Very bad experience with return items stay away
I bought a sofa cover online which doesn't fit in my sofa and as I'm i live in Drogheda i asked if I can return the product to the planning center at Scotch Hall and they said yes, once arrived they told don't take return items because they are just planning center, i rang costumer service and they told me that i have to go to an store far away or if they collect at my home there it is a surcharge of 30€ which doesn't worth as i bought the item on 20+ 6€ delivery and they charge big amount for collecting, very ridiculous, they should take care of it if don't have stores in town, i don't recommend buy online unless you are sure what you need or have facilities to return items.
have purchased multiple IKEA products…
have purchased multiple IKEA products over time, and my experience has been consistently disappointing in terms of material quality and assembly precision. Components feel lightweight and prone to wear, and fittings often lack the solidity one expects even at this price point.
Most concerning was a bed that, despite correct assembly, provided inadequate structural support and resulted in persistent neck discomfort. This raises questions about ergonomic design and long-term durability.
IKEA’s reputation is built on functional, practical design. However, affordability should not come at the expense of structural integrity and user wellbeing. I hope the company takes product quality and ergonomic standards more seriously.
I have previously left a one star…
I have previously left a one star review which was due to IKEAs policies and broken communication and structure of how they operate, which has caused me an extreme anxiety. However, I must now add that it was meant for a global online service, and mostly the chat support, not the particular store. I dedicate this review to Bristol, UK physical store, where staff, particularly management/leadership teams and some delivery guys, are incredible- professional and humane. Phone support has its bad days too and some advisors are difficult to talk to but 2 out of 3 times they are great and supportive too.
I'd say the main and simplest things for IKEA to fix at this point would be their online chat (AI bot is crap and human chat advisors need serious training) and their website which is a bit broken and would benefit from some UX improvements.

What is this
The worst experience ever!!!
The worst experience ever!!!
1 product 2 boxes got home both boxes same product unable to assemble the product and now my journey began my god it's like they hired the worst humans to answer the phone eventuality someone came and brought guesses?? Yes you are correct the same product as well and that's after I sent them pictures through WhatsApp
Calling again but now I get yelled at so I ended up talking to a manager she hung up the phone at my face
I don't know if it's helping someone making a decision but they are the absolute worst
Great value and solid furniture once you don’t mind putting in the elbow grease and have someone to give you a hand with the assembly.
I recently furnished my bedroom using pieces from IKEA’s MALM range and I’m genuinely impressed with how good it is for the price. The design is clean and modern, which makes the room feel bigger and more organised without looking overly minimal.
The bed frame is very solid once assembled and the storage drawers underneath are extremely practical. They slide smoothly and provide a surprising amount of space for bedding and clothes, which is ideal if you’re working with limited storage. The matching MALM chest of drawers and bedside tables also tie everything together nicely and give the room a cohesive look.
Assembly took a bit of time, as you’d expect with flat-pack furniture, but the instructions were clear and everything lined up properly. Once built, the furniture feels sturdy and well designed. The finish is also easy to clean and has held up well to daily use.
Overall, the MALM range offers excellent value for money. It looks great, is practical, and feels more premium than the price suggests. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for stylish, functional bedroom furniture.
Customer service fails...
On Saturday, 21.02.26 I bought a full combined wardrobe directly at the store, in Fürth, and there were quite a few pieces to register. We registered them all, even had the help from one of the IKEA staff, paid, however, at the end, when putting everything back at the cart, we forgot 2 pieces, at the corner of the cashier, realizing just once we were already at home. I came back to the store today, Monday, just to be told there is nothing they can do, if I forgot to put it in the cart is my fault. So, the 2 long pieces (232 cm each) stayed behind, someone from IKEA surely saw it, but they say is impossible to give it to us, since they do not know where they are. The article is BILLSBRO Griff 2220 – 10323599, just in case someone from IKEA is reading this…
We are usual customers to IKEA, already fully furnished several apartments with IKEA furniture and accessories, and is not that we are canceling them now because of this however, is just infuriating that the staff just shrug their shoulders and didn’t make any attempt to replace the pieces. Because the pieces are there, who would just take 2mt high pieces and walk away? probably the staff took it to somewhere else, a different area of the store but, because is not on the computer, bad luck…

Incompetent or ill intentioned and…
Incompetent or ill intentioned and customer pays the price. I returned a table 1 month ago. In the order 2 articles (a table with a drawer and a night stand with drawers). When returning the table (u could clearly see It was a table as the base I was returning was quite huge), he asks me if It was the product with a drawer. I said : yes the table has a drawer. The guy (Allan) proceeds to return the smaller and much cheaper product (thee night stand €39 ) instead of the table (€99). When I see the receipt and tell him, he proceeds to act annoyed (?) and almost tries to convince me that it was my mistake as he asked me if it was the product with a drawer when I clearly said the table with a drawer. Then he calls the manager, and he convinces the manager of his solution. Charging me again for the nightstand . 1 month later (2 days ago) I went to return the night stand and guess what, because the order appeared as returned I have not received any money. So now I gave the nightstand back but I have to contact ikea again.... I have the receipts of returns but the whole mistake is a big waste of time for me....

Today I went to IKEA and was absolutely astonished I brought some glass food storage containers and the sales assistant asked me if I scanned the lid and the glass container?
Who would sell a food storage container with a seperate lid?
I could not believe the sales assistant said that. It’s like buying a cookie jar with no lid astonishing. It took me by surprise. I have not been to Ikea in very long time.
I was totally shocked.
Bad store./
You would think that a company as…
You would think that a company as famous as IKEA didn't need researching before you buy from them. How wrong I was. I ordered a £165 shelving unit on 12th Feb and after charging a further £30 for delivery they stated that my unit will be delivered on 17th Feb. 17th came and left. I checked the tracking on 18th and discovered they had not even packed it, let alone handed it to the courier, let alone delivered it. So I rang them and told them I was not happy. I also cancelled my order. I was told they would refund me. But then I got this in an email....
(Your order 1582364577 has been cancelled as you requested and you can expect your refund within 14 days.) WHAT! 14 days for THEM to refund me. Then it can take up to 7 working days for it to clear in bank. I will not be using IKEA ever again. From now on I will trustpilot everybody before I buy. So if your listening kids, if you haven't got a trustpilot rating over 4.2. DON'T BOTHER ASKING TO BORROW. LOL.
