Overall I rate McGill’s 3 stars as there are many polite bus drivers & the x23 service I usually use is on time besides being too early on a few occasions. However I have a complaint about one... See more

545 bus to Lyle Hill
Caught the 545 bus around 10.30am, at Gourock. Asked the lady driver how to get to Lyle Hill. She was very friendly and helpful and told us when it was the right stop for the french monument and Lyle hill. As we were leaving the bus, she pointed us in the right direction for where we wanted to go.
This is the kind of service that is very much appreciated by passengers and visitors to the area. She is a credit to McGill’s buses. Whilst people are quick to complain, it’s just as easy to pass on a compliment, where due. Thanks again driver, you made our day.

Today I had a lovely a’noon trip from Milngavie to Stirling on the X10 across the stunning Scottish countryside - beautiful!
But coming back, two buses were cancelled or cut short (except to drop off at Balfron) all due to no drivers. Ian Hutchinson was our excellent driver.
Most people stayed in Stirling waiting about 1-1 1/2 hours; but not me I travelled back to Balfron and waited, as did an elderly gentleman, George, from Killearn.
I was delighted when an off-duty lady bus driver (beautiful Jan? - with the lovely smile and manicured nails) passed in her car, realised the bus hadn’t made it and stopped to pick George and myself up and drove us to our bus stops.
I am so grateful to Jan for going the extra mile, beyond the call of duty. Please pass on my grateful thanks to Jan as I was blessed with a lift home. Excellent!
An Abysmal Bus Service
After McGills took over from Arriva Buses, our bus service in and around Paisley has deteriorated substantially. Service routes have been cut, others merged to provide lesser services. Buses do not run to time, some running through early, others running excessively late, while others are cancelled altogether.
Route diversions during road works leave whole neighbourhoods without any services, despite excellent route alternatives being available.
The standards of driving displayed by some of the drivers is diabolical, showing precious little regard for passengers. I am a former PSV bus driver and I find their driving standards abysmal.
McGills Buses must be one of the worst bus service companies in the UK.
Crapest bus company on the road
Crapest bus company on the road. Bus coming on the app usually isca different number that shoes, when it fecodrs to.
Scot rail all the way, cheaper, reliable and rarely cancel. Mcgill cancels at least 2 buses a day that i wait for
Worst bus service I've ever…
Worst bus service I've ever experienced. Even worse than the joke that was First Bus. Buses either leave too early or arrive too late there is no in between. If it is early, don't bother running for it because the driver will see you running and try and get away faster. This company obviously employs individuals that were either severely bullied at school or they go home every night and get battered off their wives. Absolute joke of a service
I have used the red buses in Edinburgh…
I have used the red buses in Edinburgh very regularly in Edinburgh buses with frequent services and decent departures I have when used are the far superior can’t fault them in the slightest.
In the past I had asked this bunch via email a question in regards to West Lothian last year Deans Road depot and I am still waiting for a response. Also their buses are extremely old, poor quality, breakdowns galore, mould on the roofs. And the Bright Bus Company doesn’t fair much better. It is still operated by this lot. Drivers are not dressed for service and not up to a high standard. They also gave 2 weeks notice prior to departure of West Lothian area and Bright Bus Part Route Airport is a short working of the X24 which they operate now instead of Livingston. Edinburgh buses throughout the Lothians is night and day unlike these.
I don’t expect any response from them as for poor customer service and the management (Sandy and James Easdale) operate the business.
Considerate driver.…
On 27th June '24 I caught the X37 bus from Condorrat to Glasgow. I was pleased to see the driver (Angela) on numerous occasions, wait until the passengers had sat down before continuing the journey. This was so considerate especially for the older & less able passengers. It was very much appreciated. Thankyou Angela. Jayne Innes.
Copy of complaint to McGills
‘I’m a commuter from Stirling to Edinburgh who has just moved over to buses rather than the train to save money. It’s Wednesday 26th June and I’ve been using Midland Bluebird since Monday. In that time, two buses have completely failed to appear and all but one have been late! Buses that have arrived have been old, smelly and in one case contained a shirtless drunk person carrying a can of lager in full view of the driver who went completely unchallenged! A few weeks ago I emailed with a standard query and received no response. This is truly the worst bus service I have encountered in the UK! I could simply return to paying way over the odds for the train but no, why should I? I deserve a reliable bus service. From Monday July 1st, I will be making a record of services I attempt to use that are late or fail to arrive and that contain unchallenged drink/stoned people or are excessively dirty. I will then take this further. ‘
No communication
My daughter left her bag on the 21:15 bus from Braehead to Paisley, No.23p. Left email that night, got no reply, tried calling next day number on website didn’t connect. Not the best customer service.

McGills are such a rubbish company
McGills are such a rubbish company with loads of cancellations and poor drivers. The Managing Director Alex Hornby doesn’t accept any constructive feedback for his company.

Just a quick email to highly commend driver. About 08:30 (Tuesday 11/06/24) I was walking though Inchinnan village (to Renfrew) when an x23 passed me. The next bus stop was about 150 metres away (at church). There was one person at bus stop so I decided to jog to try to catch it (I'm pensioner). The person at bus stop wasn't going on that bus but Driver must have seen me in rear view mirror and waited for me. Also on the journey to Glasgow I was greatly impressed by Driver's attitude to people boarding and leaving the bus. He was so patient and courteous - a perfect gentleman. This driver is a credit to himself and to McGill's buses. I thank him greatly. Kind Regards. RM.
Driving through Glasgow on the M8 today…
Driving through Glasgow on the M8 today to be nearly driven into the central barrier by a McGill's. Ignored my frantic blasts on the horn so had to do an emergency stop before I hit the barrier. Lunatic driver.
Worst bus service I’ve ever known
Buses are always late or not showing up making me late for work and losing money, absolute joke of a bus service
Terrible bus service.
Busses never drive on time and delays or cancellations are not advertised despite having a live bus tracker.
Unclean and poorly kept busses that over charge for the poor service they provide.

Once again the bus doesn't show up on time and when it does come it drives straight past not the first Time won't be the last your service leaves at lot to be desired
We are visitors to Greenock
We are visitors to Greenock. We took a bus on the evening of a bank holiday- the Sunday service applied which Google didn’t recognise. A very helpful man in a wheelchair-a regular mcgills customer- explained this. The driver recognised the other passenger and Literally went out of his way to take him to his stop (not on the Sunday service route) and in the process dropped us much closer to where we wanted to go. Fantastic, on time, and the extra (half) mile.

Got to be the worst bus company in the world buses turn up at the wrong time that’s if a scheduled bus actually turns up at all 3 days in a row had to wait over an hour for a bus one night I even had to walk home they should be stripped of there operating license plus there drivers all need to go on a customer service course rude and couldn’t careless about passengers
