Looking at 30 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently praise the exceptional quality, freshness, and delicious taste of the produce, often noting it surpasses supermarket alternatives and lasts longer. People appreciate the fantastic variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, alongside an extensive range of other locally sourced products. Many consumers also value supporting local farmers and the Kent economy. However, some customers noted occasional issues with produce quality, reporting instances of rotten carrots, unidentified loose leaves, or even finding a maggot. I decided to try a box because I really don't eat enough veg. As I am on my own, it's quite a lot, but because it's so lovely and fresh, it's easy to prepare and freeze the surplus. The actual veg isn... See more

Great Local Produce, Great Service - Please support

I want to thank this wonderful company for doing a great community service. I joined in early March and have had nothing but an amazing experience.

(Once a hiccup with my box going missing but that was when they had a new driver due to the covid crisis and it was rectified.)

The produce is of excellent quality and arrives on my door early every Saturday. It's mixed and varied and makes cooking fun as your never sure what your going to get. I especially enjoy the pea shoots and tomatoes... They are full of flavour.

You can list what you don't like - chickweed, Cucumber and Brussels for me. (Chickweed tastes like grass!)

I went for the veg box, I did try the fruit box but I prefer to know what I'm getting and the bananas were heavily bruised.

A few things that they could improve on:
- A better easier website, as someone who's made websites I could see this one being improved easily 10 fold. Its quite an easy thing to do and I'm 100 percent sure they could improve efficiency.
- Info on what is in the box a day or 2 before. They do produce a weekly rough guide but it would help you plan your other shops more.
- More add-ons, I have to decide my addons on a Monday for a Saturday delivery, adding a box of eggs on a Thursday would be a nice thing to be able to do.

So in summary:
- Great Local Produce
- Efficient Delivery
- FANTASTIC Customer Service
- Minimal packaging and recycle box
- Just need a better website/ordering system

The boxes are recyclable and the packaging is minimalist.

So please do try this business when they are open up to new orders again. Thanks for being covid 19 Heroes.

Buy local and seasonal

I've been with KentVegBox for a few years now. In these odd, unsettling times, what they do chimes perfectly with the way I think we should have been living for a good while now - and how we should all try to live once the current "lock-down" is relaxed. Eat LOCAL and SEASONAL!

Simply, they supply, at reasonable cost, a weekly box of local, seasonal fruit and veg delivered to your door. It arrives, literally, in a box, mostly loose (so, minimal packaging). This week (April 2020) I received a beautiful cauliflower, potatoes, onions, some chard, a bag of chickweed (how many supermarkets stock THAT?!), some apples, a capsicum, leeks, a cucumber. All safely delivered (no contact) to my doorstep.

They can, if you wish, supply just a few items (e.g. oranges) which are not local (Kent not being known for its orange groves!) but personally I prefer my weekly box to contain ONLY local produce and get oranges/bananas elsewhere.

There are also "extras" you can order: local milk and yoghurts (still in single-use plastic packaging - bad mark!), eggs, cheese, fish, meat, artisan bread.

The owners, working from their farm in Maidstone, Kent, work tremendously hard, seven days a week, and I am full of admiration for what they do. They are efficient and personable: a Sunday evening e-mail about next week's delivery often gets a personal reply ... on Sunday evening. These people work really hard.

I understand that certain other, better-known, veg box schemes actually import some of their produce. All organic, doubtless, but NOT local. With KentVegBox it's local (OK - some stuff from as far away as Sussex). That's important.

At the moment, under covid19 lock-down, you may find it difficult to sign on as a new customer ... but once all the restrictions are eventually relaxed I urge you to consider this excellent service so you can buy and eat seasonal and local.
