Grillstream BBQ

I bought a Leisuregrow Stream Grill BBQ from John Lewis.
A couple of weeks ago, during a routine barbecue, the unit suddenly and uncontrollably caught fire. Flames erupted beneath the grill, setting nearby materials alight—including the charcoal and, most alarmingly, the connected gas bottle. I managed to extinguish the fire only through considerable effort and sheer luck. Had I failed, the outcome could have been catastrophic: severe harm to myself and my property, as well as a serious risk to my neighbours and anyone nearby.

This incident was not only completely unacceptable but also extremely distressing.

When I reached out to customer service, they immediately refused to accept any responsibility and instead placed the blame on us, alleging incorrect usage.

You continue to state that flammable materials must not be placed within 60cm of the grill. Yet the hose you provided to connect the gas cylinder to the barbecue measures only around 50cm. This is a direct contradiction in your own safety requirements.

It is clear that instead of addressing the core issue, you are attempting to shift the blame onto the customer. The real and critical problem here is the leak inside the barbecue, which allows gas and grease to accumulate in the cabinet. This inevitably causes ignition, regardless of what is stored there. Even if I left only a pair of barbecue gloves inside, they would catch fire. And even if the cabinet were completely empty, am I really expected to clean leaking grease from inside the cabinet after every use on a barbecue that cost £518? That is unacceptable by any standard.

Furthermore, your approach of blaming the customer without properly understanding the actual defect in the product is extremely concerning. Once again, let me be absolutely clear: the issue is the leak within the barbecue itself. That is your responsibility as the manufacturer, not mine as the customer.

I trust this time the seriousness of the matter is understood.

Safety is our top priority, and we want to clarify that the Grillstream BBQ includes clear instructions both in the manual and on the product itself:

• A label on the base panel shows that gas cylinders must not be stored inside the cabinet.

• The manual warns against placing flammable materials within 60cm, storing anything flammable under the grill, and placing the hose near heated surfaces.

• It also emphasizes that gas cylinders must be stored externally in a well-ventilated area, and that users must regularly check for gas leaks.

Storing a gas bottle or flammable materials (such as charcoal) under the grill during use creates a serious risk. If a leak occurs inside the enclosed cabinet, it can ignite. If stored externally as instructed, any gas would dissipate safely. Which having reviewed the correspondence received is where you have stored the fuel.

While we understand your concern, the issue appears consistent with incorrect usage as outlined above and confirmed within your correspondence received.

Replacement side burner lid - prompt as you like

Burnt our side burner lid beyond repair. Was directed to David at Leisuregrow via John Lewis where we purchased the Grillstream BBQ. Absolutely brilliant to deal with and sent out a replacement lid with free delivery, arrived within two days. Great guy, great company.

Unbelievable experience. I bought a simple dog toy, supplied a video showing the defect, and provided proof of purchase — only for the manufacturer to tell me to take it back to the retailer. Asking for evidence just to fob me off is ridiculous and shows zero accountability. This isn’t rocket science; it’s a faulty product, and they are refusing to take responsibility. Extremely inconvenient and frustrating. Avoid this company if you value your time and sanity.

Update: LeisureGrow is now requesting a picture of the toy, despite me already providing a video and proof of purchase. Still no resolution.()

I have a Leisuregrow rattan Saigon…

I have a Leisuregrow rattan Saigon Weave garden dining set. I needed 2 spare parts for my "lazy Susan", which I somehow mislaid. I contacted Leisuregrow directly to see if they could help.
They obliged and are sending me the two parts I need in the post. They were more than helpful, and very swift with my request. FANTASTIC customer service!! Also....my garden dining set is now over 10 yrs old and STILL looks like new! A testament to the high quality that Leisure grow provide. Buy with confidence!
Would definately reccomend this company!

Great service when I had a fault

When I had a faulty timer/plug, they replaced it very quickly and communication was great.
The lights are perfect and the timer makes them efficient and effortless.

Superb customer support

I purchased one of their gazebos some years ago, unfortunately some damage occurred to one of the metal parts. I contacted customer support to find out whether spare parts were available. Without any fuss a replacement part was said to be available and was couriered free of charge. This is superb customer support and I would recommend this company.

Great product support

We bought a Grillstream gas BBQ from our local John Lewis about 6 years ago, and it's been superb.
Recently went to clean down in preparation for a coming event, and one of the burners failed to light.
I had no clue where the manual was, and John Lewis closed about 3 years ago.
Some digging around online led me to Leisuregrow as a main dealer of Grillstream.
Despite me sending an initial email fairly late evening, and having received an auto reply advising that there might be a short delay in response sure to the seasonal demands (understandable), I got an email back almost straight away asking for more details.
This was followed up next day by a further email with some advice and a troubleshooting guide.
Happy to say we were able to rectify the problem pretty quickly by following the guide.
Saved us a small fortune by not having to call someone out, leading to a very stress free solution.
Great job (considering I didn't purchase from them), thoroughly recommend this team.

I bought a dog toy which had some stitching loose and it therefore fell apart very quickly. I no longer had my receipt as we had had a collection before I gave it to my dog. The team were very good, and were able to see I had made a transaction on the day I bought it, from the place I bought it, and with good will replaced the toy which my dog is no enjoying!

Fantastic after sales service

I bought an LG garden furniture set over 3 years ago and the plastic parasol collar that fits into the table has broken, it had gone brittle. I contacted LG ready to ask if I could buy a spare part and spoke with Trudie who explained they had changed from plastic to metal collars. Before I could even ask if I could buy one, Trudie offered to send me one free of charge. How good is that! Great service which matches the great product I purchased 3+ years ago 😊

First Class Customer Service

Great customer service from this company over a problem with a BBQ cover. Answered the phone promptly (that's a result these days), ascertained the problem and very quickly sent out a replacement cover. If only all customer service desks were like this one!

Replacement parts

Purchased a Barcelona corner suite and a set of recliners and very happy with purchase and quality. The furniture was kept in storage until patio was completed. One of the chairs had an adjustable screw on the bottom missing so l emailed Leisuregrow , within a few minutes they had replied and asked for a little information as proof of purchase. A few days later l received 2x screws and bases. Very professional. Thanks

Grillstream Legacy 4 handle

I purchased a Grillstream Legacy 4 Burner Hybrid last year and have been really happy with it. However, in recent strong winds, it has blown over (I think aided by the cover which acted like a sail!!) and broken the handle on the main lid in such a way that it couldnt be repaired. I couldnt find a replacement online so emailed Leisuregrow asking how I could buy one. James P in Customer Service responded immediately, offering to send one free of charge. This arrived within a few days and fitted without a problem so it now looks as good as new. Cant asked for better customer service than that!! Would definitely recommend based on the product and customer service

Replacement pads - garden chair leg

Thanks to a bit of rough handling I lost one of the rubber pads on the foot of my garden chair. I contacted Leisuregrow to find out where I could get replacements. Not only did the respond promptly, they sent me replacements free of charge. Exceeded my expectations in every way

Fabulous Service

I recently bought a dog cooling coat from Argos and it was too small. Unfortunately Argos did not believe that these coats come “wet” in the packaging and would not refund my money b

I wrote to Leisuregrow for them to confirm that the coats are wet They replied very quickly

Once they found out that I would be out of pocket they have offered to send me two coats free of charge .

What wonderful service

I requested touch up paint for mt…

I requested touch up paint for my garden furniture. Although I couldn't find the receipt,some 5 or 6 years since purchase, after supplying a picture they were able to meet my request. From initial enquiry to receiving my paint - less than one week!
Completely happy with service received at NO CHARGE, not even postage.
Wonderful.
