Once upon a time – over 20 years ago, long before Bitcoin, TikTok and robotic surgeons were even a twinkle in the universe – we took our first baby steps into the world of encrypted online solutions for the private healthcare sector. A forward-thinking family unit – made up of key players in the sector – had a lightbulb moment. And from these ideas about a better way to connect healthcare businesses, the foundations of Healthcode were laid. Now those baby steps have become giant leaps for the industry. Continually developing, responding and breaking new ground. Pioneering new ways to improve efficiency and banish ineffective admin processes. All in the interest of making the lives of those using our solutions easier.

Predatory Business Practices - Will No Longer Use Them In Future
Have used this service at our clinic for quite a number of years. They are funded, supposedly by health insurance companies, many of which refuse to accept practitioner invoices in any other way. Healthcode have recently contacted us to advise they will now charge practitioners in addition to insurers. This is a cynical strategy. As a small health clinic it’s simply not viable for us to pay the significant fees they are now implementing. Equally, it is unreasonable for them to begin charging practitioners as, I believe, this is a complete abuse of a monopoly position. I will therefore be reporting them for investigation to the governments ‘Competition & Markets Authority’ over this predatory strategy . Effectively we’re being forced to pay for the benefit of submitting invoices to companies for work they have commissioned us to do. I’m not aware of any other business environment where companies have no choice but to actually pay to submit invoices to clients.
Lastly, I contacted Healthcode with the above concerns and received a standard template reply, which totally ignored the queries I made. This move is completely ‘tone deaf’ to the current business and international situation (RE CV19) and penalises health companies who are already struggling. Healthcode should be ashamed of themselves. I’m sure many other clinicians and clinics will be following us in ditching their use of this firm - together with any health insurers who refuse to allow direct invoicing.
