Our Open MRI scanners are beneficial to all patients who suffer with claustrophobia and have a fear of conventional, tunnel MRI systems. We accept referrals from both healthcare professionals and self-referrals. Payment by private health insurance, self-pay and NHS authorised funding are all accepted. We specialise in providing private MRI scans of the brain, spine, joints and pelvic region. Our Upright MRI system is unique in that it can image the whole spine, including the craniocervical junction (CCJ) in an upright position. In addition, our variPOSE™ technique (varying the pose through flexion, extension and rotation for the scan) allows us to thoroughly assess the effects of gravity and posture on joints and soft tissue. Established in 2011, Medserena currently has 2 UK MRI centres in London and Manchester.

Great experience from start to finish
Great experience from start to finish. I am claustrophobic but managed an MRCP without difficulty. The scan was reported on quickly and the result made available for my consultant a few days after the scan. Great service - would recommend

Very kind and professional staff
Very kind and professional staff. Put me at my ease and explained everything thoroughly before we started as Im a super anxious person. Everything was spotless and even got a movie to watch during the procedure. The results came through super quickly too. Would definitely go there again. Thanks to all for a stress free experience.

As someone who is unable to tolerate a normal MRI as I am very claustrophobic and with back problems I found the upright open MRI a very welcome alternative. I was still aprehensive but found the whole experience to be comfortable and quick.The reception staff and Radiographer were professional.I would not hesitate to recommend this scan.

Everyone from the receptionists to the radiographers were very cheerful and
helpful, and above all, understanding.
Found the scanner no problem at all. I am seriously claustrophobic but it's quite comfortable, light and airy, and not enclosed at the front at all. Not nearly as noisy as I had expected either. I would have no hesitation about using it again if it ever becomes necessary.

The best upright MRI scanner in London
From the reception staff to the medical scanning specialist everyone was welcoming and very helpful. As I was in severe pain, after a lengthy drive, I was so grateful for the genuine warmth extended to me. This was the best MRI scan I have had, and I can highly recommend Medserena for their professional choice of staff and modern scanner. Although all your staff were wonderful I have to commend Jane, the scanning operator, in particular. Please send all of the ladies my sincerest thanks.

My experience was fantastic
My experience was fantastic. I’ve had many MRIs but have become very claustrophobic and anxious so privately funded an open MRI. This was a game changer. The staff were, without exception, calm, reassuring, respectful and un flustered - total change from my NHS experiences. There was a large screen which the radiologist set up with a film and my partner was able to sit in the room with me. The machine is large but you can see around and out and the radiologist communicated clearly with me about timings. If I need future MRIs I will not hesitate to come to Medserena London and have already recommended you to others. Thank you for your care.

Good, apart from in my review.
Everything was good, punctual and efficient, BUT I found it disconcerting because the radiographer often had her back to me chatting to other staff who came in. Also I couldn't understand what she was saying through the sound system, so I wasn't reassured as to how long there was left etc.

Really friendly and helpful
Really friendly and helpful. I was stuck in traffic and arrived late, but was kindly accommodated nonetheless. I was offered water, changing facilities are very private and secure and the scan itself was so much easier and less restrictive than others I have had elsewhere. Highly recommend.
