Repeated Failure to Action Subject Access Requests and Ongoing Non-Compliance

Been trying to get hold of correct medical records since summer. They have failed to respond to communication for a number of months. After responding with the incorrect details asked for, trying to raise complaints and trying to get them to supply correct documents asked for they have continued to ignore requests. They have lied to my GP surgery that they had issued the correct details they hadn’t. My GP surgery wrote back to them in November and they failed to reply and proceeded to refer me back to my GP surgery. Totally unacceptable when I need my records that I have requested. My GP has access to what I have access to and this isn’t sufficient for what I need or able to obtain. This has been going off since August 2025, we are now in April.

For business, not for You.

2 months on, still no closer to a resolution. The insurance company relationship with Medi2data works perfectly for their business model of delay delay delay. Medi2data’s detached impersonal reports present the insurer with the gift of being able to go back and ask another question, thus delaying any payout. Inevitably a % of claimants will give up (or die?) prior to a resolution. I have been in limbo for 5 months now on what (GP opinion) is a clear cut case.

Absolutely horrendous!

Absolutely horrendous!
The link doesn’t work most of the time to get to my record.
Waited for this for months.
They are missing LOADS of my medical records - having them in the summery but not the letters, which would be helpful for me. And have retracted the name of my condition well part of it, meaning it’s hard to read due to the missing words so much.

I have been dealing with Medi2data for several months now where they sat on my medical records for over 55 days before notifying my surgery of missing health documents which were sent on the same day as the request was made 2wks later and even though M2d invoice was paid in early May they are yet to forward my records to an equity release provider...absolutely awful service

We have been waiting almost 4 months…

We have been waiting almost 4 months for medical records to be released for a Life Insurance application. This is awful. Every time we call to chase it, we get a recorded message to say that the phone lines are not available due to staff training- how much staff training does one company need? It would seem to me that this company is unable to cope with the work load that they have and are turning off their phone lines in order to catch up. I have already emailed their customer services email address and two weeks later I am still waiting for a reply. If you are a doctors surgery considering outsourcing to Medi-2-Data PLEASE DON'T!!! This system has caused nothing but delay after delay and does not benefit the most important person - the patient!

Awful company

Awful company. They do not respond to phone calls or emails. I have been waiting to get my medical records released for an onward referral for months now. This used to take 24 hours maximum, via more normal GP. Since they outsourced to Medi2data, the service is laughable. Awful company, avoid at all costs.

Update 26/06/25 - it's been months since I opened a complaint with medi2data. They haven't replied or responded to this at all. Despite both me and my doctor's surgery chasing multiple times. As you can see from their reply below, it's all just generic waffle. They don't care at all and do their best to ignore their customers. Classic massive uncaring useless company syndrome!

I've emailed the address provided in their response below already, many times. They've never responded.

Didn’t provide what I requested from my GP and took ages

I have not had a good experience using Medi2data. My GP outsourced my request to them. It took over a month from them receiving the request to send me the report.

On reciept, the section on the insurance form that I requested to be filled in wasn't and they advised only after sending the report to me that "we are unable to fill out a form or answer yes/no questions. Your GP surgery and third party are aware of the way our services work." Having since sent to my health insurer the report, I’ve been informed the sections on the form need to be completed so what I requested from my GP was not provided by Medi2data. I was not made aware of this before paying for their service.

Updates were not helpful, just a repeat of what is on the status tool. I would not recommend!

Paid £48 for a report that didn’t do what I needed

Was referred to Medi2Data by my GP to get a medical report for a Bupa claim. I sent in the actual Bupa form, but only after paying £48 and waiting a month did they tell me they don’t fill in third-party forms — just send out their own generic report.

None of this was made clear before I paid, and now I’m delayed even more because Bupa needs extra info. Really poor communication for something that affects your healthcare. Wouldn’t use again.

NHS privatisation at its worse

Awful experience with the company. The whole process is very unclear. I’ve paid my invoice and still waiting. The phones are not answered and emails not responded to. My health is at risk as I am waiting for letter for my private referral and weeks are passing by. Meanwhile it’s in the queue of this company I’ve been forced to used as my GP outsourced the work to them. A bad example of NHS privatisation, private companies ripping off customers who are forced to use a monopoly and providing a poor service in return

Stony silence

UPDATE: 7th MAY 2025

I’m revising my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. Once I got through to a living, breathing human being the support from Medi2data was outstanding. I dealt with Ashley in customer services and her line manager (sorry, I didn’t record the gentleman’s name) both were fantastic. It transpires that my GP failed to send all of the required information to Medi2data and was being uncooperative and obstructive thus delaying Medi2data. A situation I know Medi2data found just as frustrating as I did. I have raised a formal complaint with my GP practice based on my experience with this.

Note to Medi2data: I did find getting through to customer services a bit hit and miss with phone lines reported as unmanned due to training plus emails to CS receive a reply giving me another support ticket ID and never (in my experience) actually triggered a response from CS. Having said all that, once I got to a human the support was fabulous.

Note to reviewers from GP practice: I’m glad that outsourcing some work to Medi2data makes your lives easier and lightens the workload. Hopefully that frees you up to focus on more patient centred work. I also hope, unlike my GP practice that you retain ownership of the end to end service delivery even though some of the work itself is delegated/outsourced. Sadly, my own GP practice seems to have forgotten that last part. Ownership still resides with the practice.

Original Review Comments:
Stony silence. That’s all I’ve had so far. I have received a terminal illness diagnosis and part of the life insurance claim process requires a report from my GP. I was asked by GP practice for permission to use data from my medical records on 2nd April for the report. I agreed immediately. I checked on progress with my GP and was advised Medi2data are doing the work. I’ve tried contacting Medi2data for a status update. Automated message advises Phone lines closed for “training”, advised to email. Every email gets an auto reply with a new ticket ID. I’ve had zero actual update on progress. This report is holding everything up.

Given the fact that this is a terminal illness which is difficult enough to deal with plus the fact that my hospital consultant has already submitted their report plus a follow up update I hoped this would be quick. I’ve yet to receive any response.

I’m angry that my GP practice uses Medi2data as my experience (and that of others based on the 1 star reviews here) demonstrates that they fall far short of what’s required from the patient perspective.

Based on my experience to date I definitely wouldn’t recommend Medi2data and intend raising a formal complaint with Medi2data (if I can find how to do so), my GP practice and any regulatory body governing the operation. This performance is unacceptable given the nature of the work.

Awful Incompetent Company

I have been waiting for over a month since making payment to receive medical document for a potential serious condition. I contacted 2 weeks after making payment and was told "We can confirm the request is currently with our Commencement team for urgent processing.". A further 2 weeks passed and still nothing received. I emailed 3 days ago to find out what was causing the hold up and no reply. What a shambolic company...

Medi2data are incompetent

Medi2data offer an appalling, unprofessional and inefficient system. It took my daughter almost 6 months to obtain her medical records for joining the military. My son is now going through the same process. This faceless anonymous company simply don’t care that they hold people’s futures, career and way of life in their hands. They should be ashamed of the service they offer. Who is holding Medi2data to account?? How do they hold contracts with so many public sectors with their level of incompetence??

As an advisor with over 15 years of experience in the protection industry, I have never encountered such a lack of professionalism, urgency, and basic client service. Given the nature of this industry, where client well-being and financial security are at stake, it is critical that service providers operate with efficiency and integrity—qualities that Medi2Data Know nothing of. Both myself and my client have spent nearly 3 weeks chasing with not touch as a response email, return phone call, nothing! Medi2data has to be the most unprofessional firm I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend avoiding them at all costs
