Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 58 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people frequently experienced buses not turning up or being significantly late, making journeys unreliable and difficult to plan. Customers also reported drivers intentionally driving past stops, even when passengers were waiting or signaling for the bus. A significant number of reviewers encountered rude, unhelpful, or aggressive behavior from drivers. However, some customers also noted positive interactions with drivers, describing them as polite, helpful, and friendly. A few other people also felt that some services were frequent and on time, and found the coaches clean and spacious.

Terribly rude and racist drivers

Terribly rude and racist drivers, after showing my student card the driver wanted to show him Unidays ID, after showing my Unidays ID the driver still had a problem letting me on the bus. Drivers like the one from bus number 17 on 23/05/2023 at 19:35 from Paisley center to QEUH should not be employed! I have never in my life experienced so much racism in Scotland as I did that day.

Appalling service

Appalling service. Timetables are useless since buses come and go whenever they want. It’s disgusting when you think that there are no other way to get to places like Linwood or Bridge of Weir without a bus or car and we end up being late for work or waiting outside in the cold for 40 minutes for a bus that should have been there ages ago! I would give a zero star review if there was an option I swear.

Lost Phone - Traced & Delivered

We left our mobile phone on Bright Bus while on city Tour on Sunday. Was very worried. But after speaking to Lorna Horsburgh, she made me very calm and tried her best to find the phone, finally got the phone also delivered. What a great commitment to customer service. Hats off.. Will come back again to ride the Bright Bus.

I am a tourist visiting Scotland my…

I am a tourist visiting Scotland my wife and myself boarded the 906 bus from Greenock to Largs day trip. I asked for a return ticket, the driver said there was no return tickets and I would have to buy singles £7.50 each of us. At the next stop a passenger got on and asked for a day saver ticket to Largs £5.50 all day trips. I rang customer services to report this fare issue, I was told driver should have offered the cheapest fare and incident would be reported to the depot manager and I would recieve a refund. On leaving the bus I told the driver that I should have been offered the saver rate he said I didn't ask for it. I requested a return which is not available and I had agreed the single fare, he also said he was a new driver and didn't know the fares. I rang customer services to explain drivers attitude and his lack of knowledge and the fact he was very happy to argue with me in front of other passengers, customer service told me it is the passengers responsibility to know what fare to ask for. I challenged agent on how many fares there was she did not know the answer. I will await final outcome, amazing you can drive a bus and not know what the fares are.

Terrible service and customer service

I have been getting McGills buses between Barrhead, Paisley, and Neilston for 5 years as it is the only service available. During those five years buses have been constantly cancelled with no warning or information ( even through their app, which will tell you a bus is there and all of a sudden disappear), they are highly unhygienic with multiple instances of bodily fluids in the isle and chairs that look like they haven't been hoovered/deep cleaned in months, and 90% of the drivers have disgusting attitudes and horrible customer service skills, consistently starting arguments with customers or shouting profanity at other road users. You won't get any help from their complaints team either, who only justify and make excuses for the service or drivers behaviours, whilst making no attempt to apologise. The entire service is highly unprofessional and a prime example of how the majority of modern day businesses are run, with the only concern of CEOs being how they can maximise their own and shareholder's profit. They do a charity event here and there though and plaster that all over social media, so they must be a fantasy company, right?

FROM A BAD COMPANY TO EVEN WORSE

Already cut the bus times in Kilbarchan to the bare minimum, was waiting in Kilbarchan on a bus today to Glasgow the number 38 at 14.37pm should have arrived. It passed me on its way into Kilbarchan, turned around and then just switched to "Out of Service" so that was me late for work AGAIN because of this company. Honestly better with the train, and look how bad the trains are lol. Buses are always dirty with litter and empty cans rolling about your feet, 3 buses going to one place arrive at same time after youve been waiting for 1 for an hour. Ive even have driver just drive straight past me even when they can see me flagging them down. Who ever runs this company should never be in management.

Poor service - cancellations and no info

Awful service yet again - 2 busses in a row (at least) cancelled on Tullibody to Stirling route middle of the day. No notice and person on helpline didn’t have any useful information. Nothing on website and travel line scotland couldn’t advise either.
