My kids currently go to this school as of right now. The teachers communication with the us is ridiculous. They are horrible at communication. I don't recommend.

This review only speaks to K12 Friendship Chartered School NE, Washington, DC regarding a specific teacher whise name I was asked to remove. Removing this teacher's name dies not remove her from my memory or clean up her unprofessional behavior. Her inability to communicate effectively with parents, especially those with issues regarding their children, is below par. She needs to be mandated to undergo training that will strengthen her ability to communicate professionally and exercise a level of empathy with both parents and students. Presently, she totally lacks an ounce of emotional intelligence. The sad thing is the administration retains these lack luster teachers, instead of properly dealing with them, which allow such behavior to fester like cancer. Who is left with the aftermath, parents and students. Every school is good until it's not. It would be very callous of me to give the impression that ALL teachers are corrupt at the school because they are not. Case in point, there are two wonderful teachers at Friendship but I was asked tobremove their names which doesn't diminish my opion of them. Now, you wonder why some children are so overwhelmed and many can't cope in a positive way because their complaints were not taken seriously and hidden behind bureaucratic nonsense.

You don’t help the students before they are in trouble only after

As enrollment numbers continue to increase, like many parents, I wonder if the educators are being stretched to the limit and beyond. Are students getting enough time or opportunities to get needed assistance? Maybe it’s time for A.L.V.A. to look at ways to improve or reduce the teacher per classroom size/ratio. I’m concerned for the educators as well as the students who are not allowed enough time for questions and additional help when needed.

Lack of communication between teachers students and parents when we tried to call we never got a straight answer from anyone. I would not recommend this program to anyone plus yall didn’t tell us about my kids cords for graduation until the day of graduation then when we reached out to ask about them nobody ever called me back

My twins love the Alva home school program and we will continue. They are learning faster than they would if they were in a brick and mortar school and they don't get any noise from bullying and peer pressure like things that lead kids astray from their school work.

The teachers were nice, very helpful, informative, and involved. They make sure that you know what’s going on with your child every step of the way, and if there is anything that your child needs, they make sure that they have it. I am very thankful for Alva.

I’ve had two daughters to graduate from K-12/2022 & 25. We had a great experience. Teachers were hands-on, counselors were ready & available, technical support was there. I recommend K-12 to anyone who wants a different experience from the public school system.
