I bought a sewing machine from Hobbycraft which within a couple weeks had started showing signs that the whole needle alignment was completely off. Of course I was disappointed but got in contact and... See more

I visit Hobbycraft Kingsway Derby quite…
I visit Hobbycraft Kingsway Derby quite frequently. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. I visited the store recently and Sophie went above and beyond to help me. She offered some good advice and explained my best options through demonstration. She made my shopping experience very pleasant by her grace, patience and overall lovely demeanor. Thank you.
Good value for money 👍
Great service!
Visited the Selly Oak branch, in Birmingham.
Bought four A3 frames, for prints I have. Couldn’t decide on whether to have black of silver frames. Not a life changing decision but I’m hopeless deciding anything! A store assistant came to my rescue, when I asked her advice, after showing one of the prints on my phone. She gave her honest opinion and that swung me towards the black frames.
I didn’t see her name unfortunately, but if you’re listening Hobbycraft, Selly Oak, she deserves a bonus! I’ve framed the prints I have and she was proved correct in her recommendation, they look fabulous! Thank you. Great service and with a smile. Ever more rare these days I feel.
Amazing Customer Service by Amanda
I ordered several items for Christmas 2025 . . however, I was not able to get along to the store to collect them in time - and duly expected to receive an automatic refund - after the 'collection period' had elapsed.
This did not happen presently, so I contacted the Hobbycraft Customer Services Department and spoke to Amanda - explaining the situation . . .
Amanda was exemplary throughout - even though obviously extremely busy.
She handled the situation with professionalism, good humour & efficiency.
It has been a pleasure dealing with Hobbycraft because of Amanda . . a real asset to the business.
Thank you.
Bad returns experience
I BOUGHT WOOL ON 22 JANUARY TO MAKE A CARDIGAN FOR AN ADULT AND HAD 1 BALL LEFT OVER WHEN ITEM WAS FINISHED I TRIED TO RETURN ON 21ST MARCH FOR A REFUND WITH THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT WAS TOLD THERE IS A 30 DAY REFUND POLICY I MENTIONED TO THE GENTLEMAN IT CAN TAKE A WHILE LONGER TO FINISH AN ADULT KNITTED GARMENT THAN 30 DAYS TO KNOW YOUVE GOT WOOL OVER BUT HE QUITE RUDELY REPEATED THE POLICY , I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH HIS ADDITUDE AND THINK HE COULD HAVE OFFERED AN EXCHANGE AS I HAD THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT
Top store for affordable, good quality and variety of products
I started using Hobbycraft Salisbury in February and have bought a huge amount of products from there and via click and collect, visiting the store at least twice a week. Each time I have been greeted by happy and friendly staff, offering help and advice when needed - and helped to the car with large boxes of goodies! Highly recommend their products for quality at really good and affordable prices, highly recommend this store for the lovely staff - including Vicky, Holly, Josh, Rachel
Manager was a super star
My original online order was picked incorrectly but the staff, particularly the store Manager were very helpful in rectifying the situation. Excellent service
Asbestos in children’s craft kit
I purchased a children’s craft kit from Hobbycraft which was later recalled after asbestos contamination was identified in the sand.
What makes this worse is that this issue was not identified by Hobbycraft themselves — it was first discovered by a parent who paid for independent lab testing after recognising similarities with recalled products overseas (Guardian article available online).
By the time the recall was issued, the sand had already been used in our home and garden. As a result, we had to dispose of a sandpit and toys and carry out extensive cleaning as a precaution.
Hobbycraft refunded the £6 product cost — but refused to cover any of the resulting losses (over £150), despite these being a direct consequence of supplying a contaminated product.
The handling has been extremely poor:
• repeated template responses
• refusal to address financial losses
• refusal to provide insurer details
• complaints process closed without resolution
Instead of taking responsibility, the company has relied on generic statements about regulators while ignoring the real impact on customers.
This was a serious product safety issue that appears to have been raised externally before action was taken, and the follow-up customer service has been equally disappointing.
I would not expect this level of response from a national retailer
I bought a model kit and a roll of tape…
I bought a model kit and a roll of tape from Hobbycraft online. I received an email saying I could pick it up. When I went to the Hobbycraft Bolton store, I was surprised to find that the item I ordered was out of stock. The store wanted to substitute another model kit. Why weren't they notified me beforehand that the model I ordered was out of stock? It was a waste of my time and a wasted trip!

I visit this store for my favourite…
I visit this store for my favourite hobby art painting, it excites me to the bone knowing I have to go to hobbycraft, the range of art supplies is just unique, for me personally if I need a certain paint colour today, I would pop down there and get rather than order online 😊
Awful experience misleading information
Awful experience niece ordered online to collect in store which says collect from 1hr all items were in stock in chosen store as we checked but there was a online code which meant 9 year old niece could get more for her pocket money and treat her mum for mothers day, went to store several hours later for order to not be ready shop wouldnt pick the order when we arrived and would not let us pick the items ourselves even though they were paid for. Niece was so upset as was gifts and crafts for mothers day please remove 1hr time from online if you cant fulfill it that makes it sound like you can go same day yet person in shop said it could be tomorrow. Misleading advertisment quick enough to take money but not provide products. Will be taking her else were to spend her pocket money in future.

Why shopping online is preferable
Today I had a horrible shopping experience at Hobbycraft, Stanway, Colchester. It all started when I was looking at acrylic paint and there wasn’t a price visible for the Daley Rowney Graduate Acrylic tubes. Fortunately, there was a member of staff in the same aisle a few feet away from me putting things on a shelf. I said, showing her the item - ‘excuse me, sorry to interrupt you but do you know the price of this?’ She said ‘the price is up there’ and walked over to the display. There was no price and I said ‘if the price was there, I wouldn’t have asked you.’ She said in quite an abrupt manner – well, I didn’t know the price wasn’t there. She walked off without saying anything else and returned a few minutes later whereby she scanned the item and told me the price. I said thank you and she walked off. I later discovered that she is the manageress. I carried on shopping and when I got to the till, in addition to the items in my basket, I had 3 bolts of fabric and had to ask for assistance to reach a fourth on the shelf – which I received. Initially, I asked for a metre off one bolt, but before it was cut, I asked for it to be half a metre. The staff member who was assisting the young man on the till, was about to cut the fabric when I noticed that she was going to cut it through the width and I queried this – a discussion ensued between her, the young man (who told me that I didn’t have to buy it) and myself about how to cut fabric from a bolt and they called the manageress - whom I had already encountered. She agreed with them and I was trying to explain that when you buy fabric if it 100cm wide you are buying a metre or half a metre by 100cm. You don’t cut a metre up the middle of the width. But I was told that this is how they always do it and I could see that they were getting annoyed with me, so I told them just do what you want. Anyway, I got my four bolts of fabric cut (by the manageress) and the young man continued to ring up my items. Once paid for and I had my receipt, I decided to check the total as I had seen as I walked in the door and at the till that if you spent £40 you got £10 off. Sure enough, the ten pounds had not been deducted. I asked the young man about this and was told that it had to be requested! Are you kidding me! Didn’t say that on the signs! I asked if it could be refunded to my card and he had to call the manageress again for help. Turns out a refund could not be issued – the whole transaction had to be voided and the whole lot put through the till again! While I was shopping, I knew that I was spending quite a lot and it did occur to me to split my shopping and get the discount twice, but I didn’t do that. I packed my shopping into my own bag the first-time round, but the second time the member of staff (young man) did it and just chucked things in the bag with no care at all. I knew that he and the manageress were annoyed – as was I, so when the final total was reached, which was only £6.00 less than the original total, I couldn’t be bothered to question it. The first total was £86.40 and the second total was £80.40
During all of this the tone of these members of staff was unfriendly, somewhat rude and it seemed that they did not enjoy their jobs nor care about the image of the company. Granted no-one wants an awkward customer (and I have worked in retail) but I don’t think I was being overly difficult.
The moral of the story is shop online where you don’t have to deal with unpleasant, poorly trained staff and also, you are unlikely to impulse buy which I did to the tune of about £30.00.

Gift voucher purchase
I visited the Hobbycraft store in Exeter to purchase a gift voucher. The lady who served me was bright and cheerful, and very helpful in answering my questions about the voucher.

False advertising bundles despite stock
Attempted to order a Cricut Maker 4 with free hot iron. Despite having both in stock the ‘bundle’ was unavailable. Attempted to use the help chat but they said only so many allowed. Tough. I was going to spend nearly £1000 on this. I won’t be now. Not at Hobby Craft anyway. If there is stock and you advertise a bundle you should honour this, or it is false advertising
A very good cake decorating section too
I was pleasantly surprised visiting our local store for the first time in years. This is apart from the fact it's a well stocked store with a really comprehensive range of fabrics, paper crafts, et cetera. What surprised me is how good their cake decorating section was. They had so many different kinds of icing, fondant, decorations, a really thorough selection.
Absolutely love this shop
Absolutely love this shop! Everything is brilliant that i got from here
Love hobby craft very good fast service…
Love hobby craft very good fast service Solihull and merry hill shops excellent
Good quality card BUT
Just bought some craft card - excellent quality and reasonably priced. Only fault was that it came in “book” form and I had to slice the top off each page because it was sticky 7/3/26
