Bad Business Practices and don't follow consumer law
Hi, was closing on my house and told Hunnintgon that full payoff of HELOC was going to be done on a certian date. The title company sent check pre postmark due date to payoff HELOC with Hunnington need to send in check. Check arrived day or 2 later and they still reported late payment literally next day nad it was fully paid off. Avoid this company they are like robots and don't honor post mark dates like the IRS does example and they were notified 20 days earlier that closing on house was to be done and payoff was coming. They don't care about consumers . Don't give them any of your money.

Very unethical bank
I would never do business with this bank again. We opened a QIT account at Huntington because my dad qualified for Medicaid. A QIT account is required. The account was in my dad's name. He had Alzheimer's, so my mom was put on the account as the trustee. She never had an actual account. My mom wanted to open an account, and Huntington was offering 400.00 to open an account. We were advised my mom would qualify for the 400.00 since she was only the trustee on my dad's QIT account. We have had nothing but problems ever since. We couldn't open an online account at first. It would not let us. We were told we had to wait for the account to be open 30 days before we could get an online account. When we opened the online account, we put in all the information we needed to access the account. Some auto system went in and changed the phone contacts so we could not access the account. The system input a landline, my brother's phone contact, and an incorrect number. Since 2 factor authentication is required, we were unable to access the account. My brother is not often available to give us the codes if we needed them. That took days to fix. Then we set up the account to be able to transfer funds between 2 banks. The test transaction was fine. After that, Huntington Bank decided the other bank wasn't legitimate and locked out the transfers. We have been with the other bank for 40 years. We had to bring proof the bank was legitimate. That took several days. The worst is Huntington has decided we are not going to get the 400.00 we were promised. We were strung along for 4 months, only to be told the QIT account in my dad's name counted as an account for my mom. I was told there were no exceptions. John Wood, who is the manager, should never have promised us money he wasn't authorized to give. We never would have opened this account had we known that. He kept telling us there were ways to make sure we got the 400.00. Other banks are offering the same kinds of incentives, and we would have opened up an account elsewhere. That 400.00 would have been very helpful since my mom is in a low income bracket. My dad passed away in August, so her income is further reduced. I don't know how Huntington Bank can get away with gross misrepresentation like this. If we were promised the money to open an account, Huntington bank should have to honor that promise since their representative gave us the wrong information.
Open account Huntington Bank…
Open account Huntington Bank approximately a month down the road I got a down payment on a job. The check bounced Huntington bank close my account did you read this Huntington bank close my account they they shouldn’t even be allowed to be open for business. If I would’ve read all the reviews before open the account I would’ve never went there. Terrible bank.
After 28 years with huntington…
After 28 years with huntington apparently I'm a problem. They decided to hold a check for 5 days (over a weekend so 7) with no reason. The check was verified by the government that funds were paid, verified by chase the account has been active and funds are available. Why haven't I gotten my money? This isn't the first time a 10k check has hit my account. It is not from some random person but the government. But they refused to release my money, so now I have been without a vehical for over a week. Thankfully a friend let me borrow their car, but Huntington could care less if I lose my job. They just don't want to release my funds.
A Fee to Deposit Cash
They want to charge me to deposit cash into my biz. account. Squeeze every cent out of the customer.
IF YOU ENJOY GETTING SHIT ON HUNTINGTON IS FOR YO!!!
I started as a TCF Bank customer - no problems. After TCF was purchased by Huntington I have had several major issues regarding Huntington blocking access to my funds WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST! Sure, it's OK for them to block A SUSPICIOUS TRANSACTION - that's just common sense - BUT DON'T BLOCK MY ACCESS TO ALL MY FUNDS OVER A QUESTIONABLE and relatively tiny ($50) debit attempt!!!!! My account containing well over $20K was held hostage by these assholes for DAYS over what amounts to pocket change!!!!
I have been making extra principal…
I have been making extra principal payments each month for a few months now. I planned on paying off my loan, but had to wait days for online, direct from bank payments to clear. So, they have returned multiple payments for no reason. The last payment they returned was a 7,000 payment which would have almost paid my loan off, but left about 900 left to send the check in for the final payment. They waited 5 days, returned the funds and then charged me a $25 fee despite the issue always being with their end of things. Then, they decide to allow two payments per month, but turn it into one payment that needs to clear before the final payment can be sent in, and with the amount of time that all takes, they will end up taking an extra payment from my bank account with no information on whether or not that will be refunded or they will just keep it. They need to refund my $25, & if they take a payment on the 24th when they've been informed the check has been sent for the remainder of the loan amount, they need to refund that immediately.

I sit on hold for hours and never get a reasonable explanation for anything they do!!! I have to verify almost every transaction???!!! WTF!!!!
Their Fraud Protection is a FRAUD
Huntington Bank is absolutely terrible. Don't believe what they tell you. They DO NOT protect customers against fraud. I'm out THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS due their "fraud protection"!!!! NEVER AGAIN HUNTINGTON!! Do not use this bank or if you have, MOVE YOUR MONEY NOW!!!
Don't bank at Huntington
If there was a no star rating it would be what I'd rate this so called bank. After two attempts, which I waited 37minutes and then 46 minutes on hold to find out if they received a payoff payment. After saying hello and that I was wondering if they received my payoff check the first girl who never introduced herself and could not speak an intelligent form of the English language hung up. Thought maybe we got disconnected but same thing happened the second time. Her name was "Maria". DO NOT USE THIS SO CALLED BANK. Look around somewhere else. I will be going to warn my brothers and sisters in the military on our VA website where we note
businesses to be leery of. You have to be pretty hard up to use Huntington Bank

Urgent Complaint – Account Hold & Lack of Access (Case #02057535)
To Whom It May Concern,
My account (ending in 0114) has been on hold since September 26, 2025 after a wire transfer and attempted withdrawal. Since then, I have been unable to log in to online or mobile banking, access statements, or obtain clear communication from Huntington Bank.
If you cannot restore access to my funds immediately, I expect a full refund of the wire transfer to the original sender. Please attach this message to Case #02057535 and provide me with a written update and timeline for resolution.
Sincerely,
Mary K. Gallmeier
Changing paper statement pref
Getting really pissed off about them changing my preference from paper to paperless statement! Statement doesn't come in the mail, then I find out they changed my preference. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES THIS YEAR ALREADY!
Fraud that turned into a lawsuit
When I moved to my new house, I already had a personal banking relationship elsewhere. But when I needed a new account for my business, I decided to give Huntington a chance because of their visibility and relentless marketing. That was a mistake I won’t make twice.
I started dealing with **Bob Marchese**, the branch manager. He might not like his name in this review, but I don’t care—everything I’m writing here is 100% factual. Eventually, we settled with the bank, but the way they operate is downright predatory.
At first, Bob seemed like a straight shooter. He was friendly, we’d talk while he processed my wire transfers, and he struck me as an honorable guy. One day, he pitched me on what he called a “signature loan”—really a line of credit based only on my personal credit score, no personal guarantees, no tax returns required. He made it sound like an old-school handshake loan. He never mentioned the SBA, just said it was an internal program. I declined at first, but months later circled back. Sure enough, I was “approved” for \$100,000. All I had to do was stop by, sign a couple forms, and pay a \$100 yearly fee to keep the line open.
In 2017, when I opened a new office, I tapped that line. It worked as advertised. Later, Bob even called me unsolicited and offered another LOC for a second corporation we owned. Same assurances: no guarantees, just a backup line “in case you need it.” That one came through at \$70,000. Both lines helped tremendously. Business was good, payments were made, no issues.
Then COVID hit. Government shut everything down, our heavily regulated industry couldn’t operate from home, and overnight my office was paralyzed. A billionaire client of mine once told me the golden rule: **never avoid your creditors—call them, work with them, protect your credit.** That’s exactly what I tried to do.
But Bob ghosted me. Wouldn’t return calls, ignored emails. Weeks went by until some snot-nosed kid finally picked up and treated me like I was a deadbeat. I calmly explained the situation and said I needed to know the process for default, since the business was wiped out. That’s when he dropped the bomb: “These loans are full recourse.” Excuse me? I pushed back—Bob explicitly told me otherwise. He smugly emailed me the contracts, and sure enough, they included **pages I had never seen, never been given, and never signed in my copies.**
That’s the Huntington scam: they’ll tell you whatever you want to hear to get you in the door, then “underwriting” slips in extra documents you never knew existed. It’s a 1970s bait-and-switch dressed up in modern branding.
I sued them for **fraudulent inducement and defamation of credit.** Their attorneys, who were at least professional, negotiated a settlement. I paid something, they agreed not to destroy my credit. The deal was “fair” in the legal sense, but the fact is Huntington had to lose money because of Bob’s lies. He never faced me again—just disappeared like a coward.
We were significant clients, and I wouldn’t let a 12-year-old open a lemonade stand account at Huntington today. They are desperate to stay competitive, and in that desperation, they will abuse and mislead their own clients. This is the same corporate rot that landed Wells Fargo and Merrill Lynch with hundreds of millions in fines for their scams. Wells Fargo opened fake accounts. Huntington buries undisclosed contract pages. Different method, same fraud.
With their deep pockets, they’ll keep paying fines and keep screwing people. My advice: **go to Chase, or literally any other bank.** And for the love of God, never sign anything with Huntington without a lawyer reviewing it first. That \$200 fee is a bargain compared to the hell they’ll put you through.
Had an auto loan through them
Had an auto loan through them. Paid it off in 3 months, with last payment in April. Insurance was set to renew, and I noticed I still had a lien on my vehicle 3 months later because Huntington did not properly release it. This made me think: I also never received my title after I paid in full. Called customer service: they claimed they mailed title to me already. I asked for tracking. Customer service rep stated that it was mailed standard USPS without any form of tracking/proof it was mailed. She is suggesting it was lost in the mail, and no copy exists. Her advice to me: I now have to take a half day off of work to go to DMV to get a new title. I guess I'm stuck with those fees as well?!?! I will NEVER use this institution for anything ever again. I will be leaving as many complaints as possible so that nobody else has to experience the headache that they have caused me.

I was with TCF bank in Minneapolis for over 40 years with not a single problem. Huntington bought them and it has been HELL for the last few years. Customer service never answers with a human, tells you they will callback and an hour later when they call they tell you to call another number. They messaged me to call in the first place, but they had no idea why they asked me to call!
I’ve had to change account numbers, access codes constantly. They took my full service bank and turned it into an office with 4 employees who can’t help you with anything. I can’t find a full service anywhere! I’ve had it. Get out while you still have your sanity!
I’m looking for a small credit union staffed by people!
I am a private banking client with…
I am a private banking client with Huntington, enrolled in their top-tier banking program. Unfortunately, my recent experience has been deeply disappointing and put me in a very difficult position.
For a recent business acquisition, the Huntington team actively pursued my business, strongly encouraging me to proceed with them for the loan. Regrettably, I trusted them and decided to move forward with the process. It quickly became apparent that they were unprepared and lacked the necessary expertise. Communication was virtually nonexistent—calls went unanswered, and emails received no response.
As a business owner operating on tight timelines, this was not only frustrating but also alarming. I was ultimately left with no choice but to return to my previous bank, who stepped in and successfully handled everything within a week.

I've had so many problems with my checking account and credit card, it's just not worth it anymore. I was locked out of my checking account, went into the bank, and the very nice man who helped me could not explain what happened. He had to cancel my account and start completely over. Today they declined an $80 charge for no reason whatsoever. Called customer service which first disconnected me after 7 minutes and upon my second call I got a message that said it's an hour wait time. So dear Huntington bank, I am just canceling my accounts and going somewhere else. Thanks anyway
Poor Experience
had a very disappointing experience with Huntington Bank. Without my consent or any clear explanation, they closed my account and placed my funds on hold. This left me without access to my own money, causing unnecessary stress and inconvenience.
What’s worse is that I’m not the only one — I personally know several other people who have gone through the same issue with this bank. This shows a troubling pattern of poor customer service and account handling.
Because of this, I will not be opening another account with Huntington Bank and cannot recommend them to others. Customers deserve transparency, timely communication, and access to their funds — none of which I experienced here.
I can't give a lower rating or I would
I can't give a lower rating or I would! I have a joint account with my Great Niece. She's in the military and I manage her finances. I initiated a bank to bank transfer and BAM! lost access to the account. I used the 2 step verification &verified the 2 withdrawls to authenticate the account. They shut down my on-line access!! I must take a cancelled check and photo ID to a branch. If a branch was close....I wouldn't NEED to use on-line banking. Why bother with all the on-line authentication if I have to go into a branch? Why didn't they divulge this info when we opened the account?
