Evaluating 1,112 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found customer service poor, describing staff as rude, unhelpful, and needing training, with online support also being dire. Reviewers frequently reported rising prices, overcharging, and discrepancies between advertised and actual till prices. Product quality was a significant concern, especially for fresh produce and meat, with reports of mouldy items, spoilage, and poor taste. Lidl and visual impairment

Being visually impaired I was annoyed with the indifference shown by the Lidl store manager when I complained that the displayed price was not obviously clear that it applied to those with the Lidl + card, as the labelling is too small.

NEW POINTS REWARDS ARE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING

Extremely disappointed with the new points reward system. It has totally devalued the rewards. Lidl was always my first choice because of its unique rewards. It is now on par with Tesco and Sainsbury’s, who offer better special offers and more things that can be done with your points. When in store, I have heard a lot of moans from fellow shoppers. Sorry Lidl, you have lost a loyal customer. Bring back the old system please.

I was a big Lidl fan

I was a big Lidl fan. Lived in Germany for years and 9 times out of 10 did my shopping there. I've been to Brid Lidl 3 times in two weeks. The staff are unsmiling, unhelpful and frankly off-hand. One called me 'buddy' so many times I had to stop him. It was sooooo patronising and insincere. One lady cashier told me off almost for not presenting my app quickly enough. Awful attitude.
I went to Aldi on Friday night. Staff chatty and agreeable.
I'm finished with Lidl Bridlington.
Customers HAVE alternatives. Shops would do well to remember that.

The entire store was in complete…

The entire store was in complete dissaray. Every item I picked up off the shelves/fridges were already opened and going mouldy. There was a box of watermelons in an aisle with a watermelon smashed up and dripping guts all over the other melons, liquid all over the floor too. When I told a member of staff I looked to my left and saw no less than 7 boxes of frozen items ripped open and spilling out just on one shelf in one freezer. Half of the cereal boxes ripped open. There was a raw whole chicken put on top of the bags under the conveyor belt too.

These were all things at the front of the shelves in clear view. Everywhere I looked was damaged food and packaging so there’s absolutely no way in hell that none of the staff saw any of it.

Last week I picked up a packet of pre sliced cheese and they were green and mouldy because the packaging had been opened, I gave it to a member of staff and didn’t think much more of it but after shopping there again today I realise that that’s just normal for this particular store.

I’m surprised people aren’t getting ill from eating food from here. I’ve never been in such an unsanitary and poorly run store before.

Should be boycotted

The Lidl in Boscombe has been getting worse and worse.

They've removed 2 checkout tills (which hardly ever had staff on them anyway! - Very rarely staff are on the tills here at all), and have filled the area with self service stations. Whoever came up with the design should be hung, as it's like a maze. The machines are very loud and are using facial recognition technology I do not consent to.
You cannot exit the store without scanning your receipt, which is not only close to imprisonment and making you feel like a criminal, but also kind of forcing you to buy something to get out. This is absolutely disgusting behaviour treating customers this way, and I don't know how they've been allowed to do this. Lets hope there's never a fire in there as you'd never get out.

I shall not be using them anymore if I can help it and they should be boycotted for this.

Lidl Plus Points Con

FFS - I use my newly gained points to exchange for free packs of 150g Raspberries and 400g Strawberries. It gets scanned at the till it doesn't come off my bill and when I query it I get told its for different products... Different 150g raspberries and different 400g strawberries that they don't sell!!!

I have 25 days left to use my exchanged points to buy products they don't stock. Well done Lidl, you've found a new way to upset people

Awful experience at your branch in…

Awful experience at your branch in Hoxton. N1.
I’m a regular customer of yours, I have been for decades. Today I went to your branch in Hoxton N1, and at till point I realised I had one wrong item. I contacted the person at check out and I asked if I could go and get the correct one. When I came back I noticed that she had scanned the plastic bags for me.
Definitely not a kind gesture since all the rest of the shopping was still there.
I found this act extremely disrespectful, I’m a regular and I regularly pay for bags, i dont need anyone scanning them for me. I’m not a thief but I’ve been treated like one. She blamed her manager stating they wanted so. I feel mistreated and accused of wanting to take a shopping bag without paying, I feel extremely offended. Obviously I’m never going to come back to Lidl again and I make sure everyone around me knows your disgraceful level customer service .

Reputation of the company is in the hands of the individuals.. be careful who you employe.

Lidls can & bottle recycling fiasco

Recycle Scheme in Glasgow

There seems to be an Area Manager going around the Glasgow store telling staff only to accept one voucher per customer going through the checkout

This is in total opposition to Lidls own website saying that as many voucher from the recycling machine can be used at point of sale

This Manager is not taking into the equation how many times the machine fail & staff have to reset .
This automatically means you have more than one voucher which they are saying they will not accept

Also Lidls website says I should be able to scan my Lidl Card and accumulate all money against my Lidl app there is no information on the recycle machine on how to carry out this procedure.

The only display on the recycle Machine is for paper receipt or charity donation , nowhere does it inform you to scan your Lidl app card .

Surely this would be more efficient & greener not giving out paper receipts allowing as you suggest accumulating on their card by scanning at these machines on the app, also making it easier on staff at the checkout

It is a terrible shop

It is a terrible shop. Very intimidating. The queues are always long. A staff member said he doesn’t call people forward as it is self service so they need to do this themselves. I pointed out that you can’t see the checkouts from the queue. I am 68 and would be frightened to go in there again. It is so aggressive.

Great prices & excellent staff

Great prices & excellent staff

We love Lidl, it's our supermarket of choice & this is a great store.....

This would be a 5* review if not for a few little niggles which are down to issues nationally not at this store....

The first is that Lidl has a habit (not talking middle of Lidl or specials) where you will get a product, love it, keep buying it & then it stops being sold & you never see it again...staff try to help but they have no actual control over what is delivered to the stores....we have had this from thins as diverse as Ice Cream to Cat Food.

The second niggle which is usually resolved through help or instore is some of the fresh produce....I love grapes, always buy seedless, but on at least 4 occasions the Lidl seedless grapes have had seeds......also some things may not have a very long shelf life......we have even occasionally seen rotten oranges on display.

The final niggle & pet hate is the rise of self service checkouts.....wee hate them !! The result is longer queues at the manned checkouts as they open less....I still have the attitude that the price of the goods includes the costs of the staff.....I'm not a Lidl employee, there isn't a lower price for self checkout......so why would I do something I've paid for someone to do for me.

The main bonus apart from prices is the staff.....they are excellent, always a smile no matter how busy they are......

Rude staff snatching things from my hands

I am incredibly disappointed with the customer service at 1, NORTHGATE CENTRE, Heckmondwike WF16 9RL. On 8 Jun at around 11am, I used one of the manned tills and encountered a female staff member named Sophie who was outright hostile. While I was checking out, she literally snatched a loaf of bread right out of my hand. She consistently has a stern, aggressive attitude towards customers, but physical aggression like snatching items is completely unacceptable. This is unprofessional behavior that needs to be addressed by management.
