Great product and fantastic customer service

My daughter was recommended to get a MedicAlert ID by the A&E consultant when she was diagnosed with Addison's Disease. I spoke to a lovely registered at nurse MedicAlert who spent time with me to help prioritise her conditions to ensure fast and accurate treatment in the event of an emergency. Knowing that paramedics are trained to look for the ID gives her confidence to get on with her life. I thought I might struggle to get her to wear her silver necklace, but she's never taken it off in the last 5 years! All at such a reasonable price too - she pays more each month for her iced lattes!

Hi Colette,

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a fantastic 5-star review!

MedicAlert is proud to be able to provide all of our members with access to a registered nurse for any medical questions, whether it is about what to put on their medical IDs or the actual medical record itself.

I am glad you are also delighted with our jewellery; the silver classic necklace is one of our firm favourites. Regarding the iced lattes, I hope she sometimes treats you to one too!

Kind regards,

The MedicAlert Team

Recently joined MedicAlert and had a great experience I was able to speak to a lovely nurse who helped me decide what to put on my bracelet. Received my bracelet and the engraving is clear and the design is great. Would definitely recommend them, I already feel safer!

1 star is one too many

1 star is one too many! I ordered and personalised an alert bracelet but instead of the bracelet arriving ten working days later I realised that the 36 pounds I had been scammed out of had paid for a yearly membership! I needed the bracelet due to a medical condition which means I can’t have a normal general anaesthetic because it can kill me. So this was rather urgent in case I am in an accident. Don’t order anything from this company. A complete scam!

Hi Nicky,

I sincerely apologise for your dissatisfaction.

Since all of our jewellery is engraved and assembled in-house, all orders have a 10-working day lead time.

In relation to the £36, this is for the annual membership fee. You should have been notified of this upon signing up with our service. I am sorry if this was not made clear, and I will be passing your feedback on to the relevant team.

Just to clarify what the annual subscription fee is for, this is to allow our members' access to our additional services.

These include, but are not limited to: obtaining access to your own online medical record; an international emergency telephone number that is available 24/7; and having a team of nurses available to assist our members with any medical queries, including those about the wording on our jewellery or any other medical concerns you have with your record.

If there is anything we can possibly do to help resolve this matter, please get in touch with us; a member of our team will be on hand to discuss this further with you.

Kind regards,

The MedicAlert Team

More questions than the Spanish Inquisition

Needs to cancel membership for my mother and eventually managed to, not before the agent Lee, told her not to wear the bracelet anymore, as it would be “dangerous”. I did enquire as to whether they would explode, self destruct or electrocute her, but I am still waiting for a response. Avoid as not necessary, paramedics do not use this service. Waste of money.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that the level of service you received did not meet your expectations.

If a member would like to cancel their membership, we can only advise them to no longer wear our products. This is because it could postpone any necessary treatment if the wearer finds themselves in an unfortunate medical emergency.

Please get in contact with us if there is anything we can do to help address the negative feedback, and we will do our best to support you.

Kind regards,

I would not renew again.

I have had membership to Medic alert for many years. I have a son with autism and learning disabilities. The emblems are of very poor quality. Within a very short period of time, the enamel starts disintegrating, the front of the emblem stratches easily and generally looks very tatty. The clips break and the bracelets get lost.

Of most concern however is the very aggressive marketing campaign, frequent telephone calls asking to speak with the member [whose emblem states is non verbal. Seriously!!!!!] because member has not renewed his membership.

Not worth the money and certainly no faith in their record keeping if they can't even ascertain whether or not it is possible to communicate with the member.

I have managed to get a couple of cards from Autism Berkshire - Thames Valley Police Alert Card. They are worn on a lanyard and have never gotten lost [unlike several bracelets.

Beware of this illegal scam company

Beware of this illegal scam company. I signed up with them to get a bracelet but that comes with an expensive yearly subscription. There is no way to cancel. They continually spam you asking for payment but it gets worse than this:

This company sent marketting emails to the emergency contacts that I had registered warning them that I was 'in danger because I didnt pay my subscription'. This breaks european data protection and privacy laws - GDPR. These contacts were given for emergency use, NOT for aggressive marketting.

What kind of charity is that?

Like many people, i have a medical condition that means I need to wear a form of identification and basic medical information about my illness, just in case of emergency.

I used to use medicalert as they provided what I thought I needed. The bracelet would last several years and as the information contained on it never changed, I lapsed with my yearly subscriptions. When I phoned to order a new bracelet, I was told I would have to start paying the subscription again, when all I wanted was a new bracelet and the information contained therein. I was told this was because the indepth information contained on my file was what was really needed by the medical professionals. I didn't believe them.

I searched on the Internet for similar companies offering this type of engraved bracelet and ordered one for much less than a years subscription with medicalert, never mind the cost of their bracelet.

But when my new bargain arrived, the medicalert customer service assistant's words caused a degree of doubt in my mind, so one day I spotted an ambulance crew taking a break in a service area. I asked them if they saw the new bracelet on me, whether they would know exactly how to proceed in an emergency situation. Not only did they satisfy my concerns about that, they said that the in depth reports are not necessary or worth the money.

I feel medicalert gave me misleading information in order to make money from me. Not very charitable.

BEAUTIFUL BRACELET, WONDERFUL COMPANY

I ordered my Byzantine Heavyweight bracelet on the 02/02/22 and received it today 16/02/22. I am absolutely delighted. The bracelet is stunning and the craftmanship is beautiful. As this item is handcrafted I was surprised at how quickly I received it. I am so happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this company to my friends and family.

Beware their expensive poor quality jewellery & the small print!

I bought a silver bracelet with red enamelling. After less than 2 months the enamel started to come off. I notified them as it was covered by a 1 year warranty.
I was told that this was fair wear & tear as the enamel is not permanent and may come off with certain types of soap. They sited 2 clauses in their terms & conditions.
I submitted a review of the bracelet on their web site, but a month on & it still hasn't appeared. The terms & conditions are not visible until after you have completed the purchase, and nowhere in the product description does it say that the enamel is temporary.
