I had a problem collecting a lot, marked for collection only, and the staff at John Pye Auctions really dug me out of a hole. To my great relief, they repackaged the lot so that it could be posted.
I must say, whenever I have had a problem the staff at John Pye, in particular Ryan G., have been very good at reaching a satisfactory conclusion.

This website is a scam. I was sold a broken second hand and dirty coffee machine which I thought was new and so paid far too much for. It’s fully of coffee with pieces missing. A total disappointment. They have no intention of refunding me. I would avoid. Apparently they don’t have to tell you if you’re buying something which is broken, second hand and not even cleaned up!?

I contacted customer services about an issue I had and spoke to Julian, he was kind and friendly and sorted my issue within minutes, a credit to the team , thanks again Julian!

Sent me a wrong item, claimed it was a ‘labelling issue’.
Was two weeks ago, still waiting for a refund.
Won’t be using this company again.

Persephone the customer service agent was extremely efficient in resolving the issue, also informative throughout.

I’ve purchased from John Pye Auctions multiple times before, but unfortunately this latest experience has seriously damaged my confidence in the platform.
I recently purchased a DJI Osmo Action 4 which arrived completely unusable due to an internally damaged USB-C charging port. The defect was not disclosed in the listing description and there were no detailed photos of the charging port itself. The camera cannot charge or even power on.
I fully understand that auction items are pre-owned and sold with risk involved. However, there is a big difference between normal wear and receiving an electronic device that is effectively dead on arrival because of a hidden defect.
What disappointed me most was not only the issue itself, but the complete lack of responsibility afterwards. The response was essentially that because viewing was available, no assistance or resolution could be offered.
In my opinion, auction platforms should do more to prevent sellers from listing heavily damaged electronics without proper disclosure. Even in auction environments, customers should still be able to trust that critical faults are honestly represented.
Unfortunately, after several purchases with John Pye, this experience will make me think very carefully before buying electronics through them again.

Ryan, was very helpful at providing me pictures of a lot before i bid. This was brilliant for me to determine the quality of the product before hand.

I have used john pye a few times and have had some good and bad items, I've learned to carefully read descriptions and to ask for additional images and information, which isn't always provided. I bid on a shed that was advertised, and won the auction. It has taken them a month to deliver it despite delivery charge of £150, and we have only received half a shed. I have liaised with them via email and there argument is that I should have visited and it shows only one box on images. However, they advertised as a shed rrp 677 and going on keter website, the shed can arrive in either 1 or 2 boxes. In addition going on other shed listing's, john pye have put if its only a partial shed, and if its only for example box 2 of 2.
Therefore they have misrepresented and as they have ignored my email I am taking further action.

Having closely read the description and checked the specification elsewhere I went ahead and won the auction. Unfortunately, the item I received was a cheaper model than the one described. The Nottingham branch were brilliant from start to finish. I completed the online contact form, as advised on the phone, and then the same person advised me through each step by email. I dropped the item at my nearest drop point and a full refund was issued once the package had been received by John Pye.
A simple mistake was quickly and easily rectified.

I bid on a Vax cordless hoover. It was in a Vax box which looked okay. When it arrived it was completely broken to the point of not being worth repairing. I immediately contacted customer services and was told I could not get a refund due to their terms and conditions. I have no quarrel with second hand goods but I do have a quarrel with a company that knowingly sells you an item which is so visibly broken and then refuses you a refund. After getting nowhere with customer services, I wrote to the managing director Adam Pye. To date, nearly three weeks later, I have still not had the courtesy of a reply. To me this speaks volumes , not just about John Pye as a company but about their managing director. If the managing director of a company is so rude to customers, then no wonder his staff won't entertain refunds on goods which have been sold in a completely broken state. I would not advise anybody to buy electrical goods from this company unless they are sold as sealed. If your item turns out to be faulty, broken and unusable you will not be given a refund. John Pye Auctions are lauded as one of Britain's fastest growing businesses which is all very well and good but not if they are doing it by cheating their customers.

Staff at Marchingron site are always pleasant & helpful. Had the odd error with listing's although Maya & Cody in the office went above & beyond to resolve for me. Keeping me updated & in a timely resolution. Great service!
Office Staff at Chesterfield site could take some training from these guys! If there were awards for zero customer service, Chesterfield you won it!

Beware, modern scam. They also do have insiders that will bid anonymous just to increase the price.

didnt give an answer on my questiion ... was issue with payment.. after they blocked me and didnt give me answer

The auctions are hit and miss and it seems it's not worth buying anything with a plug as it's most likely a returned item that won't work. After sales support was great, Persephone from the Marchington CS team was amazing in helping with a refund, very professional and prompt.

Response to my request was quick and was kindly dealt with satisfactorily.
The staff I interacted with, Shakira, was patient and willing to help.

I would not recommend buying from John Pye Auctions. There are a lot of hidden charges added on after you bid, which makes many items not worth buying in the end.
I bought a DJI drone that was shown with the controller and cables, but they failed to mention that the internal battery was missing. The listing also did not properly explain what parts were missing or whether the drone was actually working.
When I complained, they tried to blame the customer by saying you should attend in person to inspect the item yourself. That is not good enough. Listings should clearly state exactly what is included, what is missing, and whether the item has been tested.
The whole process feels misleading. If items are incomplete or untested, they should be honest and transparent about it from the start.

Very disappointing experience with John Pye Auctions.
I purchased two items through their auction platform — a coffee machine and a table. The table arrived broken, and the coffee machine does not work at all. Both items were effectively unusable upon arrival.
I contacted customer service multiple times requesting a refund and return label under my consumer rights, but they refused to take the items back or resolve the issue properly.
Selling damaged and non-functional products without accepting responsibility is completely unacceptable. Buyers should be extremely careful when purchasing from this company.
I am now escalating the matter through my payment provider and formal consumer complaint channels.
Would not recommend.
