The 3 main actors (David Harewood as Othello, Caitlin Fitzgerald as Desdemona and Toby Jones as Iago) are excellent but the malevolent Iago drives the story along. Spoiler: it might be Christmas but it’s not a happy ending.

I found the production engaging and liked the blend of contemporary style and the context of the time of the play. I enjoyed the performances of the actors and thought they all brought their own flair to the characters and I especially liked Toby Jones interpretation of Iago.

Othello was excellent. My daughter is studying it for her A Levels and so we wanted to see it. The actors were fantastic, they really gave their all in the performance. The theatre itself was beautiful, the decor and the seats were very comfortable. It was very easy to exit the theatre after the show.

A brilliant production with extraordinarily powerful performances by David Harewood and Caitlin Fitzgerald. Shakespeare continues to be 'of the moment' touching on racism and mental health issues; extraordinary. The Theatre Royal is a great place to see the play - not too large so you feel part of the action.

We were expecting a performance that would explain a little the motivations in the play but this was not what happened. It was a far less interesting production than it should have been.
