I have ordered two books so far! Excellent!
I have ordered two books so far. I love how easy it is to order and I loveee the feature where it’s like canva and I can organize my PNG art pieces from procreate into an already sized book. I love it since I don’t have Adobe products so I wouldn’t know how to format my cover. But Lulu makes it easy to format! I also adore all the previews it gives so you know how your book will look and how the inside will look before ordering. The quality is also so nice! The colors come out vibrant and the paper is beautifully sound. I’ve already recommended Lulu to my writers club! The only issue is that I couldn’t find anything on how to size my book properly and I can’t see any of the other steps until I put in a correctly formatted PDF. Thankfully I found Reedsy another site to format my book. But if Lulu could put somewhere how to format your book using Google Docs or Word and how to get the bleeds right, that would be helpful.

Great, quality, and efficiency !
I thought the quality of the books were exceptional!! The response when I needed assistance was very timely and efficient. I truly appreciate all the help , advice through the resources given from thoes emails. I really appreciate this platform. The only thing is when I ordered my first copies I thought that was the proof copy and I would only need to pay the distribution fee after when I apply for global distribution.

The global distribution fee is applied when creators select the global distribution retail option during the start step of their project setup and publish with that option. After the project is published with global distribution, you have the opportunity to pay the distribution review fee and order your proof copy simultaneously. Creators also have the option to revise their project at any time and add global distribution later if it was not selected initially.

First-timer.
The first-time experience I had with Lulu was exciting as I produced two soft-cover books. I give four stars because I had some difficulty working through some of the steps and would really have liked a direct-line help team. I have one other venture to put into words and will use Lulu fearlessly again.

Getting help is next to impossible.
Lulu's linen hardcover is a joke.
I would advise others to buy a paperback or nothing.
Sending notice that a product is in the mail, but is really in a bin, and not with the carrier, is like the last straw. In my opinion you need to develop a better method for creating covers, and you need to review them before printing garbage. All that said your prices are good, so I will probably be back again.

I reviewed our system, and I was able to see that you worked with one of our support agents to help resolve your issue and arrange a replacement order.
As a creator-controlled publishing platform, Lulu provides the tools and guidance needed to publish and order books, but design and file preparation are managed by the creator. Our support team can help explain the process and review questions, but we are not able to directly modify or create project files on behalf of authors.
Regarding shipping notifications, when an order is packed at one of our printing facilities, a shipping label is automatically generated through our system. This triggers an email notification, even though the carrier may not yet have picked up the package. Tracking information may not update until the carrier scans the package, which can take approximately 24–48 hours after pickup.

I sent Lulu a completed book and what followed was one of the worst publishing experiences I’ve ever had.
I was told to “reformat” my file but given no clear, usable instructions on what that actually required. That began a long email loop – around nine messages – where they kept sending files back for me to upload. Every time the upload failed. No proper explanation. No real solution. Just another delay.
I ordered printed proofs several times. None ever arrived.
In the end I cancelled the project – not because the book wasn’t ready, but because the system simply does not work if anything goes wrong.
The real problem is this: there is no way to speak to a human being.
No phone support.
No live help.
Everything happens through slow emails that take days between replies while your project is stuck.
For a service aimed at independent authors this is completely impractical. Not everyone is an IT specialist.
How is an older author supposed to get through this?
How is someone disabled meant to deal with repeated technical failures?
How does anyone who isn’t highly computer-literate publish a book here?
Publishing should be a creative milestone. This turned into a technical endurance test.
This didn’t just fail to deliver a book – it ruined the entire experience.
I have now taken my work elsewhere.
Independent authors need real support from real humans. Without that, this platform is simply not fit for purpose.
