Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 51 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently encountered chaotic and unhelpful customer service, often finding it difficult to reach a human and noting a lack of responsibility for issues. Many also reported significant problems with the vehicles themselves, including faulty products, unexpected breakdowns, and safety concerns. Reviewers were often frustrated by unjustified charges for excess mileage, non-existent damages, or various administrative fees and errors. However, some customers also noted positive experiences. A few people found the customer service friendly and helpful, with some reporting no issues during their lease and willingness to use the company again.

I’m just entering into an agreement…

I’m just entering into an agreement with Lex Autolease and am a little puzzled and in someways concerned about some reviews. I’ve had no problems whatsoever, in fact only one issue raised and that was my fault. Between the broker, who was excellent, and Lex it was quickly sorted. Have yet to take delivery of the car and reach the point of handing it back but experience to date has been faultless.

Will not engage to resolve significant safety concerns on a leased vehicle

Unhelpful at best if you experience any issues!

Leased a Volvo EX30 via Lex Auto Lease that has a recall owing to potential fire risk with a battery, compounded by doors that are prone to locking without the option to manually override, presenting significant safety concerns that Lex Auto Lease will not engage in to resolve, despite numerous attempts to contact them.

0/10, do not recommend. Terrible service.

Shocking customer service

Shocking customer service, been complaining about a vehicle Volvo ex30 which is now officially a fire risk!! And can only charge to 70%, Emails and phone calls to them still no resolve just keep saying they are looking into it, how can you let customers drive a dangerous car, never use again. Now going legal on them as they have breached their contract.

Lex Autolease closed a safety complaint despite independent evidence of a dangerous defect

I have been leasing a vehicle through Lex Autolease for 20 months. Their handling of a serious safety issue has been negligent, dismissive, and deeply concerning.

Within months of receiving the vehicle, during winter 2024/25, the interior of the car began freezing in cold weather. The inside of the windscreen and panoramic roof ice over, requiring ice to be scraped from inside the vehicle, while condensation drips into the cabin. The car also steams up uncontrollably during normal driving, severely restricting visibility.

This is a clear safety risk.

A Volvo main dealer inspected the car in January 2025 but tested it indoors in warmer conditions, despite video evidence showing internal icing in real-world temperatures.

In January 2026, Lex Autolease arranged an independent inspection by DEKRA. Their written report confirms:
• The windows steam up constantly
• The rear screen is coated in condensation
• The engineer observed abnormal steaming during a test drive
• Video evidence of the interior windscreen and panoramic roof being frozen was reviewed
• The engineer states this behaviour is usually a sign of water ingress
• Further workshop investigation (including partial interior stripping and water testing) is required

Despite this independent confirmation of abnormal, safety-critical symptoms, Lex Autolease closed my complaint on the basis that the “root cause” was not identified.

In other words, Lex accept the symptoms exist — and still chose to walk away.

Over 20 months I have been forced to run the heater constantly just to maintain visibility, increasing charging costs by an estimated 30–40%, costing me thousands. Lex refused to discuss this by phone and showed no interest in safety, cost, or duty of care.

I am now being forced to escalate this to the Ombudsman because Lex Autolease appear unwilling to take responsibility for an obviously unsafe vehicle.

Closing a safety complaint because a defect is difficult to diagnose is unacceptable.
Ignoring independent evidence of a dangerous condition is reckless.

Avoid this company.

Trying to return a lease car

Trying to return a lease car. Been trying since Dec 20th. Now had 2 failed pickups. First time they didnt bother turning up, second time apparently there is nick in the tyre and although it passed its MOT they refused to take it and just left. Been on hold for 22 mins so far trying to get through to them. I have had a complaint lodged since Dec 20th and it still has not been assigned to anyone. Meanwhile they continue to take out a monthly lease fee and want to charge me for failed collections...its a joke...AVOID

How do these people actually stay in…

How do these people actually stay in business. Trying to submit an application, the site crashes saying an unknown error - try again. Tried again - same issue. If customers cant apply, it must be quite difficult to sell finance - Obviously, no Customer Service in sight or contactable by any means. Update - Managed to work out the issue after liasing with Tesla. For anyone having this issue - if your company name is in the address (which it often is as it pulls the address from a database), then it will fail, but you will not be told why it has failed. Something that should take 5 mins ended up taking around 2 hours.

A good experience from start to finish

I have just returned my vehicle after a three year lease - during that time Lex Autolease have been good at answering any queries I had. I was dreading returning my vehicle reading all the negative reviews but needn’t have worried. I knew my mileage was over the stated limit of my contract and Lex had warned me of the fact I would incur a charge for this numerous times. I was fine paying this as I had gone over the limit!
I did pay to have three of my alloys sorted out before return as I had damaged them, beyond normal wear and tear.
The man who came to collect the vehicle was friendly and checked my vehicle over and said it was fine and he was happy. There were a couple of small scuffs, a really tiny dint, some wear on the tyres - but they were legal and I had had them checked before return - so small amounts of wear and tear on the car but no real damage. I have incurred no extra charges, apart from mileage, and I am very happy with my experience. Thank you Lex Autolease. If I leased another car would use Lex Autolease again.

Incorrect PCN fine.

Lex Autolease received a PCN from a leading car park provider stating I did not pay for parking.

I did pay for parking and it was an error. Instead of advising me about the PCN and allowing me the 2 weeks to appeal the fine, Lex paid it.

They then added a £30 admin charge meaning I have to pay £90 for an incorrect PCN.

Really poor….

57 days to complete repairs

57 days to complete straight forward repairs on a commercial vehicle, leaving us van less for much of that time, impacting our customers, service and income.
Lex Autolease couldn't have been more unhelpful or uncaring, all they want is to charge you for every little thing.

Sadly I can't give anything lower than 1 star.

I haven't even got the car yet, and as Tesla pushed us through to Lex to sort the deal, chaotic and unprofessional would be an understatement.

I've never experience a company so disorganised, slow at responding, and then asking a customer to try and resolve issues at their end relating to references and codes.

I'm not sure any car is worth dealing with Lex.

Avoid at all costs.

Blatantly unhelpful.

My wife was named customer for 8 years. Vehicle due to be returned and collected day before we were emigrating. On the day we got an email from the collector saying they were coming five days later. Took about 50 minutes and numerous calls to get through - then were told Lex would do absolutely nothing about it. Nothing. They left us high and dry trying to sort out THEIR problem. They blamed the collector and blatantly refused to accept any responsibility or duty of care. Avoid like the plague. That's what you get for getting charged an extra £50 a month for a contract extension on an 8 year old lease car.

Broken down car, refusal to supply courtesy car

My car from Lex with less than 20,000 miles has broken down. They came to take the car for repair but say I'm only entitled to 48hours of a hire car. They refused to organise the car unless I rang back their premium line. When I asked what I do for getting to work after 48hours, the woman from lex told me that wasn't her problem. Im now left paying for a car that I don't have with no replacement. No public transport options so dont know how I'm going to work or get anywhere until my car is repaired. Very disappointing service from a company who obviously dont care about their customers.

I went through UK Car Line Ltd to lease my new car and LEX AUTOLEASE were the underwritersm for the vehicle. Not only was the initial information provided promptly, but followng my credit check they actually reduced my quote, meaning I'm paying less! The follow up service has been good so far and I am due to get the car in a few weeks so we'll see how ongoing support pans out - for the moment I am a happy customer of both companies!
