Awful restaurant service with rude…

Awful restaurant service with rude staff

We decided to spend that little bit more for an overnight stay, to celebrate my birthday, including a room upgrade, 3 course evening meal, drinks and breakfast, and on arrival were pleased with our choice, due to the location and the look of the hotel.

Unfortunately, that all changed once we entered the restaurant for our evening meal. To cut a long story short the waiting staff are rude and the table service is non-existant!

If you are looking for a boutique hotel for a special occassion and are happy to have the restaurant staff ignore you for drinks, meaning you have to fetch your own drinks from the bar AND then argue with you when they do speak to you, then go ahead book Malmaison. You wont be dissappointed and it will be a birthday to remember!

Thank you Malmaison x

Terrible check in last weekend

Terrible check in last weekend. Positive experience after that and the room was fine for a short break - just the reception staff need to have a better attitude (especially after a long drive)

lovely stay

I had my apartment renovated and as its close to my home stayed here for a week. I loved it. Wish I could afford to stay in a hotel all the time (and be waited upon too LOL). Bed was comfy, TV worked perfectly with all the channels you could think of and food was always tasty and service great. Only reason why it doesn't get my 5 stars is because the internet was patchy at times and this is important to me.

Discourteous and they tried to over charge me several times

Mal Maison, Birmingham is the polar opposite to their sister hotel Hotel du Vin, Birmingham. The room was fine but the bar staff and brasserie staff were unattentive and rude. They had the wrong prices printed on the menus and tried to argue me down when I questioned them on it, I declined to pay them the service charge put on the bill for the meal (as frankly I would have been better off getting the food myself from the kitchen) and when checking out the next day I found they have put the charge back on my bill. The food was poor, nothing like Hotel du Vin and I would never go back to Mal Maison. Over-rated place severely under performing.
