I purchased a built in Miele fridge four months ago with full confidence that it would be both quiet and well designed. I'm more than happy with its almost imperceptible sound level. BUT, the design is a great disappointment! Had Miele endevoured to reduce the storage capacity by bad design they could not have done better.

Having fitted the fridge I was puzzled to find myself with two surplus shelves. One I could account for the other remains a mystery. The accountable shelf would have gone over the salad box at the very bottom. Had I fitted this as you do with a shelf I would have stymied access to the contents as the box is buried in the internal molding, there is no slide out access! The only way in is from the top, cover this with a shelf and guess what, you will need to do the obvious and clear the shelf to gain access.

Even with fridges one third of the price the saldad box slides out enabling items to be place on the covering glass shelf.

If the top door shelf is located in the top slots it is inevitable that its cover will soon clash with your countertop and break. Be patient, the internal light will come on eventually.

My recommendation, don't pay a premium for this poorly designed fridge, get a decent design at a third of the price but do check the noise rating.

In 6 years we have burned through 4 dishwasher, 2 washing machines, a stove and an iron machine. NEVER ever buy Miele !!! Too expensive, no service, North Korean quality. I am back to Wirhlpool. 20% of the costs and a great machine that does not break down.
