We had an issue with our coop door opener which we had for four years. Hentonix not only took all our equipment back and tested it but solved the issue and gave a a free replacement. Would definitely recommend using them. Fabulous aftercare support

Ordered nearly a month ago. Was told my order was going out early this week after delays in them receiving a motor.. Still no product or even a reply to my email.

The short story is - faults with the Hentronix system have caused our hens to be shut out a number of times, and three of these times hens were killed by a fox (once x 1 hen, twice x ALL of our hens!).

Barely any sympathy from Edward, just questions about how the system is set up. No offer of refunds, no compensation, basically nothing to suggest that Edward stands by his product whatsoever.

I'm very tech savvy and to be honest I could have built something better than this myself, but didn't have time and you'd expect an off the shelf product to just perform.
Well - it doesn't, and with all the time I've had to put in to troubleshooting this thing I may as well have built my own.

The omlet door we have used for nearly 2 years now has never failed, and has only needed batteries replacing once in that time. The Hentronix unit has been relegated to remotely controlling the run door instead (with a camera in the run) so that it's not safety critical.

If you value your hens lives, get literally any other door opener.

I purchased a door for my eglu in March and sadly it failed in July. My observations are:
- when it works it’s great
- a door like this can be life or death for hens - quite literally here where we live - and it HAS to be reliable or give you due warning that it’s about to fail
- the guarantee is only partially helpful. You won’t get a replacement door if it fails - you’ll get caught in weeks of dialogue looking at each possible cause. Not so helpful if your door is part of your hens protection, nor if, like me, you’re not particularly technical or short of extra time or both and the thought of taking individual components apart doesn’t appeal / feels like a massive challenge. I was pretty sure the main circuit board had malfunctioned because my door was completely dead. As in zilch response to anything. I had to work through various solutions via email - which could be very slow - over weeks. Moving the solar panel didn’t help (it was facing south already in full light all day as I politely pointed out several times); it didn’t help charging the battery (because however charged the battery was it wasn’t connecting to the door); it didn’t help trying a new charger; I reached my limit when I had to dismantle the control box / board to try replacing the rechargeable battery unit (also no joy) and the next step was to disconnect parts of the door and send back. I had almost entirely lost the will to keep going by this point and my hens were no safer. And I was even shorter on time because whilst waiting on responses / solutions I’d had to build a new coop with extra security around the hen house because if I hadn’t, my hens would be dead (and yes, I completely suck at building coops too). we have regular fox visits and have lost too many hens to take any more chances with a permanently open door. I couldn’t face more dialogue or more technical drawings, nor more weeks of no door as the nights drew in. I have the choice now of either purchase a new henhouse (I can’t find the parts of the eglu I removed to fit the hentronix, and most other doors won’t fit a Go Up) or simply spend another £60 on top of the existing £220ish to buy a new control box / board which whilst not ideal - the guarantee should run to next March, plus there is the risk it will fail again - I think will fix the issue. It shouldn’t be quite this hard to fix or replace a product that fails after a few months. Long review but I wanted to explain the poor rating.

If there is an issue with the door the communication from Edward is very slow. This maybe due to him being very busy. This does give the impression that your issue is not important.
It took a number of weeks to get my issue solved and the door is now working as it should. I am rating 3 stars for the customer service. I’ve yet to rate the door as it’s now working for the first time.

Pretty much useless customer service. Sent my door through UPS and I was never notified of an attempted delivery. The door was sent back to them and now they refuse to refund the door. I am left with no door and a $350 charge on my cc.

I ordered the automatic door opener/closer for my new Eglu Go Up on the 19th May and paid for it via PayPal, the money was deducted from account on the 20th May. Despite the claims on the website that there is next day delivery via UPS, I am still waiting for order to arrive. I have tried to contact anyone in the company via the telephone number on the website, via the email address and by the message service on the website. I have not received any explanation from anyone in the company either. Unfortunately, Hentronix has the monopoly on door openers for this type of Eglu but they do not provide the service that should be expected.

Ordered a door opener with solar attachment + app in Nov 23. After waiting several months for an update on delivery, I wrote to the company to enquire if they had an estimate when I might receive the opener. For a month, after writing several times with no reply (did not pick up phone calls), I decided that I did not trust the company and opened a claim on PayPal. After around 6 weeks PayPal decided in my favour for a reimbursement.
This whole episode was quite stressful as for several months I felt that it could be a scam and I would not see my 400 pounds back - odd as the Hentronix was recommended by a friend.
I am understanding of small businesses however I do not see how anyone should purchase from them in good faith

Ordered a Hentronix Automatic Door Opener. Returned it as we didn't need it. 2 months later there is still no refund despite multiple emails back and forth. They originally admitted it could be lost in the warehouse. We posted 1st Class signed for so have proof they signed for it. Avoid using this company at all costs!
I feel they take advantage of Hen owners in the hope to scam their way to keep their money. Very dishonest.

I can believe I am writing a bad review again I got my door eventually and it worked well

Then it started playing up, so I emailed Hentronix - got a reply - after fully charging battery But the door was still playing up Lots of back and forth, pictures, try this etc After 4 weeks I will send you a both do you can return for us to fix No box it's now two weeks Suddenly no one answers my emails That's £250 totally wasted and that stress of making sure the girls are kept ok now

It really saddens me that so many customers are being treated so badly It's not a tough product to proved good service for

Great customer service from Edward always polite and very helpful .I've had one of these closers for 5 years now had a couple of getting started niggles emailed and quickly got email with advice back ,unlike other leading door closers these are by far smarter and build to last highly recommend HENTRONIX 😁👍🐔

Our Hentronix unit has worked brilliantly. Recently it failed and as their works are nearby I dropped the unit over to them.
Embarrassingly, fo me, the battery was flat!!! I had naively thought that the solar panel would suffice but with the dull days obviously not!!!!
Not only were they helpful but also VERY diplomatic in pointing out my error!!!!!
All sorted now - phew. Thank upu Hentronixs Team.

Nine months of back and forth ridiculousness from Edward at Hentronix. Asking for photos, video, is the solar power unit in the shade, do I have wifi. Months go by without a word from him.

Then I finally tell him to just send the simple automatic, non-wifi automatic door (like he promised) or I'm writing a bad review.

He immediately offers to send the automatic door and provide a refund. I hear nothing from him for one month. I write a poor review detailing the headache that is Edward and it doesn't show up on the Hentronix website.

Today, out of the blue, I hear from Edward - now 10 months later - telling me the door is stuck at UPS in Midlands, England, and that he will send another automatic door tomorrow morning.

I'm done with Edward.....

We have had our door opener on our Omlet coop for 2.5 years and have only had a couple of issues which were addressed by the Hentronix team (including a home visit by Edward when the unit fused following a storm). We’ve found the customer care and advice fantastic, in as much as the response time to queries and fixing / replacing a part has been very quick ( those screw fixings are very small and easily lost when changing the battery 😂). We have the solar panel set up and have charged the battery a couple of times due to poor light in our garden during winter, which has worked well for us for the rest of the year.
It’s a great advantage to be able to tweak opening and closing times from the other side of the country when on holidays and one of girls wants to stay out late!

Completely unreliable piece of kit where the owner Edward expects you to buy more bits of substandard electronics to fix the issue…No thank you I’m not giving more £££ to this company.

It stops working randomly and then completely breaks. And then Customer service and after care is very poor.

Left my hens locked out on multiple occasions! It is simply not worth the money at all and definitely needs more testing and development . You only need to read all of the the online reviews to see the common issues and lack of customer satisfaction.

Piece of sh$t! Has never worked. Customer service is just as sh$tty as the product! Have emailed, and emailed, and emailed. And called and called and called and these losers never answer the phone. Total and complete waste of money from these scam artists!

A note of thanks to Edward at Hentronix and the developers of the app. A few weeks ago the app on my phone suddenly crashed and wouldn't work no matter what I tried. I got in touch with Edward at Hentronix who was as baffled as I was but some time later, he reverted. Whatever the issue was, it happened after Google Play automatically installed an update. Apparently it was brought about by
a requirement from Google play. Edward stayed in touch, kept me abreast of the situation. It turned out to be harder to fix than first though especially since it only effected certain types of Android phones (meanwhile I could still use the app using a tablet or an older phone). To cut a long story short, I have now re-installed the app and all is ok. Thank you everyone at Hentronix.

Looks like I made a good choice not to upgrade to the Wifi board just yet....however, I felt as a longstanding Hentronix user, that I had to add my views in their defence. We have had the standard coop door closer for around 5 years and in that time it has been a real boon, enabling us to not worry about the chickens in the early morning and late evening...just ensuring they are fed and watered each day.
Yes there have been glitches and early on we had a to-ing and fro-ing, needing Edwards advice on how to ensure that the door moved freely and getting the closing reliable, (eg: make sure the spring does not get compressed and there is nothing preventing the door from moving or catching) but now we have the system well established, apart from charging or replacing the battery once every 18 months or so, it has been working beautifully. There are lots of new and relatively inexpensive systems on the market now...but read their reviews too. Many start off well but don't last. The original Hentronix kit is pretty robust and I personally have found their customer support to be very responsive. I guess if you started with the promise of the wifi system and app and all the wonderful things that is supposed to do, then it is understandable to be disappointed if that doesn't work. The old system however is extensively tried and tested.

We should have read the reviews… a bad bad buy! Worked for a week, though did manage to lock the chicken out twice! Failed to programme to customer’s opening time. It has now given up the ghost, as indeed does their customer service counter.

Be warned, do not touch!

After trying the wifi board upgrade (disaster) which envolved me buying additional wifi boosters to reach the bottom of the garden. It was quite clear the board is not good and has several glitches. We gave up with the HENTRONIX system and purchased a Brinsea chicken safe advanced. It’s battery operated with a simple menu including time and light options. A fraction of the price of the HENTRONIX and does a better job in our opinion. The manufacturer states batteries last 6 months, but It’s been over 7 months and the 4 x aa batteries are still going well. No need for solar or mains!
