The purchase has not arrived yet, 5 weeks! I cannot track it ans ask the customer service but they did not respond. Don't buy anything here.

Purchased a knife from the sister company japanesdirect.com and the company is total scam. Blade was bent and it was a total runaround to try and get it returned. I gave up and took my loss I would not buy a butter knife from this company. Take a look at their U.S. company headquarters on google earth. A run down shack in Seattle that needs a roof in a residential neighborhood.

Since I live in Europe, it took time to arrive , then customs came into the picture. I ordered the knife around a month ago, I haven’t received it due to customs and the duties I have to pay. I highly recommend the company creates an agreement and include vat in the purchasing price. Paid $250 for knife , paid €180 on duties. Totaling; 430 on the knife.!

I've dealt with Mr Iwahara many times now and his attention to customer service is utterly outstanding. On several occasions (as is the case with small batch, handmade products) portions of my order have been out of stock. He has always promptly informed me, been willing to reach out and find out precisely how long the wait times would be, and offer me a very informed range of alternatives.

He is always extremely fast to respond, and more than willing to work with you both in finding your next knife and getting it to you as promptly as is possible. And more importantly, he treats his customers with respect, which is something I can't say about his competitors I've worked with in the past.

This seller ships quick and the knives sold seem to be authentic. I bought from them a few times and I feel OK with them. However, when you are asked to write review for the product, take into consideration, just don’t waste much of your time, they never publish the negative reviews so people can only see the positive reviews on their products.

First purchase from them, and they did a great job. I requested writing this review, not the company, that's how impressed I am. They also have your order delivered by a shipping company that makes every other shipping company look like amateurs, even during the whizbang instant death super plague. Don't hesitate to purchase anything you need/want from them. My future knife purchases will be through them, and I'll be recommending them to staff as well as peers. The website has such a large selection to choose from but they put together some collections to make it easier to navigate and once you hold a knife like this, you will only want a Japanese knife to cook with. There is no comparison.

The finish on these knives was very impressive. The Damascus was forged well onto the high-carbon core and the edge was mirror polished and hair-popping sharp.

Mr. Iwahara is very responsive and gets the product shipped out immediately. I received my products within 2 days from Japan to the US. The knives arrived in perfect condition and the wooden Saya (sheath) were a perfect fit.

I am very satisfied with my experience and recommended this site to all my friends and family.

I have to say that I'm very impressed with the knives I've received. I just purchased my 3ed knife in 18 months and each time I ordered the knife has been shipped with in 8 -10 hours of purchase with a confirmed tracking number. My previous 2 knives arrived in 3 days and shipping was very fair ($7). The web site had been very useful in my opinion. I purchased a Inazuma Nakiri knife, and I'm very happy with it. The costumer service is very good and the cheap delivery service took 2-3 days from Japan to Denmark, where is was upheld in costums.
I highly recommend japanesechefknife if you are looking for a real quality knife.

Very fast delivery, very reliable and they answered all my questions through email all the time. I ordered knife Hattori HD on Friday and it was delivered on Tuesday following week from Japan to small village in middle of Europe (That's even faster than national delivery in my country!)
