We arrived in Glasgow Central Railway…

We arrived in Glasgow Central Railway this afternoon on our way to the Scottish Islands.

We had to get to Glynhill Hotel, Renfrew, each rail staff we asked were very unsure, the taxi’s quoted £40+ pounds depending on traffic ! We knew we could catch a No.26 bus, when one arrived driven by Sol, who was very polite and very helpful, advising us we couldn’t get on where the bus was and had to go up the hill, turn right then left where we could get on at 3.38. Sol then advised of the best price for two OAP’s travelling together. Once we arrived in Renfrew he was again helpful in advising us when to get off and directions to the hotel.

What a pleasant welcome to Scotland, Sol is a credit to your company, thank you for our experience and please pass on our very best regards to Sol.

Need serious improvement

Services ran in Falkirk have been really poor overall, buses are really unreliable and many drivers don't seem competent, i've had drivers miss my stop frequently for no good reason despite me pressing the button well before the stop. The buses themselves most the time seem like they're about to fall apart as well, the only good things i can say are the new electric buses are nice, the 38 is usually the best running service, most the drivers are friendly and the app is really well made. But otherwise they have been really disappointing and it's annoying that they're the only choice for people in Falkirk travelling by bus.

Public transport.....

If your in Largs with your family and pet dog there is no chance of getting back to Glasgow on their buses...they only allow assistance dogs but you must have all their paper work ....I've never heard such a load of nonsense....you need to look at your terms and conditions....what a joke...😟😟

Such a kind caring driver!

I was getting on the number 2 Forth valley hospital bus with my disabled bus pass, and I didn't realise it had expired in January. I have C-PTSD and GAD, so it can be quite stressful travelling on public transport at the best of times.
I just froze when he said it's out of date, and I felt so embarrassed and panicked, I was about to get off when a lovely lady offered to pay, which I was going to take her details and pay her back, when the driver said as long as I promise to donate to a charity box I could get on.
I had an appointment and I didn't take my bank card with me as I had my bus pass and I was just nipping out for a short while.
I couldn't believe he did that!
What a very kind caring human. It meant so much to me with everything I'm dealing with, so thank you! And I wish there was more people like him in the world.
I have now applied for my new up to date bus pass.
Update: I donated to charity today to return the favour 🙂

Dangerous and rude driver

Dangerous and rude driver. I was on the Glasgow Airport bus and the driver drove at speed over speed bumps on the way into the airport throwing customers including a child off their seats. When he was spoken to there was no apology just a rude outburst. He and this company need to be reported to the police.

Not use to buses, helful drivers.

I drive, so not used to buses.
My review is positive actually, I wish I asked the drivers names.
We rented a home in largs, though only known by the apartment name
Im tying to explain what they look like, what i passed driving , driver listens carefully " oh the balcony flats" dont worry, ill stop for u when I get there.
I looked at mt bank and buses are cheap man, given it was a small 7 min drive
The both drivers were happy to help, friendly and driven well.
Buses were clean to me too-nothing to complain about there.
Buses are not that bad surely.
I didn't take my car, as fancied a cocktail with dinner
Cheesy haha, all in all, mcgills were chills for me.
The, dont worry, " ill stop at the stop for you "
Even asking how you pay these days is alien to me.
So the drivers on the two largs buses , Friday 11th around 300 pm and 645pm was time.

Don’t their advance Ticket esp. 38 to Paisley.

I don’t know why I keep buying their advance ticket. Getting their bus 38 from Union street is like staking a bet. Unless you have a lot of time to waste. They never come. Today between 18:00 to 19:00 i could count two buses each passing for the various numbers but not 38. Waited for exactly one hour before 38 showed up, Even that I had to walk down to the next bus stop as I thought they can ignore we those that usually wait at the main start point and start from the second bus stop on Union street, low and behold the bus showed up at the second stop ignoring those that have been waiting over an your at the first stop. I regret buying advance ticket from them. Don’t buy their ticket in advance they will disappoint you big time!!!

Bus Driver Refused To Let Me On

The 3 going to Neilston Kingston A on 11th March 2026 was supposed to arrive at Haggs Road at around 16:15, now obviously it was late as usual and the bus disappeared off the app. However, these are all common occurances with this crap company so I paid them no mind and waited. A couple minutes later the bus came back on the app and said that it was going to arrive in another 10mins. I waited (ofc it was a bit late again) and it arrived at around 16:30, someone got off the bus and as I was about to get on, the bus driver shook his head at me and slammed the door in my face and drove on. Does this even make sense? What are the point of buses if they won't allow people on? I never knew buses required a reservation nowadays - there were plenty of extra seats, but just not for me apparently. Btw my friend who was waiting a few stops later said she stuck out her hand for the bus, yet the bus driver ignored her and drove on (this is also a common occurance with this company unfortunately, we've both experienced it many times before). Is it acceptable for bus drivers to deny access to people who have waited ages for the bus? Please reflect on the way you run this company, the people you hire to drive (some are rude as heck) and the poor potential passengers (or should I say victims) who have to go through this nonsense everyday. I ended up walking to another bus stop for firstbus instead because even though they're also normally late, at least they allow passengers to get on the bus.
P.S. Why does only one Mcgils 3 come every hour? Absolutely ridiculous. 1 star is too generous, I wish I could give this company 0.

Exceptionally poor customer service and reliability

I have been attempting to resolve ongoing reliability issues with Service 17 directly with McGill’s Buses in Dundee and have been left extremely disappointed, both with the service itself and with the company’s approach to customer concerns.

In written correspondence, I was informed that the service operates “on time exactly 50% of the time,” with delays typically averaging 1–5 minutes, and that this level of variance is considered acceptable.

As a regular, fare-paying passenger, I find it extraordinary that a service being late half of the time is presented as satisfactory performance.

The issue is not isolated traffic disruption; it is persistent unreliability during peak travel times, when commuters rely on the service most.

Even more concerning is the refund policy, which applies only if the last bus of the day fails to operate. In other words, regular peak-time commuters experiencing repeated disruption are effectively excluded from any form of redress.

Attempts to escalate the complaint have been met with repetition of policy explanations and, most recently, silence.
Public transport users understand that occasional delays happen. What is far more frustrating is a company framing 50% punctuality as acceptable while dismissing the cumulative impact on passengers.

A service cannot reasonably describe itself as reliable if it is late half of the time.

I would not recommended them to anyone.

Awful drivers

Awful drivers, speeding, red light jumping, not on time, no customer service relationship building they cant park correctly, like seriously mcgills drivers are parking diagonal instead of pulling in and parking horizontaly. What baffles me is the police just drive past them. Shocking service.
