Left my flat with a flood for 72 hours

Good Morning,

I would like to bring to your attention that absolutely horrific way that I have been treated by your Plymouth branch on Mutley Plain. I pay for a fully managed service with yourselves and I have nothing but trouble with yourselves and since absolutely nothing gets done when I try to correspond with yourselves and I’m either met with terrible attitudes or ignored completely I feel it’s time I start to address yourselves publicly.

.I have had to send 4 emails to report a flood coming through a ceiling (still no action taken by yourselves).

.I have also called yourselves 14 times to report a severe flood and still you have not taken any action to make this safe.

.You advertise a 24 hour emergency service and in fact you just completely ignore any emergency reported to yourself .

. My tenants deposit seems to have completely disappeared and the government backed deposit protection scheme still haven’t received it from yourself.

. I would also like to know why it is deemed acceptable that when I report a flood to Sam Robbinson, Alex Craven, Michelle Serau and Teresa (property manager) not at one point has anyone looked into this matter or arranged for a tradesman to rectify this problem leaving me no option but to take time out of my working day to do this.

You manage my property and I pay for a fully managed service. This is advertised as a service you will look after the properties if the landlord is unable to or too busy. You advertise that you have a 24 hour repairs support but I contacted you 72 HOURS ago complaining of a leak going through the ceiling of one of my properties into my lower property. I live 4 hours away from the property and I am unable to manage it myself due to work commitments. Even though you were made aware that the leak was so severe that it coming through the ceiling of the lower flat YOU DID NOTHING. I emailed 4 DIFFERENT MEMBERS of staff with not 1 single reply. I called your office and out of hours emergency line 14 TIMES yesterday alone begging for you to look into the problem as I was worried for the family living below. I expressed I was worried the ceiling was going to collapse so needed this sorted ASAP. I had no option but to turn off the water supply to all 3 of my properties in that block because no one in your office would reply to me so I was unable to gain entrance to the the flat where the flood was coming from. This left 2 families with no running water and when my understandably stressed out self contacted your office I was met with the absolutely disgraceful attitude of SAM ROBBINSON. I had to take time out of time my working day to arrange an emergency plumber and all I requested was that your staff let my plumber into the flat where the leak was. After Sam refused to make this journey that is less than a 5 minutes from your office as my property is on an adjacent road to your office I asked him to put this in writing as I pay for a fully managed service and there was an emergency that you were failing to take any action to rectify. Sam at first refused to put this in writing then stated he would do it on 30 minutes. I contacted him over an hour later and this time I took to initiative to record the way in which I was being treated as I feel it extremely concerning that Millers staff are confident in acting a certain way but want to hide all proof of this behaviour. Please listen to this audio and see what I have to deal with in the state of an emergency. Your refusal to let my tradesmen in lead me to incur extra charges as the tradesmen had to go out his way.

As this behaviour seems to be a reoccurring theme with Miller’s this would lead me to believe that this poor conduct is an organisational culture issue and this leads me to my second point. I have been in contact with yourselves for over 4 weeks now as the deposit you were meant to transfer for other properties I had to pull from yourselves due to your poor management skills have still not been received by the government protection scheme. These deposits should have been transferred on August 24th 2020 and we are now in October and these deposits have still not been received and after doing some research on your company I have seen that numerous members of staff had been convicted of fraud. This leaves me extremely scared now as this money has seemed to go missing without a trace.

I would really appreciate it if somebody could contact me and let know why Millers thinks it is acceptable to conduct business in this matter. Please see attached the audio of my conversation with Sam Robbinson also the numerous times I have had to call yourselves to beg you to take action when there is an emergency.

No communication

We instructed Millers to sell our property however during the period under them we had not one viewing, there was no communication with us and after instructing them to withdraw my house from the market they failed to return my front door key and failed to collect their sign. They have been called over three times about the sign collection and have not communicated when they will collect it. On phoning them two weeks ago they informed me to leave it out at the front of the house and it would be collected within a few days - it has still not been collected and I have had to phone them again today.

Miller Countrywide Bodmin

Manager lacks integrity. Would not recommend, had short involvement with them as a prospective buyer - treated unfairly – ombudsman found inconsistencies and lack of record keeping.

1 star is being generous

Was on the market with millers for 18 months and got absolutely nowhere. We accepted an offer but the buyers had some concerns about the building next to the house. We got everything checked out and sent millers the report but they never passed it on so I lost the buyers. Impossible to get in touch with anyone in the branch, they never reply to emails or phone calls. I went away to America a few times and asked them not to ring me while I was out of the country and every morning at about 4/5am they'd ring me with problems and questions. Cost me a fortune everytime. Left millers and went with a different agency who sold my house in 3 days at a higher price than what I would have got with millers and at a cheaper fee compared to what millers were asking for. Long story short, STAY AWAY FROM MILLERS

Beware!

My experience of this company is nothing short of abysmal. The person we are buying from us is using Miller Countrywide and also Millers' solicitors. We are both after a quick transaction, but five weeks after starting the procedure, their solicitors in Wales have not even managed to draw up a contract! After five weeks!!!!!

When I contact the local branch, I am told "it is out of their hands" and yet it is Miller's own solicitors who have messed up. Unbelievable. I find this company completely incompetent!

NB A day after writing this review, I discover that it is Millers themselves (Head Office) who took FIVE WEEKS to send the sale details to the solicitors. Disgraceful. You couldn't pay me any amount of money to use them

Be careful with your deposit if your renting.

It was complicated for me to get my deposit back, it took 7 months, a lot of emails and phone calls. I recommend you to be careful with that, and to use the protection if you can (which only lasts 3 months). Some employees of the companies are very nice and helpful though.

The Torquay office is just awful

The Torquay office is just awful! Full of young girls who don’t know the basics of sales. decided to leave our nanny cam on one day to see why we weren't getting anywhere and one of the girls there barley said a work other than ‘hmmm’ ‘yeah’ ‘oh my god’ and spent most of the time giggling. Considering their quite pricey for the area I was expecting real quality but if you into their Torquay branch you’d think you were behind the counter at top shop. Really unprofessional, they need to find a good training program for all these girls or get some staff with knowledge and experience.

New rental.

We decided to entrust our property to Millercointrywide, Falmouth office. The level of service given by Cameron Wallis the branch manager has so far been excellent. The office team I understand is a relatively new and this is in there favour, which shows in their enthusiasm. They keep you informed what is happening at each stage and Cameron certainly represents the company extremely well and is very knowledgeable. We have every confidence that our property will be rented at the anticipated price. I would not hesitate in recommending them.

Cant get the address right on a tenancy agreement

Just had a tenant give me notice, Saying the agreement has the wrong address on it so she is not bound buy it.
Hundreds in fees and they cant even get the address right on the agreement. No doubt they will say I should have checked it. but if you cant get something that basic correct its probably best to do what I am going to do and go to a different agent when this tenant has left.

Unbelievably high fees

Miller Countrywide Lettings have had a reputation for a number of years for obscenely high fees for tenants, and poor service for both landlords and renters. I can't comment on the landlord or sales experience but, as a prospective tenant, I'm appalled.

I recently viewed a property through my local Miller office, and the individual agents were pleasant to deal with and not too unprofessional (excepting a certain evasiveness about fees, which they claimed were "on the website"; they are definitely not listed anywhere on Miller's site!). Unfortunately, when I pressed for information on the fee schedule and was finally given details, I found that not only do Miller not have a set schedule of fees, instead telling me that they "varied by property", but that they were asking £872 for a two-person application. And no, that did not include deposit or first month's rent in advance. That's over eight hundred pounds just in fees.

To put this in perspective, this figure is more than three times what I've been quoted elsewhere for the same circumstances, similar properties, and same kind of application. There is no apparent reason Miller's fees are so high, but I did see their schedule included such specifics as a £72 fee for inventory - for the incoming tenant - and a £300 "admin fee" for drawing up the tenancy, independent of any form of credit referencing.

When I expressed surprise at the cost, they did offer to reduce the fees immediately by £200. Unfortunately, all this suggested to me was that Miller had a ridiculously high profit margin to start with. It's a shame, as they may well be a splendid lettings agent, and I could well have had a great tenancy through them. However, with fees this high, I won't find out if that's true any time soon.
