mentioned. Both calls were abrupt and unhelpful, with little understanding or flexibility shown.

I later discovered that an email reminder had been sent, but it had gone into my spam folder. I was specifically told someone would call me when payment was due, so I had no reason to rely on email alone.

While I have now paid the balance, the whole experience was stressful, poorly communicated, and handled very unprofessionally. I expected better from such a well-known travel company.

We’ve been using Hays travel for years now and booking a holiday with them is such a hassle free experience. All the staff are so helpful and knowledgeable I’d recommend booking through them to anyone.

sian helped us book exactly what we needed and helped us get the most out of our trip away by looking at a different but closer airport to the one wed seen, sorted the airport parking out which came with a discount and also suggested the hays mastercard which is something ill definitely look into
