Terrible support and number porting issues
As others posted, if it works, it works.
For me just issues. Spent about 3 weeks to try to port my number; chatting, emailing, etc. They just kept saying it's being investigated.
Then, they said I had to retry with the first 17 digits of my SIM#. Then last 17 digits. Then first 16 digits. Then it got stuck for a week, and then had to try with the first 18 digits, that would REALLY work.
Nope, didn't work.
Bear in mind support is in India so lots of kind words, but only delay tactics & no actions.
So I've given up, I'll leave my number with my old provider.
Absolutely terrible support.
Terrible sales service
I bought a recharge voucher for kogan mobile online, and was charged twice using PayPal to pay. I requested a refund of one of the payments. Instead the help centre cancelled my order. Now I was charged twice for no SIM card. Call centre were useless and unable to help. I’ve had to raise disputes with PayPal for both charges. Avoid!
I had purchased a voucher for medium…
I had purchased a voucher for medium plan on Black friday sale on 18th November for $150. On 4th of December they charged me again for the same plan $250 saying they had auto renewed the plan when i had disable the auto renewal. So in actual fact i am now being charged twich for the same plan. The total cost is more than the large plan ??? I have sent an email and did live chat but no one is resolving this issue. Please refund my $250 asap before i take this up further. absolutely shocking customer service.
Run the other way!!!!
Absolutely pathetic. Bought a new phone on 13th, had to buy a new eSim, accidentally deleted old eSim from old phone (resetting for my wife to use). Told I'd have to do an identity verification process with Vodaphone. Didn't ever hear from Videophone but got an identity check request from TPG ! Bottom line is that I have an existing prepaid account with Kogan for 12 months and have been using it just fine for 2 months but still cannot use my new phone 4 days after purchase.
Highly recommend Amaysim...
Miserable to set up
If your porting your old phone number over make sure you get all of your details exactly correct otherwise to retry you’ll have to order a new sim card - meaning if you get your details incorrect 3 times then you’ll have to order 3 seperate sim cards costing $15ea for each attempt you try to remember your details. Unfortunately i gave up and went with a new number becuase of how frustrating it was and also trying to deal with hard to understand customer service support. Only reason i stayed is because of the low prices and good vodafone network coverage. If your ready to deal with non-australian customer support and have super accent hearing skills over the phone then it could be worth it, otherwise Kogan Mobile made it a horrible process and all the customer support cared about is whether they get good review stars or not. Unimpressed.
Ridiculous customer service
The customer service experience has been extremely frustrating. They double-charged my Kogan mobile plan, and since they don’t have a contact number in NZ for customer support, I had to email them. The support staff keeps asking for my credit card details to confirm the issue. I’m puzzled as to why they need my credit card details when they already have it in their system. I believe they can verify my identity through other means, and I don’t feel comfortable sharing my credit card details. This is ridiculous 😡😡
Additionally, I decided to terminate their service and disable the auto top-up feature a month ago, but it continues to charge me. To make matters worse, I discovered that they charged me for the full month’s plan just two days before I canceled. I emailed the staff, but they have been unable to provide a satisfactory answer. It’s been over two weeks, and despite suggesting that they consult their manager if there’s a language barrier, no action has been taken. Just keep ignoring my questions 😡😡😡
I call the customer service number on the main Kogan Website , then refer to the Australia Department. They said NZ doesn’t have customer service to contact (but that’s the only number on the website). The AU staff pretty much just saying is none of business and her attitude is very bad as well.
I’ve request the staff in my email to forward my request to his manager who can understand English, but never happened. There is no other way I can make the complaint. So I have to post it here. Ridiculous!!!
Simply the worst
After reporting my phone stolen and requesting a block and new SIM I am still waiting for a replacement SIM nearly one month later. A combination of poor processes and general ineptitude seem to be causing the problems at Kogan. Customer service and support is non-existent. Doesn't stop them billing you though.
9/10/23 Update: Lodging a complaint via One got some action. One NZ get 5 stars for their service
Cancel the Subscription !!!
First thing to do is to cancel their FIRST membership as soon as you finish the purhcase. They will charge you for whol year's subscription fee in one go. This is half of the price of the mobile plan we purchased. It feels like being scammed. Network speed is slow but thats okay, no problem with just browsing social media.
using Kogan now for two and half years
using Kogan now for two and half years. amazing deals and far better compare to all leading new Zealand mobile network companies. Kogan is simply the Best. Very Cheap prices with heaps of Data every month and with unlimited minutes and texts..
SMS Problems
The old adage applies here - you get what you pay for.
SMS doesn't work properly on Kogan Mobile NZ. This means that services like iMessage on your iPhone cannot activate.
I tried hard with their online support people to resolve this problem.
Online support replies quickly, but the support is only ever delaying tactics. For example - we'll email you, we'll raise a ticket, please respond to this email.
Today I was told technical support had phoned me and solved my issues. Obviously, they had not - this was fabricated. This was the last of my patience. I am now swapping provider to a more reputable brand.
My questions about my pre paid service…
My questions about my pre paid service were answered swiftly by the operator, and I have never had a problem with my service
helpless help!
helpless help!
The mix of 5 and 1(want to be zero) star reviews says it all. if it works it is cheap and good value. If it does not the best you can get is delay tactics from the online help that is unable to help, or even understand anything!
took 2 sim cards to get off the starting blocks.
Since then over a month of delays, -no progress -no data -no refund...
As another reviewer noted here, you can't put a review on their site, even though they have positive reviews on there!?
Not worth the risk or the time wasted
Nothing but issues and terrible customer support
Took 2 weeks to port my number on to my new SIM. Customer support was terrible throughout with no one to talk to, only their online chat service or via email. Their reps have average English at best and are less than helpful. Now my number is ported I can’t send SMS without receiving a “message failed to send” bounce back. Once again their customer support has no answers with no one to call. Going to change providers at the end of my prepaid month. If only zero stars was an option…
Thanks very much Faisal from kogan…
Thanks very much Faisal from kogan mobile for the excellent costumer service I received when ringing the helpline. Very Quick service, I was never put on hold, super helpful and friendly. Kogan mobile plans have always been great especially their flex plans, never had any complaints, except that coverage can be difficult to get in regional area's.
Thanks very much Mervyn from Kogan…
Thanks very much Mervyn from Kogan customer Services. I am 80 years old and had trouble with activating my sim. Mervyn talked me through the process with great patience. He spoke slowly and clearly and was great to deal with. Thanks very much Mervyn
Dodgy recharge
Beware about recharging as they want to lock you into Auto Recharge so they can rip you off by charging what they like and the reception is terrible so please stay away from this dodgy crowd because they obviously couldn't careless about their customers so I would recommend going to Optus.
0 STAR SO TRASH
I succesfully ported my number. I am able to make and receive calls. Send SMS and the other party can receive the SMS. HOWEVER I CANNOT RECEIVE ANY SMS FROM PARTIES WHO IS CONNECTED WITH OPTUS MOBILE PROVIDER. Friends who are with vodafone I can receive, and same with telstra but not dodo and optus. I have experimented this by getting various of people to SMS me. I contacted customer support and they did not help, I am still waiting to receive a call from their upper team to help me. They better be able to give me a refund if they don't fix this problem.
Avoid at all cost
Not able to activate, sim is useless - their online chat is basically a bot with a scripted response. Their reviews on their website are fake as you're not able to leave a review. Avoid!
Sim could not be activated
Sim could not be activated, they only have an online chat system that passes the blame. Would not recommend wasting your money or time.
International Call Bolt On
I purchased a International Bolt On Package for access to the USA. I considered it to be a good deal but afterwards the saying 'You get what you pay for' rings true'. I attempted to make numerous calls to several international banks in the US including Chas and Citibank using the numbers provided by these banks on their Websites. Sadly after completing the dialing, the response was that 'THIS NUMBER HAS BEEN BLOCKED FROM KOGAN MOBILE SERVICES'. Further investigation proved that hidden in the fine print and numerous website pages, Kogan has listed the prefixes of all such numbers that are blocked. Bear in mind please that these are only 'prefixes' ...they are not the entire number. I totalled the list and it came to just under 1900 numbers. So my advice is not to use Kogan International Plans thinking that it will provide you with access to every number - it does not and Kogan does everything to make this information hard if not impossible to access.
