We’ve been searching in the market for long and have met with a lot of consultants. Perry from Helliwell is one of the best we’ve encountered. He’s professional, helpful, and always willing to try sorting out our queries about the property for us so that we can comfortably make our decision. We are glad that we’ve met him.

I recently viewed and rented a property through Helliwell and co.
I called after seeing the property online and spoke to a really lovely and helpful lady called Ramona who booked me for a viewing the following day.
Ramona arrived early and was very knowledgable about the flat and area. She explained the process well and within 10 mins of viewing the property Ramona had sent me through the paperwork I needed to submit an offer.
Within 15 mins I had completed the paperwork and bank transferred my holding deposit, Ramona called to confirm they had received it and submitted my offer to the Landlord.

I later found out that Ramona had been off sick, and I was surprised as she had replied to a couple of emails in that period.

My experience was very positive, this is a reflection on the service I received from Ramona specifically and was refreshing to find someone with her personality and values after a few negative experiences with other estate agents.

I was about to send an holding deposit for a property, but once I found out that they need all my card details including the 3 security digits for the deposit, I had changed my mind.
One more thing I did not agree with that an holding deposit was required before my offer was accepted.

Before this point, I was very happy about the company service.

Rented a property from Helliwell for 11.5 months and it nearly killed us! Got electrocuted while living in one of their properties and the agent didn't fix the issue or provide certification when asked. An electrician fixed the extractor fan which was never wired correctly and made the bathroom light switch live, an issue which continued to happen after repair. There was also an open staircase and missing hand rail so we had to move out, because my wife was pregnant and it was not worth the risk continuing living there.

The agent was completely unsympathetic and found a new tenant to replace us 11 days before our tenancy officially ended. We had the property professionally cleaned, better than the bad state it was let to us, and took photographic evidence of each room before we departed.

The Agent charged us around £900 out of our deposit for early termination, even though there is a new tenant moving in the next day so the landlord was not at a loss - he did not lose rent but Helliwell are milking the fees. Very unethical way to conduct business. Thankfully they are part of the property redress scheme but it's a lengthy process to seek justice.

As constructive feedback, Agent please ensure you receive all EPC, gas and EICR and pass these on to the customer before letting property. It's a simple mistake to make but important to stay safe.

I have worked on a professional basis with Helliwell for many years and have seen them go from strength to strength, they ensure all due diligence is carried out on prospective tenants to make sure the landlords who engage them have the best possible tenants.
