Avoid

Avoid. I would never use them again. There must be a reason that only a few people using this estate agent. Sold our house 15k less than the asking price and they said to me we have sold our house at a 'good price'. I didn't get my money back for marketing package cost as promised. Very lay back estate agent, offer accepted and I didn't receive the letter confirmation until 2 weeks after. They didn't do the ID check of the buyer until days after. From my experience, I would not believe whatever they said.

Friendly service by the team

Friendly service by the team.
Took a while to sell my property only because the buyer pulled out and had to find another buyer.
Apart from that service was reasonable.
They do have a solicitor they recommend. Home property lawyers. Who prices was very responsible. Has many direct emails with no extra charges which I was happy with as I did have a number of emails with selling my property the first time.
So want to thank them too.

I received poor service from west kirby office

Rang and arranged for evaluation. To begin with a member of staff from west kirby office arrived late. Then rather than give me the evaluation said he would let me know. 24 hours later ive heard nothing. By the way we are selling 2 houses at same time . I rang again and was told they would get back to me , which they didnt. My experience has been no communication and poor service and due to this jc have lost sale of two houses

Not fit for purpose

Emailed them to make an offer on a property as soon as it was listed. No response. Called them numerous times to chase up only to go to voicemail, sent follow up emails. Again, I've had no response and no returned correspondence from them. Assuming at this point the property is now gone. Useless...

I am writing this review as a potential Frustrated Purchaser

I am writing this review as a potential purchaser of a house on their site, the house was setup on a “modern auction”, which is short for “estate agent gets a lot of money and everyone else involved either gets less or pays more”. However my feedback is not based on that it’s about the complete lack of transparency of the purchase process or aspect of it.. The property sale page mentions it being sold under “modern auction” and refers to T&C.. and that where it ends with a reference, I searched the site there is no mention of “modern auction” anywhere about from the page where it’s, not what this means including..

When the sale is
What the terms of the sale are
Legal pack availability (if any)
The cost of the process...

Nothing zip zero.. lack of transparency... just a bit but here is the kicker we were told twice VERBALLY only. That the fee was £6k... ( this is on a house with a “guide price of 63k ) no details on whether this was including or excluding VAT. However since it not written down anywhere on the site It could be a arbitrary figure.

The “modern auction” is a rip off at the best of times and is under investigation by trading standards, due to lack of transparency. However Jones and Chapman if you are reading this please not there is a huge difference between lack of transparency, and no transparency with no supporting information available on you primary sales portal.

Cowboys

Put house on the market and paid for the overpriced package.
Signed contract , monies handed over then that was that. 3 viewings all carried out by me. I was promised an open house, booked a weekend away, never did i hear nor see sales man again once monies exchanged his words were " it's in our interest to find you somewhere to move to" , not even one contact , suggestion or follow up.
Put in a complaint it was ignored. Took house off the market. Them some months later received a glossy brochure through the door with my house plastered all over the front as sold subject to terms. All my photos were on leaflet and these were distributed throughout the neighbourhood with no authorisation from me.
They offered £50 , they breached their own contract.
I didn't take the £50. I would not recommend them.

Terrible experience of dealing with Jones and Chapman, Heswall, their Area Manager and Head Office

Our experience of dealing with the Heswall branch of Jones and Chapman was disgraceful. Issues were as follows:- 2 occasions the house was left without the alarm being set by J & C following a viewing. We had previously instructed them to set the alarm every time and they had agreed to that. 1 occasion it was left unlocked by J & C and so totally unsecured without being locked or alarmed. This viewing had been carried out by the Manager himself. J & C took people into the property without notifying us prior to the visit.
J & C notified us that an offer had been made on our property, that it was cash and there was no chain. After accepting the offer on this basis we found out the reality was that, it was a buyer with a mortgage and there was a chain! We instructed J & C not to put “Under Offer” on the board outside the house. They ignored this and put up an Under Offer sign. I rang the Manager at J & C to voice my complaint about the issues above, he said he would talk to the staff and get back to me. Despite numerous contacts to the offices I never heard from the Manager afterwards. I rang the head office, Connells Group, and spoke to a Compliance Controller in the Complaints Department. He then fruitlessly tried to contact the Manager of Heswall Branch. I was appalled that a Head Office complaints department could not get to speak to their own branch manager.
The official complaint was then sent from the Head Office to the Area Manager in charge of the Heswall Branch. However the Area Manager also refused to respond to Head Office. Then Head Office wrote to us stating we had rejected the Area Managers response despite the fact that they had previously written to us to state that the Area Manager had refused to respond to the complaint. Head Office eventually submitted their final response to us, however even this was after the deadline we had been given for their response. We asked The Property Ombudsman to look at the case they stated:-
I have supported the complaints that have been made and consider that the circumstances merit an award of compensation. My award will reflect the avoidable aggravation, distress and inconvenience caused to the Complainants. I accept there were shortcomings in the service provided by J&C.
J&C have acknowledged that the information initially provided by the branch caused confusion. As such J&C have not fulfilled their obligations, under the TPO Code of Practice, in that they did not pass the correct information to the Seller regarding the Buyer’s financial status.
In accordance with Paragraph 8h of the TPO Code of Practice, J&C were obliged to exercise reasonable diligence to ensure that, after any visit by them, the Property was left secure. I accept that J&C did not follow the Seller’s instruction regarding resetting the alarm.
J&C have acknowledged that when the initial complaint was raised, calls were not returned despite requests from J&C’s Compliance Department for the branch to do so…….. J&C have further acknowledged that the Complainants did not receive a response to their initial complaint. The Complainants chased for a response and received a letter which stated that a further review would be conducted, however no previous review had been conducted. J&C have acknowledged that their Internal Complaints Procedure had been breached because an initial review had not been conducted. In accordance with Paragraph 14d of the TPO Code of Practice, J&C were obliged to acknowledge all written complaints within three working days and promptly undertake a proper investigation. A formal written outcome of the complaint had to be sent to the Complainants within fifteen working days of receipt of the original complaint. In accordance with Paragraph 14e..The Complainants did not receive a formal response to their initial complaint and as such were not informed of how they could escalate the matter. This significantly delayed the complaints process. All in all a terrible experience start to finish
