Bought hotel in York using a voucher…

Bought hotel in York using a voucher for my in laws Xmas present. They turned up today to be told there was no booking in their name despite me having confirmation email. Upon further investigation hotel voucher shop cancelled the booking a couple of days ago meaning they had to pay to stay at the hotel despite me already paying on the original booking. This seems to be happening to everyone who’s reviewing on here. Tried phoning and emailing and no reply. Avoid this sh”*house company at all costs!!!

We have 2 vouchers to use one that ran out on 9/4/19 Could not get the site to offer any hotels all searches I did came up with nothing tried time after time now voucher has expired. Don't answer messages or emails .it is a disgrace that this company is still allowed to carry on trading they must be making a mint surly there must be something that can be done as No one seems to be able to book and when they do reservations seem to get cancelled, not sure I want to risk using the second voucher.

Please read reviews before purchasing…

Please read reviews before purchasing these vouchers - we were given a £200 voucher which we cannot use. We have tried and did manage eventually to book a hotel which Hotel Voucher Shop confirmed but we received an e-mail several days later informing us the supplier did not confirm the booking. When we checked with the hotel (Hilton Treetops Aberdeen) they informed us that Hilton do not associate themselves with Hotel Voucher Shop (or any other names connected with them). The hotel did however have vacancies for our dates We now cannot access the website to re-book any hotel as the website is not working. The voucher expires in June and we cannot book anything - Hotel Voucher Shop have not replied to our e-mails.

Scam

A voucher was purchased for us by family and we tried to use it on Wednesday. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told our booking had been cancelled on the Sunday. We had not cancelled. We had also added money by credit card to include dinner at the hotel. We tried to call but there was no possibility to get through to anyone. Only to leave messages. I have left several, and also emailed them and filled in their contact form. No one has called back. I doubt anyone is even there at all. We were lucky, the hotel were great and they had another room which we paid for. But I see others have not been so fortunate. This appears just to be a dreadful scam, causing people to lose precious time away. Next stop Trading Standards!!

This is a complete rip off!

We were given a £150 voucher as a gift for our wedding last September and after a great deal of hassle booking a hotel, price kept on going up each time I visited the Hotel Voucher Website, we finally managed to book a night at Peebles Hydro for £152.76 B&B. I checked the booking with the hotel the following day and they confirmed that it had been booked through Travel Republic!!! Checking on the Travel Republic website for the same night stay, I could have booked it for £118. When we checked out, we were given the bill for food and drinks and on it was the amount that was actually paid through Travel Republic for our night, £98.28!!!! Need I say more!!!!

Impossible to use these vouchers

We bought these vouchers as a gift for a family member, but four months later, after numerous attempts, they still have been unable to use the vouchers. They have had hotels saying there is no record of their booking or cancelling their booking at short notice because the hotel has given the allocated room to another guest and then asks for more money in order to book another room at the same hotel. So much time has been wasted trying to use these vouchers - avoid at all costs!!

Do not use this company

Do not use this company under any circumstances.
We arrived at the hotel to find out from the hotel staff that HotelVoucherShop had cancelled our booking the previous day, with no contact or explanation. I wasted an afternoon on the phone trying to get in touch with HotelVoucherShop but couldn’t get any response by email or phone, just an answering machine telling me their opening hours... which was clearly a lie, and a prompt to leave a message, which was again a lie as their answer machine was full and couldn’t take a message.
Our only option was to turn around and head home.

They take your money, don't provide the service as promised and ignore your emails

Received a voucher worth £200 as we are a corporate customer and haven't been able to book anything in 3 weeks! Their customer service team is a myth (genuinely not convinced there is one). I have contacted them many times with no response at all.
Makes a great gift for your worst enemy. If you would like to purchase a voucher I recommend an equivalent I always use called GlobalHotelCard. Use them instead - I've never had any problems with them. The best part is they actually do what it says on the box!

DO NOT USE

I've never experienced anything as poor as this. We are just returning home after attempting to check into the hotel that this company confirmed as booked! The hotel said that HVS had cancelled the booking (we did not request this) and they were fully booked, and we could not afford to find another place. Attempts to contact the customer service during their "office hours" were not answered.
Do not give these vouchers as a gift to anyone.

Shambles of a company

Shambles of a company, website and reviews always good for purchasing vouchers, completely different story when comes to redeem. Does the website ever work? No options when redeem down to ‘maintenance ‘ work which is most of the time, and when not prices hugely inflated, would not touch

Worst Experience ever.

On 07/02/2019 I ordered 2 vouchers from you (£25 and £50)
On 08/02/2019 I emailed your support to ask if the vouchers were refundable. To which I was told they were not.
On 12/02/2019 I received my vouchers.
On 27/02/2019 I used my vouchers to make a booking at a hotel. I also paid an extra £45 on top as the vouchers did not cover the full amount. This £45 was taken from my bank on this day from HOTEL STAY UK LEISURE.

On 06/04/2019 I arrived at Doubletree by Hilton Ealing to find that my booking was not on their system. They advised they had received a cancellation from HOTELBEDS UK LTD on 04/04/2019. I can confirm that I had not requested this.

I was then told I would have start a new booking with the hotel direct and that I would be charged for it. As you can imagine the rate for the room was far more expensive than what I had paid.

As a result of paying for the hotel on the day this had caused many of my Direct Debits to have been returned due to funds no longer being available.

To this day I have never received a cancellation email, or a refund for the £120 I paid for the hotel (£25 + £50 Voucher and £45 Debit Card)

Please see below further charges incurred following the issue above.

£160 Room
£60 Missed Direct Debit
£20 Missed Direct Debit Fee

Cancelled Booking

Booked a 1 night stay at a Doubletree by Hilton in Lincoln on the 29th October 18 paying an extra £35 to top up the amount. When we arrived at the hotel on Saturday 6th April 19, the hotel could see our reservation but it had been cancelled by hotel voucher shop on the 29th March 19. So we were left stood embarrassed in the lobby with no hotel booking on a busy Saturday night. We tried calling the number given only to hear a recoded message to say that the office was only open Monday to Friday and closed all weekend.

The hotel receptionist was really apologetic (although no fault was attributed to them) and advised that they where full but did offer to 'ring around' and try to find us a room at another hotel. We declined and decided to head home as the experience had soured what was a birthday weekend away.

Got a £250 voucher for Christmas

Got a £250 voucher for Christmas. Booked a 2 night stay at a Hilton in Edinburgh on the 2nd of January paying an extra £30 to top up the amount. When we arrived at the hotel on Friday 5th April, the hotel could see our reservation but it had been cancelled by hotel voucher shop on the 1st of April. So we were left stood embarrassed in the lobby with no hotel booking on a busy Friday night. After an hour of speaking to the people who’s numbers were on the booking email, we were no closer as the hotel voucher shop are closed all weekend.

Our only option was to pay for a room ourselves, there were no deluxe rooms available and the price had increased for last minute bookings. So we ended up paying £270 for a standard room for 2 nights. The hotel voucher shop will be getting a phone call today to try sort all of this out.

But please avoid at all costs. The experience from terrible booking website to arriving and having a cancelled reservation, coupled with zero weekend customer service...

Book direct or via another company!!!

Useless

Useless, avoid at all costs. Options are limited, most prices are vastly inflated and when you do find a hotel that you like the booking does not complete.

There is zero customer service, it is impossible to speak to an individual as they have no phones?!!

Presumably for that reason they can’t communicate with the hotels either.

Ridiculous and I feel a complete con.
