The kitchen has run out of half of the menu, the tables are dirty and covered with dirty plates, the staff are rushed off their feet with no organisation and didn’t know where the high chairs are. My partner found one in seconds which she then had to clean and the staff have swept a pile of rubbish and left it there on the floor. The food is unedable! The eggs are burnt at the bottom but raw on top, the tomatoes are unripe and warm, beans are cold, bacon is burned. They Even run out of cream for the hot chocolate.

No one asked how the meal is and no one seemed to care about the customer! Won’t be eating here again

I contacted regarding a garden brolley not fit for purpose, received unsatisfactory response!

Shame about this company, they despatched the Goods in good time and the price was very good. However the delivery company let them down and of course; hands well and truly wiped for any fault.

Zero compensation for a days holiday wasted.

On Sunday i went with my 85 year old mum to the garden centre. We were looking at the outdoor plants in the aisles. At the bottom of each of the aisles there are wooden boxes which apparently are there to cover up the pipes that stick out from the concrete. If you are looking up the aisles you wouldn't notice them and my mum didn't and subsequently tripped, Thankfully I was next to her and she didnt fall but did sustain bruising to her lower leg. I did raise this and the lady at the till was very sympathetic , unfortunately the more senior person 'appeared' entirely unconcerned . I have subsequently raised it by phone but again got a very dismissive response. My concern is that because of the low level of the boxes this is a trip hazard for customers

My husband and I went to lunch with two friends yesterday to this Garden Centre. We ordered our food and had to wait for 45 minutes. It wasn't that busy when we were still waiting . When it arrived it was absolutely awful.

I ordered steak pie and chips, I didn't fancy anything else on the menu, and the plate was 3/4 full of chips with a bit of overcooked soggy pastry with some chicken inside. No point saying I had the wrong pie because we might still be there now waiting for it. The chicken was sparse with a horrible white sauce inside. There was no presentation and it had just been chucked on the plate. You eat with your eyes first and this was not something you wanted to look at. I had already asked if the pie was shortcrust and told it was. It was not anything like pastry which I have eaten before. I left most of it.

Our friends had ham, egg and chips and the ham was pre-packed ham that you would buy in a supermarket to put in a sandwich. My friend had to take pieces of fat off. Normally, it would be ham carved off the bone. It looked totally unappetising.

My husband had an all day breakfast which he said was ok, but all in all it was quite expensive. You don't mind if the food is good, or how much it costs, but not when it's just horrible. Just 1 meal which was ok out of 4.

I asked a man who was on another table what his pie was like, as he had the same as me. This was when we were walking out and we saw him. He said "overcooked, stodgy and dry" so I knew it wasn't me being overly fussy.

On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and there is a nice gift shop there. We would never go and eat there again though. If there was a choice of giving them no STARS we would.

Really disappointing
Not worth a visit, better garden centres around the area.

slow service, awful food, dirty and over priced.
The Planteria...lots of neglected and dead plants left on benches, no one seems to really know much about the plants they are selling and once again everything is overpriced and of poor standard.
Christmas (Dec 22)...
A poor display and massively overpriced for the tacky decorations on offer.
The place has massively gone downhill, I'd hazzard a guess its down to poor management.

Its really not worth a visit unless you are looking to go into Swallow Aquatics which is well run by very knowledgeable and helpful staff.

Without going into too much unnecessary detail, the service I received was excellent.
I needed to contact them several times by phone and email and they responded immediately.
Natasha was brilliant.
Would highly recommend especially as their prices are very competitive.

Judging from several earlier reviews it appears Mill Race Garden Centre had some problems with customer service in the past. I recently bought several Lemax items from them, and delivery was prompt and accurate. Two items had issues, both almost certainly down to the manufacturer, and in both instances I received prompt and excellent customer service (from Sarah) that resolved the problems. My experience suggests the company has people in place who do a good job when dealing with online orders and I recommend them.

Unfortunately our Kamado Joe Ceramic BBQ arrived with what looked to be factory damage on it. Being the Christmas period there was nothing they could do until the new year as they were awaiting a response from the UK supplier.
Credit where credit is due though, by the second week in Jan they sent their own van out on a long trip (approx. 4hrs each way) to swap it over for a brand new one and were going to sort it out with the supplier themselves instead of us waiting any longer. Thank you Mill Race Garden centre, very much appreciated and you were true to your word.

We have shopped at Mill Race for many years and always had a positive experience but had never purchased anything online and I have to say that it was excellent. We were ordering garden furniture, this was shipped well within the delivery range but when the lorry got stuck on the motorway they a) phoned to advise it would be late b) gave a mobile phone so we could speak to them "any time" (it was after 1800) and c) when it became apparent that the original delivery was not going to make it they sent out another one via a different route to ensure they delivered on time. Superb customer service that gives me confidence to buy more online with them.

We went into the restaurant and placed an order for 2 small breakfasts, the place was empty apart from 5 other people already seated, ordered at 9.48am, our drinks were brought out 5 mins later, waited for 32 mins no food, asked a waitress about our order, she went to check in the kitchen came back and said it'll be 2 mins, 14mins later the food arrived, by this time the place was packed, people had come and gone by this time, the couple behind us ordered the double breakfasts and got it within 15 mins. No apology from anyone just left sitting there, the lady who originally served us kept looking over whilst we waited. Very poor service, on the flip side when the food arrived it was very nice. I had to give one star, I would have given none if I had the choice.

Bought a new Char-Broil bbq from Mill Race online.
Put the order in on Monday night with the free delivery option.
Arrived on Thursday morning, how good is that?
Very impressed with the service and wouldn’t hesitate to use again in the future.

Amazing service! I ordered some kettler protective covers and received them within 2 days! They are exactly what I was looking for, and to receive them so quickly was great!

Ordered a Christmas tree and was expecting it to arrive any day now. Unfortunately I have just received a refund for said tree without the courtesy of any communication from this company as to why I won't be receiving it. Awful service, I will not shop with them again!

Purchased a Lemax product and when i unboxed it at home it was either previously sold or an ex display. It had stains on it and the figures showed they'd been used before. However it did not work with batteries or adapter. So i when phoning the store a member of staff, talking to his manager, said all I can do is bring it back to the store for a refund. I live 50 minutes drive away. Even though they do online shopping , I'm not allowed to post it. Plus would get nothing for the time/diesel of returning a pre used broken product. I asked to speak to the person passing messages, but they were too busy. So i left my mobile number and was told he might phone me, not will, but might. So I either spend the near equivalent of the product to return it, or just throw it away. Extremely poor customer service.

Ordered a garden parasol online recently. I'd really struggled to find the right colour and size so was delighted to find that Mill Race Garden Centre had one that was ideal and a reasonable price. Very prompt delivery, arriving in a couple of days over the weekend and the parasol seems to be very good quality and exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend.

I ordered a garden furniture set from them, which was out of stock pretty much everywhere else or the company was really struggling because of covid-19 and had shutdown there customer support which put me off ordering from them.
With Mill Race, I phoned them and a nice lady answered and went to check personally if they had the furniture in stock which they did. She told me they usually deliver within 7 working days which was great compared to others at 6 weeks.
I ordered through the website and it actually arrived 2 days later! The delivery guy even helped me carry the boxes to the back garden rather than just leave it kerb side.
I would order from them again in the future.

Brilliant service. Order confirmed by return email, and item received in Manchester within a few days as advised, even in these difficult times. Will use again.
