Like a knock-off version of a real Jacquie Lawson calendar

I have sent and received Jacquie Lawson advent calendars for years. This year's calendar is dreadful compared to previous editions and far more expensive. The cottage interior is ugly and has stayed the same since day one. The village isn't at all interesting and just seems like a cliched idea of various Christmas scenes cobbled together. There are no daily surprises, hardly any games, and it all feels recycled, twee and like a cheap version of a true Jacquie Lawson calendar. I had trouble downloading it - it seems like a different process to previous years? - and customer service was very poor. All in all, a very disappointing experience and don't think I'll buy again.

Desperately poor and dull 2025 Advent Calendar

Nothing like the Edwardian Calendar of 2023 that was superb; every day a new surprise inside the living room and one outside too! Beautiful house and interiors. Last year's Paris one was OK too, although not as good. This year the offering is so poor, ugly and dull! Once you have played the same old, same old handful of games, there is nothing new inside the house (apart from a cottage appearing daily on a bookshelf - most uninteresting). The village is desperately boring too as you have to wait for a new house to appear every day. Waste of money!

2025 Advent a fail!

I was gifted their 2025 Advent calendar. After 4days of use it locked me out. I got back in with the original gift email. Now 2 days later there are no date bubbles. No access to games. No Elves. You get the idea. This years offering needs a lot of work Jacquie Lawson!

Advent Calendar problems

I bought an Advent Calendar for my wife as in past years. After considerable problems downloading it, she can no longer access it and is being told by the website that it has no record of a calendar for her email address. Palpably wrong. The site seems a complete mess and I would advise anyone to give it a miss. Unlikely I will renew my subscription due to this and a disenchantment with the present jaded selection of cards. What a pity, used to fun and useful.

Cancelled ... I had been a subscriber of Jacquie Lawson for many years

I had been a subscriber of Jacquie Lawson for many years. Slowly year by year, the choice got less and less, very obvious that nobody was creating new work. They just kept collecting the subscriptions. It used to be a modest cost and served a purpose. I think it was last Christmas that the price jumped up alot, and at that point I decided enough is enough. As the original owners have sold up, i am not surprised to read the many negative feedbacks. I had just logged in today, to check if it was worth renewing, and clearly it is NOT. So I will be looking for alternatives and spend my money elsewhere.

The advent calendar just does not work on MacBook Air

so disappointing
This year, I bought lots of calendars (as I do each year) + one for myself. Strange - I added one more on a separate order, but wasn't given the discount.
The one I bought for myself has been impossible to use. The app keeps saying it has run into difficulties and the system administrator needs to be set - but that is me and I am already set ups s this.
Very poor experience.

It stopped working after 5 days

The Advent calendar stopped working after 5 days. I sent the message I received when I tried to open it to Jacquie Lawson "help" 3 days ago & who knows if I'll get any response. The biggest problem is that there is no recourse. At this point I've paid $10 for 5 days. Never again. I see that they were sold to American Greetings which is probably part of the trouble.

jacquie lawson looks lovely but beware...appalling lack of customer care!

'jacquie lawson is a darling company'. or so i thought. they do lovely, tasteful e-cards and their advent calendars are adorable, really exceptional. HOWEVER, having been a happily paying customer for ...well, since they started, i am horrified a the appalling customer service. i know they've been bought by an american giant but still.. they act as if they could . not. care. less.!!!!! this does not align with the 'gooey, sweet, loving ' nature of the product. having installed their delightful 2025 advent calendar i could not get rid of the image of the scene (lovely though it was) and had to 'force quit' my mac book air. in the process i have lost all my saved passwords and had to call the bank to get back in ! i cannot use the advent calendar therefore. the alternative is, that i can use the advent calendar but i cannot use my computer. they wrote to me (after two prompts) and some of it was in caps! shouting! as if the issue were with me! LOL ! honestly i was shocked. now i see everyone finds them poor/ disgraceful. such a shame . i wanted to think they cared. they don't. they just want your money. i always look for the good in people and things, but the fact is, they made it plain, they're not actually interested in you experience, or helping you, but just in getting the subscriptions in. it's a sad state of affairs really. beware of their products not arriving or messing up your computer... be careful. other than that, i love them! lol. take care everyone : )

Not what it used to be!

We have been using their cards and buying the Advent Calendar for many years now and have always been very happy with both the cards and the Calendar. The 2025 calendar instead is a let down, a boring rendering of a few houses and fewer games many of which do not work. Do not know what happened but it seems like somebody else did it assembling old ideas. Won’t bother to buy it next year. What a pity!

I've been charged £8 for a now useless calendar

I've been charged £8 for the calendar, which I updated since October & used for 3 days in December. Since then, it isn't showing in my purchase history, & I can't use it fully. I have emailed, but reading most of the comments on here, I expect I'll be left waiting for a reply!

2025 is dull vs previous years

Bought this for years for family and friends and this year we are all saying the same thing - far less new activities than in previous years. Finding the elves is the same as two years ago, and some days there is nothing else. For the many of us who find the videos a bit twee, and still have last year's calendar with the same games, opening this one is pretty dull. No colouring book of animals or scenes to 'colour'. I believe Jacquie and family have now sold their interest in the company. If new leadership think they can get away with offering a rehash of the previous years and very little that is new and interactive they are going to leave a gap in the market for others who will innovate and take their market share so much faster than they think.

It Gets Better Day by Day

I began disappointed in the 2025 Advent Calendar because it moved so slowly. I have the former three Advent Calendars, and they are lovely. This year, the house interior stays the same, so far no gifts to open, and I have to wait one building each day for the town to be built. However, as the town grows day by day, I find the activities to be well designed and the buildings are beautiful. I still miss having presents to open in the cottage.

This 2025 Advent Calendar Christmas…

This 2025 Advent Calendar Christmas Village is by far the best one yet!!!!
Fantastic!!!
The exquisite detail right down to what is in the windows of each building and the cars driving by, the nature and animals..
ALL is superb! Love it!
Thank you! And a very Merry Christmas to you all.

Gratefully,

JL Advent Calendar 2025 Disappointing

So disappointed with this year’s advent calendar. Been a JL member for many years and always look forward to their Christmas calendar. Sadly, not this year… so much smaller and lacks imagination that was present in earlier years. Way too many games and nothing to explore in the tiny village. Will not bother buying next year.

Cannot get understandable help when stops working

I cannot get calender to fully download anymore. They now say they have no record of download. But it opened fine when I first downloaded and activated. Now all they want is for me to buy another one. I have always enjoyed the calenders in the past, but will not ever buy anything from them again.

Advent Calendar no longer unique

We’ve had their Advent Calendars for over ten years, but they’ve now become samey. No longer well researched versions of real and imaginary towns. This year is just a pretty little village that grows each day, rather than a living breathing village that opens up each day. It’s simply not what it was. They used to be so good; I thought they would just keep innovating. Instead, they’ve rested on their lorrals and stagnated.

Can't access Advent Calendar

This year, I gave my wife a Jacquie Lawson (JL) Advent calendar, as I have done in the past. It used to require a simple click on a link, enter an activation code - job done, no problems. Ever since JL was taken over, I think by an American outfit, the experience has gone to pot. My wife has just spent some 45 minutes struggling to access the calendar, which now requires a combination of email, password, captcha, activation code and still refuses to work, taking the user in circles of frustration. Customer service? Nope. I will no longer be using JL for their once wonderful Advent Calendar - it is now simply a source of frustration. Avoid!

This used to be glorious

This used to be glorious! Christmas was coming and time for magical J L calendar..
not any more..
this year we tried one more time! And still… we can’t log on! Ever since they were taken over/ sold to an ? American company… I dont know…
It is sad. In this hectic world it was a bit of escapism …
I’ve been trying for over 3/4 hours.. to get the thing going.
Hopeless! And you can’t contact anyone it seems.
