Holiday-Velvet 

I had a good experience with Holiday-Velvet renting an apartment in Venice several years ago and then another in New York City. However when i tried to use them again for an apartment in Florence in October 2012, my emails went unanswered and my requests for assistance were ignored.

We took the family to Costa Rica for the first time and booked through Holiday Velvet. My brother recommended Holiday Velvet to me and they were the perfect choice. It was so easy and quick to find a place large enough for the 7 of us. The correspondence with both Holiday Velvet and the property owner was easy and we had a fantastic time. Will definitely use them again.

I booked what appeared to be a comfortable apartment for two couples in Paris. At the last minute Holiday-Velvet told me that it was water damaged and offered me an alternative that I had already rejected but It was too late to change so I accepted it. As I feared the apartment was ugly and far too small for two couples. It was also full of junk from previous tenants including some food that had seen better days and some old clothes.

We were no more than ten minutes late arriving at the apartment but we were charged the 50 Euro penalty. That may have been tolerable but our agent topped that off by recommending the worst restaurant in Paris for our dinner.

The apartment did have a balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower and, anyway, it is in Paris so of course we had an enjoyable time.

Perfect location, zero hassle. Within 5 minutes walk from the Red Light district. The apartment could fit 7 people without problem, so very cheap if there's many of you. Very clean and comfy. Enjoy!

we stayed in Heliconia Villa on koh samui . It is a lot of money, but we had a great stay with the family. The villa was as we expected and looked like the pictures. When we arrived the airconditioning was not working, but after calling James from holiday velvet this was fixed quickly. We would book with holiday velvet again, they were really kind and helpful.

We had a great unit in Vancouver it was exactly as in the picture and so close
to all amenities, Great value, position, views a wonderful package. We could

I booked my family's accommodation for our trip to Europe through Holiday Velvet. The booking process was easy and the responses were prompt. We had apartments in Paris, Venice, Florence and Rome. We contacted the local rep on arrival at each destination, and they were friendly, punctual and gave us helpful information on their city. The apartments were perfect, they matched the photo and description provided. My family are planning our return to Europe in 12 months and I will definitely book everything through Holiday Velvet again.

My family of 4 (two teenage daughters, my husband and I) stayed for 4 nights in August 2011 I agree with other reviewers that this apartment has a wonderful location. Just off Campo Sant’Angelo, you are within easy walking distance of the major sites. It was great to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and enjoy some morning quiet in Piazza San Marco before the hordes of tourists came in. Likewise, we were able to enjoy several night-time strolls through Piazza San Marco.
The apartment is large (around 100 sq m) and has been very nicely renovated, with tiled bathrooms. It is spacious and is in a quiet location. It was nice having a washing machine but there was no drying rack. The tub/shower in the second bathroom has no curtain or shower enclosure.
Be forewarned, the air conditioner is only located in the twin bedroom and it doesn't work very well cooling down the entire apartment (we tried, back in 2011 the apt was misrepresented as having air conditioning in the entire apt). The only shutters for the twin bedroom were outside the window. Since we didn't want to damage the window screen we called Holiday Velvet for instructions on how to close them. Our calls went unanswered.
Although there are several small grocery stores near Campo Sant’Angelo, we trekked back to Piazza Roma to get a larger selection and better prices for our supplies at the Coop supermarket which is very close to the vaporetto stop.
After I had booked the apartment, I was surprised to learn that check-in was at the Above Tide office (this is not mentioned in the Holiday Velvet website back in 2011). Above Tide (the Italian company that manages and rents out the property) is located below Piazzalle Roma - which is nowhere near the apartment. The Above Tide location is very convenient from the bus stop (you have to cross two bridges), and close to the railway station (you have to cross one large bridge). It is not convenient from the Alilaguna boat stop so don't use that mode of transportation. Similarly, the keys had to be dropped back at Above Tide when we left, which was also a major inconvenience (we stayed in 7 properties during this vacation and this was the only one with this requirement). This may have changed.

We booked and stayed in the apartment "Neuwmarkt 2BR" in Amsterdam in October 2011. Everything was great. Very easy to book and the place was exactly as we saw it in the photos. Great holidays. Thank you.

I have planned two holidays, with James from Holiday Velvet. I value his opinion, which is based on real experience. He is extraordinarily patient. The process is seamless--providing you with all the information you need to make a great decision. On the rare occasion when I've encountered difficulties, they were resolved very quickly. The apartment where I stayed in Venice was wonderful. We're all very much looking forward to staying in Rome. Thanks so much, James!

We were my wife,sister-in-law and me around 10 days in NYC and the expierence was totally satisfactory. It was like to be at home but in NYC. So comfortable. Relly good, and also we recommended holiday-velvet to our friends.

Property advertised as apartment, once there was a sort of B&B, no staff ever there, breakfast served too late and no mention of the huge concrete staircase to get to the lift entrance. On checking out had to call taxi myself as again no staff to do check out, rcvd text at 1030 to advise he was running late! Will not be using again.

everything was great except when we had to pick the key up...it was a terrible experience...difficult and complicated system.....

The Apartment we looked at online, and then booked, was not the same as the one we eventually moved into. But the new Apartment could not have been better, clean, well equipped and so very convenient for transport links, Restaurants and Tourist Sites.

We went to New York for a week and booked through Holiday Velvet. The accommodation was modest, but exactly what we expected. The treatment by the Holiday Velvet people was superb, and we would happily book through them again

The apartment was accurately described. Communication with James was excellent. However, paying was difficult as HV did not accept NZ credit cards resulting in numerous phonecalls and bank drafts etc. Again we were not expecting to have to pay the agent her commission in advance before we left NZ. (Hopefully this was remedied.)The web site is excellent though could be significantly faster!

Last year we booked a flat in Berlin. When we arrived at the airport, we called the furnished number, but there was no answer. Kept trying for two hours, still nothing. Took a taxi to the flat - no one was there. Called the emergency number - no answer, The taxi driver helped us find another place. Avoid Holiday Velvet like the plague.

The management of this origanization was spotty, cagey, unclear and difficult. The person who was supposed to let us into our apartment was not available when she was supposed to meet with us, kept telling us that she was busy giving a tour, and showed up half an hour late while we waited with our bag;s in St. Mark's sq. They would not give us the address prior to arrival and were ot accommodating in anyway. The place was underwhelming, though thankfully clean, but the hallway was DISGUSTING! DO NOT USE HOLIDAY VELVET. REALLY!!

As Australian residents travelling a long distance to New York city, we were naturally concerned about ensuring our NYC accommodation would be clean and comfortable to meet our needs. Holiday-Velvet delivered perfectly with a wonderful apartment for our NYC stay, and our dealings with Holiday-Velvet through the booking stages went very well.
I have no hesitation in recommending Holiday-Velvet as a very professional organisation that provided great service and an apartment that was indeed very comfortable. My family and I had a terrific time in NYC and hope to return again.

the apartment we stayed in in SF was amazing, I felt like we were in a place you see in the movies the area was beautiful, everyone had their Christmas decorations out and the outlook was spectacular.
I found Holiday Velvet to be very reliable the pictures of the apartment we stayed in were representative, perhaps not actually as lovely as what our accomodation was
