Disappointing Return Policy
I recently purchased a Cricut EasyPress 3 from the Hobbycraft store in Crewe. Unfortunately, the product did not meet my needs, so I contacted them to return it shortly after purchase.
To my surprise, I was told that because the box had been opened, they could not accept the return unless the item was faulty. This was very disappointing. As a customer, it’s impossible to know whether a product will meet your needs without opening the box and trying it.
In my experience, most retailers understand this and offer a more customer-friendly return policy. This was the first time I’ve encountered such a rigid approach.
I was expecting better customer service from a well-known retailer like Hobbycraft. Unfortunately, this experience has made me hesitant to shop there again.
Ridiculous
My order got lost and I had to ask for a refund. I won't be ordering anything on line from Hobby Craft again.
UPDATE!! I received a very cheeky email from them saying that the Glasgow store claims that I had picked the item up and that they will be forced to check the cctv footage to prove their point.
You carry on checking your cctv hobby craft!!! All you'll see is me walking into your store picking up 2 packets of pens and walking over to the cash desk where i stand and complain to the staff member of the terrible service I had on your online shop. Please bare in mind that I had already received a refund from you and the order states that the pens in question had been returned and I have screenshots of the "help" chat apologising for the delay, blaming the courier.
Still waiting for an apology!!!
Still waiting!!! 16/03/2026

I bought 2 Faber-Castell 9000 pencils…
I bought 2 Faber-Castell 9000 pencils from Hobbycraft Truro. There was no price visible on the stand and it seems that I was charged £2.80 per pencil.
I checked this price when I got home because it seemed extortionate. The price with comparable suppliers was £1.60. When I double checked with Hobbycraft that I had been charged the correct price I was told , ‘I don’t know what to say . Different suppliers charge different prices , but you can have a refund.”
So if I want to drive 46 miles I can get a refund. I won’t do that , but what I will do is avoid Hobbycraft in future. I have always known that Hobbycraft is ridiculously expensive but I think that a difference of £1.20 per pencil is beyond paying for the convenience of being able to just walk in and buy something.

Unable to order.
I tried to order materials from Hobbycraft this evening but was unable to progress past the mandatory requirement for a mobile phone number - I do not have a mobile phone. I then tried to submit a complaint, using the advertised link buttons for both Email and Contact Form - neither worked. Consequently - One Star.

Ordered 2 drawing books on click and collect , no issues on collection good quality 👌
I ordered a craft desk from hobbycraft…
I ordered a craft desk from hobbycraft at the beginning of January this year. I was missing a side tray support, so I emailed them. I have now been going back and forth via email trying to get the part sent to me,it tool over a month to be told it comes from a supplier that supplied the desk so can we give them ur name and address to send you the part? Now all I've had is we are waiting to hear from our purchasing team. Over the last year I've spent £100s with this company trying to get my candle making off the ground and wanted the desk for my diamond painting. I feel like they can't be bothered to sort this for me and they are hoping if they leave it long enough I will just give up, there's not even been a good will gesture off some money off for the missing part and time wasted waiting for them to reply to me. I think they no longer care how much their customers spend with them.i have now deleted the app from my phone and will be going elsewhere for my art supplies.

Went to the Bath hobbycraft and there was a very kind young woman named Jess who suggested a modelling clay that would make my crochet hook easier to hold as I have rheumatoid arthritis. She took time to explain different things that I could do that would make things easier. Five stars experience. 💕

Will use again
Great website and choice of products. I found all I needed. Very quick delivery and really like the size of the can with paint. I need only a small amount and it's good, as I will use it once and no leftovers, no waste.
Customer service is terrible
Customer service is terrible. Storage tower sent without wheels. When I raised the concern I was told they were. In a different parcel which made no sense. They never arrived. I raised it again to be told wheels have been sent. They never arrived. I chased and was told it could be 2 weeks…for delivery within the UK. When I pushed I was told it would arrive by Friday. 3 weeks later and not arrived. I asked for evidence of it being sent. Not provided. I’m told the tower can be picked up and then a new one sent. But collection hours are all day as if I have nothing to do but wait around. I bought as I thought Hobbycraft was a British company. I get mistakes happen but good companies deal with them. All I’ve had is the run around, empty promises, platitudes and no real effort to resolve in a way that reflects it was a HC. error.
UPDATE FOLLOWING HC REPLY:
SEEMS LIJE MORE PLATITUDES GIVEN IVE PROVIDED THIS TO MULTIPLE AGENTS. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS SBOUT ACTUALLY ADDRESSING THE ISSUE THE ORDER NUMBER IS W27485751

Returned order as no longer needed…Refund NOT issued
Returned order as no longer needed using the return label Hobbycraft provided me to a DPD YEEP locker as per the instructions. I then contacted Hobbycraft to ask when I would be receiving my refund to be told they had not received my return and will not issue a refund until they receive the item, I’ve been told the item has not been collected by DPD and must be still in the locker, they have offered no help for me to either get the parcel out of the locker to post it another way, or ask DPD to look into this missing parcel. This is absolutely disgusting when a customer follows the companies procedure but then they decide it’s not for them to help with the issues when their system fails
I will never understand the other high reviews.
I will never understand the level of positive reviews as never had a good experience in this store or online and yet keep giving them another go in spite of that becuase they are one of the few haberdashery shops left on the high street. Not one single experience, many of items not being in stock with no indication of when they will be (especially when on sale but the moment not on sale miraculously back in stock), click and collect communication being terrible, parking for my local store is awful and expensive, staff unhelpful and offhand when asking for help locating something., and dont even get me started on the online customer service. I don't know how they continue to exist.
Faulty Sewing Machine
I bought a sewing machine from Hobbycraft which within a couple weeks had started showing signs that the whole needle alignment was completely off.
Of course I was disappointed but got in contact and they agreed it was most definitely faulty and I was able to get my money back and buy a different machine. Customer service was brilliant, can't fault it it's just a shame their own brand machines aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Really dissapointed with the recent…
Really dissapointed with the recent asbestos issues and after writing to customer services feel even less reassured. You don't expect these types of issues from a UK company and I don't feel everything was done to recall the affected products quickly enough to prevent further usage.
I am new member of Hobbycraft
I am new member of Hobbycraft, and each time I have visited I have great advice from Nicky.
The Yeovil Hobbycraft branch is a large shop with all you could possibly need for craft and art work.
I would highly recommend it.
Closure of Stafford Store
I just wanted to say that the Hobbycraft store in Stafford is very much missed since it closed- my craftwork has not been the same without this fantastic store - it is not convenient to travel so far to other stores and online shopping is not the same / you need to be in a store to get ideas and advice from staff. I hope perhaps another Hobbycraft Stafford store will be opened even if it is on a smaller scale.
