Masthaven - do not approach.
For a company that deals with people's hars earned money, the employees at this company exist with one sole purpose - to remind you that you owe them money. My interaction with this company was, to say the least, the worst experience I have ever had with a financial institution. They do not seem to familiarise themselves with the customers product. They are cold, heartless, inconsiderate, lacking compassion and I can go as far as describing them as unprofessional. My advice, if you alie your sanity - stay away from this company. I'll would need ro freeze over , before I recommend this company.
If it was possible to give 0
If it was possible to give 0, I would. Their terms and conditions were extremely vague with lots of hidden charges. They come across. Ore as loan sharks rather than a genuine lending institution. I had to de line their loan offer as it is not a safe organisation to borrow from.
Complete deadbeat outfit.
I gave them one star because the system wouldn't allow me to give them a zero rating, and they're not even THAT good.
Offered a bridging loan by these amateurs, and after having a valuation and paying a deposit towards their legal fees, I was asked to provide numerous pieces of information, much of it irrelevant to the loan. Why didn't they give me a checklist of items that they'd require before fleecing me of my money? Avoid like the plague, they'll over-promise and under-deliver.
Waste of time and money…
Was given advice from our broker about using Masthaven for a bridging loan. Was very sceptical after reading reviews, but was assured everything would go okay. We bent over backwards and did everything they asked us to do with getting surveys etc to be let down after 4 months. Was very disappointed a would never recommend anyone to use them. In fact I wouldn't even give them one star. By the way they are not doing bridging loans so don't bother looking at them
This is the worst company ever
This is the worst company ever, unhelpful, incompetent staff. They kept us hanging on and started asking daft questions almost like what colour my partners favourite underwear was and my favourite socks, even worse wanted personal details about my accountant!!!!! They only deserve -20 stars. They also took the survey fee on almost £600.00 up front a d no survey after nearly 3 months was arranged. Thankfully I had a massive row with what seemed like a child and did get my money back. Please please don't have anything to do with this complete bunch of cowboys. I'm very surprised that the FCA hasn't shut them down. AVOID.
Proof of identification…
I was asked for proof of identification so, after a phone conversation assuring me that whatever I sent would be returned after a couple of days, I sent my driving licence by recorded mail. It took many phone calls before I got my driving licence back, 6 weeks after I sent it.

Legals were tortuous
Masthaven were all good for the bridging loan we used them for. The terms were good and their administration efficient. However, their lawyers Brightstone Law were an absolute pain. They were pedantic, nit-picking and went to a level of enquiry well beyond what was appropriate for a residential property. For example, they insisted on hard copies rather than email of documents from our lawyers as if we were in the 1980s. I have sold and bought a few houses in my time, but this lot made this the most stressful transaction ever.
I couldn't work out if it was because they were using untrained tick-box staff or their anal-retentive actions were driven by a gravy train of fees from their client.

Easy to set up my new fixed term a/c at a great rate of interest.
THEN when I tried to transfer money from my Lloyds a/c my online banking has been suspended as they
do not approve this bank!
Has anybody else had this problem?
Awful company
Awful company. Took 4 months of them asking for the same information over and over, and copies of documents they had already received. Get to the final hurdle and they decline at the last minute. This was from the same bank statements they had seen 4 months before and said everything was fine. Joke of a lenders. Never again !!!!!

Inefficient and inept
In this modern, digital world, it is amazing that an organisation such as Masthaven Bank still exists. We had the frustration of watching their ineptitude from the position of a vendor waiting for our buyer to secure a mortgage from them....and they lived up to their previous feedback. Really poor in terms of time taken to do anything; really poor at committing to when things would happen; really poor at communicating clearly as to what is the next step. We were lucky enough not to lose our onward purchase despite the delays inflicted by the ineptitude and inefficiency of this bank, but there were times when we felt we were being held hostage to their poor service. If you are selling a property and your buyer is getting a mortgage through this bank, I suggest you wait for another buyer - it will be quicker than waiting for the bank to get into gear.

Great service
Have a fixed term savings account with Masthaven. It was easy to set up, interest paid monthly. The great beauty of the bank is that you can choose the exact term you want to invest for in months. This suited me as I the money was available to invest in a December and I wanted it available in April 2022. Fitted the bill perfectly, and with a decent interest rate (which is set based on a sliding scale depending how long you want to invest for). Wish other banks would take this idea on board
Masthaven HAVE LOST ME 10k, MY FUTURE HOME AND MY CURRENT HOME
Masthaven have lost me a lot of money, since beginning of July you have been dealing with my buyers mortgage. They have done everything you have asked including paying their big tax bill back in November so bringing it down to zero and yet you still have not even got to the valuation/offer stage and they could have had an extra few months grace.
I’m on the verge of losing my house now as I have been waiting and waiting as they keep being told there will be updates.
Your completely incompetent with letting anyone know what’s going on. We were told it was going to be August for completion. What a joke you are.
Thankyou so much Masthaven, I’m losing everything now, Ive lost my house I wanted , I could have taken another buyer had I known this awful wait.
DONT USE

Stress is Masthaven
I totally agree with the reviews on lending, after approximately 450 emails asking stupid questions from totally inexperienced staff, finally obtained loan.
Surveyors report not worth a penny - hundred years out on build date, could not tell wood from plastic and the potting shed was identified as a garden room.
The threatening computer lead letters come early, and are regular but try getting a letter from a real person impossible.
Delays have cost me in region of £50k now, but the computer does not care.
Communication with solicitors non existent and tend to blame each other for incompetence.
It would have all taken a professional bank manager two hours maximum to regularise the loan, but in this world of poor IT untrained staff do not invest, it is not worth the stress. Felt as though I had been mugged throughout.Would love to meet the other one stars as sounds as though we have all had similar experiences—-I ain’t bothered and I ain’t listening.

Dreadful company one star is way too much!! Disgraceful service, failing to return calls, incredibly slow process.......over 6 mths (even though they suggested 4 to 6 weeks) to do a bridging loan, idiot questions by their incompetent solicitors, weeks in between questions, wanting to know details about things that they had no business asking about in relation to another Ltd Company I am a director of, finally failing to complete after promised completion dates multiple times, costing me much extra charges due to having to extend my previous lending! Please, do yourself a favour ........DON'T USE MASTHAVEN, THEY ARE RUBBISH !!

I honestly wish I could give them -5 applied for a re-mortgage loan for half what the house is actually worth as it stands now, only to be met by constant questioning with no relevance to the re-mortgage loan and ridiculous waiting times for responses to simple yes or no questions. Don’t waste your time people absolute cowboy company who are only interested in stupid amounts of bank statements and what colour underwear you have one.

A sad tale of poor customer service
I wanted to place a substantial investment with Masthaven. Their first step was to lie to me about requiring copies of my bank statements. My email in response was ignored. I emailed again drawing their attention to the lies and lack of response, explaining that the bank had failed to meet my lending criteria and not to bother to contact me as my decision was final.
They telephoned me and then demanded that I should identify myself. On being told that I would only do so if they could identify themselves to me first they eventually admitted they couldn't.
I was advised that they had decided to make my refusal to lend them my money into a complaint, which they would look into. A letter was subsequently received telling me that they had investigated the complaint which they had made against themselves and dismissed it. I have explained that I haven't made a complaint, they have, and it would make more sense for them to write to themselves telling themselves that their own complaint was not upheld by themselves. Yes, I know - bizarre isn't it?
It is easier just to use a proper bank.
Later - I see Masthaven has responded. As a retired bank manager I do know precisely what the requirements are for opening a new account. That is why I was already unimpressed with this so called bank and my view of them is not improved by a reply which is economical with the truth.

Reliable & friendly
Bought 3 years Fixed Term Bond from them on 12/07/2018. They have been great in paying our annual interest on time. Also quick in clearing any doubts and quite friendly too. Have today asked them if we could invest some more money, which we will do in spite of the lowering of interest rates. At least this company is good !
