Imposible to stop your VIP subscription and delete your account
If you sign up as a VIP, you will have to cancel your payment card to stop it being charged if you ever decide to stop using JEFIT. I had signed up with JEFIT back in 2016 and subscribed to their VIP level in order to customise my workouts, since at the time I could not find an app that supported supersets or circuits. It worked fine, but eventually I didn't need it any more so in 2019 I canceled my VIP subscription and chose to delete my account. Fast forward to 2021, when I received an email from JEFIT saying my autorenewal was to be processed on 04-Aug...I found that not only was my account not deleted, but still active under the VIP level (the account that the charge would go to no longer exists, so I was not worried about being charged). I went to the help page to find out how to deactivate/delete my account in case the process had changed and found the information there was not updated or just incorrect; it described a process that you neither do from a mobile device in a web browser nor in the app itself (in my case, an iPhone app, long ago deleted and reinstalled to try and find a way to delete the account). I wrote to customer service who told me that even after canceling your VIP subscription, 'autorenew' is turned on by default and must be turned off for the account to be fully deleted...this feature, by the way, does not exist anywhere for you to turn on or off. If you cancel VIP and try to delete your account, you will get an error saying you cannot delete your account because you subscribed as a VIP, even if you are showing as a 'regular' account, and because autorenew cannot be turned off by the subscriber, you are therefore trapped. I suspect that this is intentional, since once the end of your VIP period expires if you have canceled before hand, autorenew kicks in, charges your card, and sets you back to an active VIP user. Since the card I have on file no longer exists, I won't run into that problem, but other users surely will. After writing to JEFIT customer service and telling them my old bank account had been closed in 2019, they advanced the case to someone who theoretically could delete the account at last (realising I suppose that that they would get no more money from me). Six days have gone by and still the account has not been deleted, with customer service claiming their technician is just not replying. I have to say this shows the company as either woefully incompetent or building in feature that makes it impossible to halt paid subscriptions. Given the level of difficulty to execute what should be a simple process, I cannot and will not recommend this service to anyone. There are other, better apps with easier processes to unsubscribe that don't involve canceling your credit or debit card.
