Helpful Staff

I contacted JRC before hand as there isn't an option to explain disabilities on the booking page and the fact we had an 11mth old baby. The lady, Florin, was so lovely and responded quickly. It was a bit frustrating that I wasn't offered a seat while we waited for the que to move us forward. The staff were lovely though and the food was really lovely. So much choice, refilled often, hot, fresh and tasty. I think there could be more staff organising ques around the food as people are so rude and barge in from all angles. I did find that groups of teenagers weren't asked to keep the noise down with the swearing and throwing food around the table. The food stations and toilets are very clean. Will definitely go again, just maybe not on a weekend. I really appreciated the help and the security guard as you come in was super friendly too.

Steer clear from Wood Green JRC buffet

We paid the entry fee and prior to getting our food, we thought we’d order some drink to enjoy with our meal, order coke etc and wanted some Chinese tea in a pot, they gave me one cup and I asked for another and the bartender said she cannot give me another cup as I had to purchase another pot of tea! I found her rather rude! I told her I’d leave this and they stared at us thinking we are scavengers! I’d avoid this place at all costs! I don’t pay money to be insulted! Very appalling service and the manager needs to train their staff better.

Cardiff at Millennium Plaza

Cardiff at Millennium Plaza. Went there and we were taken to a table. Nobody explained what to do. The Indian station was completely empty and never refilled. Very little meat just the cheap noodles and veg which was mostly slimey.

It is a scam

I received an email from JRC Croydon about child eat for free. I read it carefully and it says the offer is on Monday to Friday between 5pm-6pm. Just to make sure, I rang them up, they told me I can book a table during the offer time and show my email to the till to get the offer. I booked a table for 7 adults and just one child on Monday at 5:30. When we turned up and try to pay, we were told that the offer is only valid for the second time visit!!! That was such a joke! They lied to the customer and their cheating behavior is illegal. I even got my call record from my three account showed exactly the date and time and duration I called them and the email I received from them without a single word saying it is for the second time visit only! The woman on the till was rude and I asked for manager and she said I can find the contact on the website and sort it out myself. Don’t trust them and don’t go there! They are a group of scammers.

Awful food, avoid

Went to global buffet with my husband and had an awful experience, food at the starter station was stone cold. We tried a bit from the Indian section, the Chinese section and the American section and all of it was tasteless, Luke warm and the Chinese was really slimy, it was awful, just left sitting there for ages with no one checking it or stirring it etc. the only section that was really edible was the dessert section and they were mediocre. We were both very ill shortly after, we never went to get medical help so can’t say for sure but was too much of a coincidence. This place is so overpriced for the awful food it serves up, no wonder why they make you pay first. I did write an email to complain and to see if I could recover any costs but was just offered a free meal which I obviously did not want to subject myself to again. Avoid at all costs

Read the reviews

Partner phoned 10 days before our booking date of 20/11/24, and was told you don’t need a booking just walk in,a promotion was on that if it’s someone’s birthday they get their buffet for free.. just take proof that it’s an actual birthday.
Great 11 adult s 1 child turned up at a cost of £287.50 ,- the one free place. BUT. the birthday boy had to pay full price as in the jrc small print was you had to phone 24 hours before ( completely unaware of this) to verify birthday, man at jrc was very smug on the counter and wouldn’t budge, and his smile was getting wider and wider, 2 others in our company had already arrived and paid,
I would have gladly walked out if they hadn’t already paid. Food was ok 6/10 like you would get in a middle/ poor hotel in Benidorm.

Read the small print about free birthdays
Won’t be going back for nearly £300

Avoid if you want good food.

Food quality is poor and not actually tasty. The range on offer on the evening I went was limited. They were slow to replace food. Staff on Dim Sum section didn't answer when asked a question about what the food was. Labels missing on a lot of the items. A member of staff on dessert section, told me off for serving food in particular way. I of course ignored him completely!
It was not a good experience at all and has gone downhill since the last time I visited. Will not be going again. Really not worth £27 per head. AVOID!

Group of 4 ate at Gobal Buffet Croydon

Group of 4 ate at Gobal Buffet Croydon. We ran late on the first sitting and they were kind enough to amend our times, twice. However we did not enjoy our experience dining there. We paid £28 per person, which is a high price considering that eating out these days is a treat. We really astonished us, staff informed us that we are responsible to clean dirty plates from our table - do they want us to wash up as well? We were not very happy about this - furthermore, we believe there was a eating slot of 2 hours, however this is not the case - anyone with a booking is allowed to eat for 1hr 45mins - those without a booking can eat for 1hr and 30mins. This is clearly not stated anywhere on their website nor told to guest when they arrive.
We were rudely interrupted by a staff to be told we had 20mins to eat - we assume we had another 35mins, not knowing there was this 1hr 45min rule.
Also since the policy is for guest to clean they own table (which is unacceptable) why are staff walking around with a cleaning trolley, plus a staff did clean our table for us - she was kind and friendly. We also observed the same staff cleaning other tables (removing dirty plates etc) not just wiping the tables as management informed us. very bad - we will not eating there again and we won't recommend it to any of our friends - and we know a lot of people!

AVOID THIS PLACE

Ate at watford JRC today. Most fo the food was cold, several bits of the Chinese were actually stone cold. We tried the next section, again, steamed veg wasn't even lukewarm.
Tried the starters, they have warning signs up saying all starters cooked in the same fryers, which means all the veg stuff goes in with the meat and fish. My veggie spring rolls tasted fisher than the fish fingers.

Seriously folks, avoid this place. It may look nice, but after spending over £50 not including the drinks, where I'd say 60% of the meal got left, I'd go somewhere else and eat.
Someone in position of authority needs to ho and inspect this place before someone gets taken ill

JRC new location in Cardiff

The entrance hall is very pretty with artificial flowers and foliage, not entirely needed, but looks good all the same.

I believe there are two halls for seating. We sat in the first hall, just to the left of the entrance. I did not see the second hall so cannot comment.

The tables are very tight and I was constantly having to check both directions before moving my chair out. It was like a game of tennis bobbing your head back and forth, until it was clear.

The buffet selection seems greater than what you had when the restaurant was in Cardiff bay. However, this means a smaller selection of the different dishes. They have a large salad range, I don’t remember this in the bay. I’m not sure who would go for an all you can eat salad, but the choice is there. Also seafood options, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Sunday lunch options, Japanese, vegetarian.

To account for the additional options you have less Chinese dishes, less Indian dishes etc etc.

A good selection of sweets and desserts but no chocolate fountain, which they had at the location in Cardiff Bay.

The food was hot and tasty, no issues on that front.

They have stopped offering bottomless soda drinks and the price of one is pretty much the same as the previous bottomless option.

Plates are smaller and plastic. If you have something like steak this is difficult to cut and the plate moves around table or tips.

Generally it was an okay visit. Given the fewer option of dishes I do not feel it is value for money, for me at least. I wouldn’t necessarily not go back there, but I certainly wouldn’t rush back. If a friend suggested going, I would. But it wouldn’t be my suggestion.

JRC in Cardiff bay was better.

not worth the price. rude staff

watford branch.
pro: large food selection.
wide space.
easy to get to.
parking nearby.
buffet section for children.

cons:
food wasn't great. below average taste for the price.
the sushi section was very disappointing. no actual sushi. only fishstick/crabstick imitation meat, chicken, and veggie.
dimsum area does not have sauces.
the cream dessert was a bit bland.

our visit. 10th May, 18:00pm:
the supervisor in our area was rude. very dismissive. told us we werent allowed to sit without asking us, as we had a reservation.

the lady on the bar/drinks area was alone hence causing delays serving a lot of people waiting.

Wood Green branch

This is the worst buffet I've ever been to! Not only was the meat not cooked properly, the food was highly salted and lacked flavor. When we asked to speak to a manager, a card was given to us to make a formal complaint! Nothing else!
I was mortified to discover that soft drinks were not refillable unlike the Ilford branch. I don't understand how they could charge so much to get in and have the nerve to charge £3 for a small bottle of coke. I would plead with you not to waste your money nor time with this place. If you want a decent buffet experience, I would highly recommend the Ilford branch. That one is nice. Wood Greens branch needs to close down or needs to be ran differently.

DISGUSTING TOILETS

This was Mother's Day, we enjoyed the food but the toilets were disgusting. Dark to hide the filth and a queue of ten ladies in the corridor waiting. Of the three ladies cubicles, two were locked and the one that was open had no catch on the door let alone a lock. The two pig trough sinks were half full of water not draining out and full of horrid stuff in there. We were told the gents toilets were no better. It makes one wonder what the staff toilets are like and how hygienic are the staff? Cardiff Bay

Wood green brunch

Wood green brunch. Woow, what a bad buffet. the atmosphere seems very dark, well you just arrive and there is 2 security guard at the entrance, so weird right.
I ended up there after check they website what mentions a lot of different cuisines from around the world. Nahhh, thats a lie.. Is pretty much a big china town like buffet restaurant.
The website is as big catch. It don't mention any brunch where you can find this variety.
