Abusive driver

A delivery driver dropped off our parcel last week and reversed down our neighbours drive to turn his van around (he could have reversed back down our short shared access road). He spun the van wheels so hard coming out of our neighbours drive that gravel went flying. On spotting our neighbour looking to see what the commotion was on her drive, he aimed a volley of foul mouthed abuse at her. Then drove off. Unbelievably bad service from the Inverness branch.

Absolute scumbaggery

Parcel of clothes dumped behind a bin in a rain storm and told it was in a porch i don't have. The staff at the Aberdeen depot don't have a manned phone so the number on the card is pointless. Staff are rude and the emails were littered with spelling mistakes. I genuinely thought a hamster ran across the keyboard to type them. I was then threatened with the police for recording a call and referring to a member of staff as "one of Jim Hensons children". I've asked them to blacklist my address if everyone does the same to these unscrupulous delivery jokers they'd soon go out of business. Hint hint.

Papers either very late or don't arrive…

Papers either very late or don't arrive at all despite numerous phone calls, seriously thinking of stopping doing papers as it causes so much grief first thing in the morning, if Menzies had any competition they would be out of business straight away!

Called Inverness to track down parcel

Called Inverness to track down parcel. Was informed by Katie that parcel was there but no idea when it would be delivered. Told her it was a 3 day delivery and had been 30 days and she told me didn’t matter would be as long as it would be due to covid. I asked to speak to manager and she told me there was no manager available to ask. I asked when I could speak to one and she said I don’t know. At that point I said ok I’d like to record this as I’ll be taking it up further and she hung up. 4 times I called back and 4 times she hung up. Worst customer service ever. My parcel is beyond late. And very little concern from her to sort it.

Driver forced bolted doors

Driver forced bolted doors; having gone to back door despite open porch at front (where every other delivery ever has been left!) The bolt was destroyed and frame damaged so I couldn't shut the doors. Emails with photos of damage were ignored by Menzies. Telephone calls were never returned. I will check which delivery 'service' is used by any other company before I order - won't have Menzies here again.

Rubbish first and last impression

It's never heard of this company, I guess the reason is no business in its right mind would opt to use Menzies to grow their business. Delivery was meant to be next day, after a few days I chased and the status was magically updated to delivered and signed for by me ! Unfortunately, nothing had been delivered, I have CCTV and could prove nothing was. Menzies eventually changed its story to the item was delivered to the wrong address.... Oddly signed for by me ? Hhmm. Some claim that's it was be retrieved and redelivered ? Nothing every happened. I suspect that the item (that was rubbish and cheap so couldn't imagine anyone would want to steal it !) was lost. Easier to claim it was delivered rather than just lost I guess ?

Unbelievable delivery times

Unbelievable. A delivery driver attempting a delivery at 22:45 on a Saturday night is not acceptable. The delivery wasn’t even for me but a neighbour!! How can you let you staff deliver this late of an evening.

The worst company I have ever dealt…

The worst company I have ever dealt with. Papers consistently late every day, items missing, unwanted items added, Been awaiting a call back from a manager for roughly three years. Useless is an understatement. No number for my customers to contact for complaints. They have emailed and been ignored.

Consistently Late delivery of newspapers

Consistently Late delivery of Newspapers Frinton Area.
Yet again the newspapers in the Frinton area did not get anywhere near your many thousands of customers until well after 06h30, almost 07h10 today, this is timed at Co-op Frinton each Saturday. Last week it was almost 07h00 and Menzies blamed it on late arrivals at a distribution hub in Ipswich. A quick check on Orkney Island Mainland showed them where they should be as normal as they are pretty much all year.
As I have said previously it is the responsibility of Menzies alone to resource the delivery of the last miles properly, clearly it appears they neither possess the managerial competence nor the logistical capacity to do such a simple task to deliver to a small community barely 70 miles from London. Indeed I could travel by public transport to London, collect newspapers and be back on a Saturday morning quicker than Menzies take to organise themselves. This is a problem related to Saturdays and it seems this area alone, a bare 70 miles from London!; Menzies when challenged rather than dealing with their issues chose to make the extraordinary claim that “I am not their Customer” and then decline to address the issue. Menzies somewhat flawed procedure states I must complain to the Retailer and they take it up with them. The local retailers are reluctant to do this on the grounds that the delivery service just might get worse. Of course the Distribution Contract is in the hands of the Newpapers but Menzies are happy to take the money.
Reluctantly after a year of very poor performance and unreliable delivery times by Menzies I have decided that I will not purchase any further Newspapers until the delivery times and reliability are greatly improved locally.

Is deliveries on time, first time expecting too much?!!!

They only get 1 star because you can’t give 0! The service we get is abysmal and their management don’t seem to give two hoots; they hide behind a ‘customer services’ team. Complaints get ignored, requests for information are ignored, claims are ignored. They claim to be a world class logistics yet they can’t even get the basics right. They pat themselves on the back on platforms such as LinkedIn but hide from the truth. They are driving the newspaper industry into the ground and seem more focused on serving Office Depot contracts. They are penny pinchers who continue to expect the supply chain to do more with less resource and still maintain service levels; completely delusional! Senior staff in Edinburgh talk a good game but when it comes to it their words are not backed up with actions. It has been in the slide for the past 10 years but recently, following the arrival of new owners, it has moved onto a new level of decline. If they operated in an open and competitive market they would not have survived the length of time they have and I might get what I pay for which is simply deliveries on time, first time!

Terrible driver - not getting our contract!

The driver of ST18 0NR I encountered on the road was awful. You'd think someone who drives for a living would know how to do it without running other cars off the road. He changed lanes far too late without indicating, nearly crashed into me as his van cut across my bonnet, then had the cheek to glare at me! I would not use this company based solely on this awful and quite scary experience... which is losing them business as I'm in the final process of deciding who to award our distribution contract to for Havering and Greater London as our company has just opened up numerous outlets in the south. Menzies WAS on the short list. Not any more. What does this recklessness say about the company?

Dangerous drivers

The driver of a particular vehicle SC21 YFD is lucky he hasn't been caught by police. He spent the entire time tail gating me in a 30 and when it came to a clear stretch of road he overtook me going 50mph in a 30. Nevermind I had a young child in the car and the roads were icy. He then continued to tail gate other vehicles along icy country roads and his brake lights were constantly on. I don't know where you get these drivers but putting other road users at risk with their careless and wreckers driving isn't acceptable.

Worst courier I’ve ever dealt with

Horrendous experience with this company. Parcel attempted during the week & we were carded due to being out. Using the info on their card, we went online to re-arrange delivery for 2 days later (a Friday) as we knew we would be at home all day. Nothing appeared on that day. We attempted to call the number on their card during office hours (Aberdeen depot) multiple times to enquire if our parcel was out for delivery as requested and no one picked up the phone.
I had to contact the retailer who used their contacts at the depot to enquire. The retailer was informed that the parcel was in the depot due to 2 previous failed delivery attempts - why was it attempted after we had requested online a re-delivery 2 days later?
Utterly useless. Unfortunately APC contract to Menzies in the Aberdeen area. I have also had similar problems with Menzies in the past - no one answers. Retailer promises me that their contact confirms delivery will be attempted next week. I have no faith this will actually happen. Avoid at all costs. Incompetent company

Minus Ten

Worse than one! Still waiting 8 days later for a parcel that was meant to be delivered in 2 days from Viking. Tracking doesn’t work so I have no idea where my parcel is. Needed it for an event that’s now over. Absolutely useless.

Manager is the problem there

I worked for Menzies (Greenwich) for over 7yrs as agency worker but in Feb 2021 i became a Menzies employee what a mistake that was the manager at Greenwich does not care about anyone working there all he cares about is overloading the lorries and sending drivers out with unsafe load to do 12 /14 hour shifts I was starting work 630am and not getting back to the yard most days til after 1900 hrs the manager doesn't care if you get enough rest between shifts and doesn't care if you have to drive lorry whilst you're tired he just wants to look good for head office I cannot understand how head office has not asked why so many drivers and office staff have left this year more staff have left in the last 12 months than in the previous 6yrs and it's all down to one person I walked out last Monday (20th December) they got in touch to tell me that they have grievance procedure if I'm not happy with something but to me that's like the police investigating the police waste of time Greenwich site will not get back to what it use to be until head office open their eyes and do something about the problem there which is management

Very poor service.

Purchased an item from an online store and my bad luck was it being sent by Menzies. Should have been delivered in 1-2 days but a week later nothing. Tried to track on their site and just got a blank page.
Viking Direct should dump Menzies.

Minus stars for Menzies

Minus stars for Menzies, two failed deliveries now. Ordered through Parcel2Go (who have great customer service). Menzies claimed to have collected the parcel and stored at their depot wen in fact the parcel had never been collected. That made getting a refund tricky. Avoid.

Viking should drop their contract with Menzies

You can't give zero stars on here - they should not be allowed to trade. The drivers appear to sign the delivery confirmations themselves rather than go to the trouble of delivering to the correct address.

Viking currently use them - I am about to leave a similar review for Viking - who are normally very good - but they should tear their contract up with Menzies ASAP as they are giving them a very bad name.

Where Are My Parcels?

We were victims of Storm Arwen last week, we had to leave home for a few days as we had no heat, light or cooking facilities.
When we got back there were two cards from Menzies through the letterbox, they had tried to deliver 2 parcels on the 29th and 30th November. These were taken back to the depot. There were no consignment numbers on either card so it was impossible to use the website to have them redelivered.
I tried using the phone number for the Aberdeen office but it just kept ringing until a very strange voicemail message to leave your details. I did this on the first call but have rung back daily since and no joy. I also used their contact us portal on their website but again this has been ignored!
This is just not good enough for a national courier company particularly at this time of year!
