Cannot rate this company highly enough. The experience from start to finish has been totally positive. I was at the stage of signing up with a large installer but became increasingly concerned with the lack of detail and poor response from them.  So I looked further afield specifically for an approved Tesla installer which  eventually led me to Heron Electrical.  After reading the positive reviews, I contacted David who patiently and politely answered all my queries. After receiving a detailed and very competitive quote I  placed an order for 13 solar panels with optimisers and a Tesla Powerwall. Sue in the office kept me updated and fully informed throughout the process. Ben carried out the site survey. Ben anticipated the possibility of fitting extra panels which I happily agreed to and on the day it was indeed possible to fit an extra panel so ended up with 14 instead of 13 panels. It was good to meet Ben who gave me an insight into the company. I felt reassured I had made a good choice.  The Powerwall and panels were installed in a day by a friendly and professional team, all neatly turned out. They take obvious pride in their work, cleaning up everywhere afterwards. David set up the Tesla app for me and clearly explained the workings and assured me I could always call if ever the need arises. Sue promptly followed up with the handover paperwork. The system looks great and is running beautifully. Very satisfying to see nothing coming in from the grid and a full battery. I totally recommend this company to anyone looking for solar/battery installation.

Very quick to respond to Solar panel enquiry and attend site to discuss options. Fast answers to email questions and revised pricing which was very competitive and no hard sell.
Scaffolders and electricians attended site on agreed dates and all thoroughly competent, delivering a neat tidy installation without rushing the job and
follow up paperwork delivered promptly.
Overall I consider them a very professional company and easy to deal with. Recommend.

I was very anxious about the expense of solar panels with a view to reducing my energy bills. I was also aware of climate change. From telephoning Heron and Ben coming out to see me, my experience has been rewarding. Ben explained all the process and I felt completely satisfied with his explanations . I received a quote without obligation to proceed. I was surprised how prices have dropped.

Never have I experienced such a great company. From start to finish was outstanding. Even the after sales service is spot on. If you are looking to get any sort of solar solutions for your home, then I’d HIGHLY recommend Heron for it.

The company were great, with Ben coming out to survey our property and suggesting ideas for what we needed, the communication was excellent, and the install was first class, the panel fitter and the electricians were very helpful in showing us how to use the apps necessary to use the equipment, the office manager Sue had great communication with us, sending over the invoices and all other information we needed to have, would highly recommend them to anyone looking for solar panels

I can't recommend Heron electical for Solar installation enough. They turned up when they said they would and put on a system that suited me, not one that was the easiest (other companies didn't want to know)

There were a couple of small issues getting the system fully working, but Heron stayed in contact, told me what they were trying to do and sorted it.

We have recently had solar panels fitted by Heron Electrical and can not fault them for the service provided. From contacting them at the outset they have provided us with a detailed breakdown of what was involved, how the system worked, along with the costs v payback benefits. We are already seeing the benefits and savings and it hasn’t even been two weeks!
The company and all its staff have provided a professional, efficient and quick service.
The panels were fitted in less than a day and throughout the process we were kept up to date on what was happening. Afterwards we were shown how the system worked along with the phone app. The fitters were professional and courteous and ensured there was no mess and everything was okay before they left.

We would like to thank David, Rachel, Joe, Ben, and the rest of the team at Heron Electrical for their professionalism, work ethic, very high-quality standards, and diligent focus on ensuring the best possible customer experience. Heron Electrical are a pleasure to do business with. On March 23rd 2023, they installed our 6.4kW (16 panel) solar PV system, with 5kW hybrid inverter, and 3.2kWh battery.

Here is why we recommend Heron Electrical so highly:

- Initially, we asked for a quotation for a solar PV system. David visited us to assess the type of system required and the work involved. He explained the various aspects of the system, along with the trade-offs in upfront costs versus payback. He took care to understand our energy usage and requirements, before sending us two initial quotes for different sized systems.

- Over the next two weeks, we did our own background research and looked into the pros and cons of different numbers of solar panels (10 to 16), different sized inverters (3.6kWh or 5kWh, requiring G98 or G99 approval), and different battery capacities (3.2kWh or 6.4kWh). David provided us with a number of further quotes and modelling that helped us to make a well-informed choice of the system that would best suit our needs. (It was one of David’s initial recommendations).

- On Thursday 2nd March, we gave Heron Electrical the go-ahead. Ben immediately applied for G99 approval from Northern Power Grid, using a new fast-track system. This cut the waiting time for G99 approval to under 2 weeks, from the typical 6 weeks plus. On Tuesday 14th March, we received notification from Northern Power Grid that the generation equipment connection was approved. No charge was made for this approval, which was a bonus for us, since such approvals can often cost £650.

- Heron Electrical were then able to give us an installation date of Thursday 23rd March, and arranged for the necessary scaffolding to be put in place the day before.

- On the day, the installation team arrived on time, were very courteous, and progressed the work in a careful, methodical, and diligent way, making sure that everything was just right. Joe, the electrician, asked us exactly where we wanted the inverter and battery installed and took care to leave a suitable space for a second battery, should one be needed at a later date. The cabling from the solar panels on the roof was neatly routed down through the loft space, into the integral garage where the inverter was sited.

- The solar panels were in place just after lunch, and the full system hooked up and working by late afternoon. Joe then took us through connecting the phone app needed to monitor system operation, as well as briefing us on the shut-down and start-up procedures.

- On Monday 27th March, we received the MCS Certificate enabling us to register with Octopus Energy to export surplus electrical power back to the grid.

- Finally, we asked Heron Electrical to replace our old consumer unit (fuse box). This was done on Tues 28th March. We thought this would be a simple like-for-like replacement, but instead Joe found 8 circuits wired into 5 fuses. These were separated out, and careful checks made that all appropriate earth connections were in place, and all the circuits had been properly accounted for.

Our solar PV installation has now been up and running for well over a month, during that time we have had everything from clear and sunny days with little cloud to complete cloud cover the entire day. The solar generation system is just perfect for our needs, it covers our normal daily usage plus washing, tumble drying, and dish washer, even on a fairly cloudy day in March (10kWh output), and exports a massive amount of energy back to the grid on perfect sunny days (40+kWh output). We have found the 3.2kWh battery neatly fits our needs. (On the Octopus Flux tariff, we charge the battery overnight, and then receive a high rate per kWh for export of all excess power from our Solar PV system, particularly during the peak period of 4pm to 7pm).

Overall, Heron Electrical are a great example of a 5-star company, a local owner run business that rightly has an excellent reputation for both the work that it carries out and the quality of its customer service and communication. We have no hesitation in recommending Heron Electrical to friends and family and will no doubt use them again should we require any further electrical work.

David, Ben Rachael and the team were excellent from start to finish. David and Ben called at the house to carry out a survey and to provide us with a guide price for our installation.
Rachael then provide us with a complete quote and was happy to answer any questions we had about the installation. We end up deciding on 10 x 400w panels, a 3.6Kw inverter and 2 x 3.2Kwh batteries. The installation was completed and up and running within the day. The installation team were polite, hard working and made sure that they cleaned up after themselves before they left.

We are extremely pleased with the installation, the way the panels look, and how they perform. All the installation team were thoughtful and took their time to sort every possible detail / position of each item and routing of all cabling appears neat and secure. Highly recommended.

We are delighted with our solar PV and battery install undertaken by Heron. Ben reviewed our requirements and sought to maximise the potential solar generation at our home; Heron designed, explained and quoted really clearly their proposals. Heron’s team came and fitted everything as required and their installation was completed in one day! We had 22 panels fitted with three 3.2 kwh batteries. The system was live the next day working perfectly and the guys set us up and walked us through their monitoring app so we can keep on eye on the energy we are creating and the best time to plug in the car or put the washer on!

Dave explained the solar panel principles to us and was able to fit the solar panels at the agreed time which was quite challenging at the time. I feel we have had value for money and the after service was first class. I would recommend using this company to anyone.
