Most unhelpful people

Landmark mortgages really are the most stupid set of 'professionals' I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.
Despite the previous owners of our home having moved out over 2 years ago, and Landmark themselves sending us the new address for correspondence, they continue to send mail for the previous owners.
This is after several phone calls, letters, all mail having been returned to sender, and solicitors confirmation they have no interest in this property since the date of the sale.
I'd hate to be in the position of someone actually having a mortgage or similar with them, it must be purgatory getting any sense out of them.

Got to be the worst mortgage company

Got to be the worst mortgage company! Call back non- existent and totally unprofessional. We had no choice in going with them, as we were with Northen Rock and if had we know now, what this company, is like, then we would off picked someone else. We been over paying and never missed a payment and wanting a draw back is totally out of the question.

Stay well clear of them

Quite simply incompetence out of this…

Quite simply incompetence out of this stratosphere.
Communication was awful, discus something on the phone then a letter would arrive saying something totally different.
They cost me derely on my credit score on something their fault and despite ombudsmen would not help. They offered me a derisory compensation rather than correct my credit score .

I could go on and on about this awful company but please if you value your sanity and frustration avoid who I consider to be easily the worst business I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

Total scam of a company

Total scam of a company. Obviously taking orders from Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum. “You’ll own nothing and be happy.” The government won’t help as they are controlled by the WEF and committing treason against its citizens. The blood is on their hands as people/families end up in poverty, homeless, and suicidal. Landmark needs to be investigated. Just who owns Landmark….blackrock?

Completely useless

Completely useless. Had an enquiry about a Northern Rock mortgage which we paid off fifteen years ago but no-one was prepared to help other than tell us to write to their office in Skipton. Judging by other comments we will have a long wait for a reply! Avoid these people if you can.

Awful company to deal with

Awful company to deal with. requested paperwork last August that we were entitled to, and 6 months later ee were still waiting for it. We decided to get out of Landmark and remortgage because of all the problems that they had caused. When they took over our mortgage from Northern rock, it seems they changed us from a repayment to an interest only without our knowledge and we ended up owing them double what the house was worth.

Called 12 days ago asking for a full and final settlement of my mortgage to be told to call back 5 days later. Now they are saying they dont have my figure as they are waiting for some more information. I have been on an interest only mortgage for years and the rate is currently over 9% as you can imaging I want to get this settled and come away from them. There really are no words other than Stay away!! I really thought this would have been resolved by now. These companies should be struck off absolute cowboys

Sadly can`t give no stars as I feel this would be appropriate. Trying to get details or facts is apparently " against company policy" .... I would give top marks for evasiveness, unhelpfullness and dreadful customer service. Unable to talk to the decision makers ( backroom staff) as they are not allowed to talk on phone, converse by e mail or chat bot ( company policy AKA evasive ) .... they will waste time, and money, by writing at their leisure. welcome to a money grabbing company bunch of leeches. Get out as quick as you can

Landmark overcharged me and will not refund it

My Landmark mortgage ended 3rd December 2023. I rang and reminded them in Nov. Despite this they took the full months deduction in December and despite ringing them in December and January and writing in January 2024, they have still not refunded the 28 days payment owed to me. It looks like I will have to take them to Court to get my money back.

Scum please avoid.

I am desperate for help, asked them to help and refused. I asked to go on an interest only mortgage for a year, just to help me out while I’m struggling with my disability and lack of work, I am currently paying over £900 and 9.24% on my mortgage, interest only would save me a measly £142 per month but it all helps I thought. This is the best bit, they then said I can’t afford to go on interest only!! What? But I’d be saving money? Never missed a payment! Nope sorry no interest only.
The agents were absolutely useless, offered no help at all, just a tough luck pal you’re on your own.
Looks like I’ll be losing my house that I’ve had for 17 years and still no nearer to paying it off.
AVOID THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Landmark Mortgages, An absolute Scam!!!!!

Landmark Mortgages and all the other companies who operate their businesses like them should be outlawed in this country and anywhere they have presence. I have given one star just because this platform will not allow me to write my review. Otherwise Landmark Mortgages Ltd deserve nothing. They are an absolute scam, and a disgrace on society. We were inherited by them from Northern Rock. In hindsight, we were not given sound advice by the broker who recommended us to Northern Rock at the time we took out the mortgage. And it didn't help we were so ignorant and did not fully understand what we were signing up for. Our credit history was good and we have never fallen behind their repayments during the whole time of our mortgage with them. And for a long time, we were completely stuck and didnt know how to get out of their trap. While it was fairly easy for us to get through on their Customer Services line and the staff we spoke to were very polite, it is their business model that is an absolute disgrace. We were stuck on Interest Only mortgage for years and due to change in my husbands work circumstances, it was very difficult to switch to another lender on my income alone. Due to the interest rate rises, it didn't help, as Landmark Mortgages interest rates are extortionate. It got to the point, where our repayments had almost doubled up, in a space of a year. We were truly scared of losing our home. To keep up with their extortionate interest rates, I was forced to work excessive overtime hours, and a huge chunk of my wages was being swallowed up by Landmark Mortgages.

Thank God, for us, we have now managed to remortgage to another lender and we cant believe the repayments we are being charged by the new lenders, on a Repayment Mortgage, are less than half of what Landmark was charging us on Interest Only mortgage. The day our new mortgage was completed, I cancelled the Direct Debit for Landmark Mortgages. And they had the cheek to write to us about the cancellation of the Direct Debit. We thought, mmmhhh!!! You are not going to continue to milk us the way you have been doing all these years. We have had enough of this scam mortgage and you will miss our easy money you were getting.

I keep wondering how businesses like them are said to be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. How on earth does such a company whose business model is set to rob thousands of families of such a vital necessity as housing, be authorised by a regulatory body, the Financial Conduct Authority. I do not understand. Where is the integrity in this this? What happened to compassion for those trapped in their wings??

We truly thank God that we plucked our house out of Landmark Mortgages' grip. There are so many thousands of families out there who are still trapped under the punitive reign of these scammers and have got no way out.

They took over my mortgage from Northern Rock I always found them helpful and understanding.

It was just the interest rates that were ridiculously high and the charges they put on your account for no reason

Olympic level shambles.

Almost impossible to get through on the phone to customer services for one query, and also the correct department to make a lump sum payment. Took me 4 (yes,4) days to get the business done.
Also, online portal is worse than useless. It will never let me make a regular payment/lump sum payment/overpayment. Tells me "transaction cannot be completed online, please phone 0330..... to speak to an advisor. Which you do, then that's you back into the cycle of being cut off, or having no one answer the phone. Absolutely shambolic state of affairs from them.

I found Landmark very helpful

I found Landmark very helpful. They took over my mortgage when Northern Rock went belly-up, honoured the agreement that I'd had with NR for the full term and basically treated me well.
