Once upon a time – over 20 years ago, long before Bitcoin, TikTok and robotic surgeons were even a twinkle in the universe – we took our first baby steps into the world of encrypted online solutions for the private healthcare sector. A forward-thinking family unit – made up of key players in the sector – had a lightbulb moment. And from these ideas about a better way to connect healthcare businesses, the foundations of Healthcode were laid. Now those baby steps have become giant leaps for the industry. Continually developing, responding and breaking new ground. Pioneering new ways to improve efficiency and banish ineffective admin processes. All in the interest of making the lives of those using our solutions easier.

Healthcode is a hopeless billing system…

Healthcode is a hopeless billing system unfairly imposed on healthcare providers. The website is confusing, over-complicated, full of bugs (for example- states password has expired and must be changed but doesn't recognise old password when attempting to change- this bug has been present for months), tedious, and support is non-existent. It beggars belief that it is becoming the only way to invoice private insurers- and that providers have to pay to use such a frustrating system.

Never ever have I or my colleagues had the misfortune of using anything so utterly awful
Why do we have to pay for a service which effectively does nothing and customer service is null and void
The information given is contradictory and its a very overly complicated system
BUPA providers Online is so much better

Maddening and frustrating!

Healthcode is the most awful application I have ever had the misfortune to deal with - to add insult to injury we now have to pay for it and also pay to be kept on hold whilst trying to speak to a member of staff. Even when I input all the correct details it keeps on saying the patient is not recognised - what exactly I am supposed to do if I input the correct details and it does not work? It takes hours to get through to anybody! It takes several days for e-mails to be answered. The BUPA billing system is excellent and straightforward - so why can't Healthcode use that as a template? A frustrating, unfair and inefficient monopoly in my opinion.

Non-existent customer service

They started charging for their service and customer support non-existent. To get through to speak to someone takes about 45 mins and not uncommonly when the tone changes and you are about to be connected they hang up on you. The PMI's need to come up something better than this company.

Health code is utterly USELESS

I have just spent over an hour trying to submit ONE invoice and constantly coming up against non existent errors and various other obstructions and have got nowhere. This system was difficult enough to navigate when it was free, now I am having to pay for the dubious privilege of being allowed to use their billing system. I have a number of patients with Vitality insurance, and as a previous poster said, they do not accept any other way of invoicing.
I am considering sending my bill directly to the patients, and asking them to sort out repayment from Vitality themselves.

I am a health care provider who has to…

I am a health care provider who has to use this service as there are no other options.
Unfortunately, I am not sure why we have to waste lots of time on holding calls, not allowing to submit showing error messages when there is not, very poor details, very poor speed. I am not sure this service has chosen by health care insurers to cut their cost but, making healthcare providers life so miserable.

Have spent hours trying to get through…

Have spent hours trying to get through the registration process. The application process is unintuitive, mandatory fields that aren't marked as such suddenly appear, you can't save your progress at any point and it randomly drops you out so you have to start again. Customer service appears to be AWOL. Just spent hours on the phone, to no avail....And that's before you start to consider the ethics of obligatory registration and subscription simply in order to submit an invoice for work you've undertaken for a 3rd party.

Healthcode Monopoly

What healthcode and the big medical insurers have done is appalling.
Suddenly healthcode has appeared out of nowhere and step by step imposed a monopoly on billing for private medical practice. Insurers trying to insist there is no alternative but to use HC is of course simply a way for insurers to pass their costs on to providers while at the same time allowing HC to make a nice fat profit.
Like many others I will also be taking the time to report this little scam to the CMA.

This is such a poor service and now I am being charged for a very poor service. Time and time again i have error come up on invoices. Trying to get help never occurs. it is virtually impossible to speak to someone to gain training on how to review failed bills.
it was frustrating enough when it was free now i'm paying for an utterly useless service

This is my second review for another separate occurrence of the previous problem

This is my second review. After over 2 weeks my account was finally unlocked, however, we’re now back to the same fun and games: every now and again Healthcode decides that your password has expired and must be changed, and we’re now back to the same ludicrous situation where I cannot change my password, because the system claims that “you have entered an incorrect old password” which is simply not true. AGAIN: This is a known bug and has been going on for a long time. So once again, I am unable to bill anyone. Also just to add: my first forced paid subscription payment has just been taken out of my bank account, and it’s actually two separate payments, and neither of the amounts charged make any sense or correspond to what I have billed or my forced subscription. I expect to be writing these reviews monthly now, as I have lost all trust that this bug will ever be fixed.

I can’t get hold of anyone

I can’t get hold of anyone
I’ve emailed numerous times for a response last week saying to subscribe you need the direct debit form and nothing since!
I’m so fuming it’s stopped me working and right now I don’t know fully a way round getting everything invoiced so I don’t have to use them!
They went on and on about charges since November and this is a total shambles

Highly suspect new billing charge - exploitative and will be reporting to CPA. Will no longer be accepting client from insurers that demand the use of Healthcode. Not viable for small businesses.

HELP I CANNOT E-BILL ANYMORE

HELP, i CANNOT E-BILL ANYMORE. Can anyone get hold of Healthcode by phone or email or that silly bot thing. Have called, emailed, used the bot and no one calls you back. I have always used a third party billing system and was only aware of the new clearing system charges end of March as received no email or phone to advise me of these changes. You have to download Internet Explorer to log in and even that doesn't work! What does one do? Awful situation asking for your money, stopping your service then don't have the decency to help resolve this

Healthcode is exploiting Private healthcare providers

I have tried to contact Healthcode both by phone and email regarding their outrageous new compulsory subscription fees which they now require from private healthcare providers who need to submit invoices to medical insurance companies, some of which (ie Vitality) do not accept invoices by any other means. There is no answer by phone after holding on for half an hour and I have had no reply to my email. We are a small organisation and up until this week, Healthcode provided a free service to healthcare providers to submit invoices but now, it would cost over £500/year in order to submit our 3 or 4 invoices a month to Vitality. I will be reporting Healthcode to the CMA for investigation.

Rip-off business practices

Basically running a monopoly, charging extortionate fees to submit invoices, which is not economically viable for smaller healthcare providers who are being forced to use them. Will be reporting to CMA.

Unfair business practice

Healthcode have positioned themselves as an invoicing middle man between private medical insurers and healthcare professionals. A number of PMI are starting to refuse direct invoicing and want to insist that invoices are sent to them via healthcode. This is not the choice of healthcare practitioners but Healthcode now want to force additional invoice fees on practitioners from the 1 April. As result I will have to ask clients to pay up front and recover fees from their private medical insurance thereafter. I will also report Healthcodes unfair practice to the CMA
